Different story but don't know why she wants him
phd_travel7 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This is a slightly different Hallmark story. The actress is sweet. He does not look like a typical doctor. Some faults in the story. The way he behaves it makes her a bit of a doormat the way she still wants him. She doesn't look that different for him not to recognise her. Some drama among Nasty Nurses.

For a doctor he sure ain't too bright

Warning: Spoilers
A modern re-telling of Cinderella in some aspects this rom-com can be quite frustrating to watch...The main plot of the film is a new handsome doc meets a charming nurse while stuck in an elevator with her but before he could get her name they separate but wait....as luck would have it he starts working in the same hospital as the nurse.

Case closed...movie over, right? WRONG

He oddly enough cannot recognize the nurse he spent over 90mins with stuck in an elevator playing shrimp beer pong...

Fine...I'd buy it if they didn't spend what seems like long hours working along side each other at work and while not at work he's running around trying to find her name thru the lady working the ticket booth at the event center to tracking down the caterer who was also stuck in the elevator... It's just hard to believe that if you were that smitten by someone after a pretty significant event like getting stuck in close quarters and then working alongside each other every day...you'd think something would click...right? Her VOICE MAYBE?

Yea I do too And for that reason I can't give this more than a 5/10

The rest of the film has all the other charming qualities you come to expect from a romantic movie.

The leads are solid ...no surprise.

I recommend it but it can be a frustrating watch.

A Different Take on the Cinderella Story
tiffanytallent198128 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I spent probably half of the movie wondering why the lead female character (Claire) never stood up for herself. She had absolutely no confidence and always kept her head down. I couldn't figure out why lead nurse Lena and secondary nurse Whitney seemed to have it out for Claire either. Where did the hostility come from? Then I remembered that this movie follows along the lines of a Cinderella story. The nasty nurses represent her stepmom/sister and Claire is Cinderella. New doctor, Luke is the prince and a few patients are like Claire's fairy Godmothers. Now it made more sense to me as I watched. There were still a bunch of things I didn't like though!

Dr. Luke and Claire get trapped in an elevator one evening. This is the day before Luke starts at the hospital, so he doesn't know she's a nurse there, and she doesn't know he's a doctor. They flirt and talk while stuck together, but fail to get each other's information after they are freed. The following day, Dr. Luke is introduced by the head doctor to the nursing staff. He doesn't recognize Claire at all. I rewound it back to see if she looked completely different in the elevator. Well, it WAS dark in there and Claire was dolled up. Plus, as a nurse, her hair was pulled back into a bun. So I gave Luke a pass on not recognizing her at first.

Throughout the first day, all of the nurses kept hitting on Luke. Eventually, Claire found him and started to let him know that she was the woman in the elevator. He interrupted her, said he was tired of all of the flirting, and just wanted to help patients. Ok. Luke was rude, but it was understandable. The following days at the hospital, Claire has her hair down a lot and it's obvious that she is the woman from the elevator. Even she thinks Luke knows it's her, but just isn't interested. Luke doesn't see it though. He felt a connection to the elevator woman, but can't see her in Claire. Is it a man thing? Is it a doctor thing? I'm not sure, but he is completely oblivious.

The entire movie, he is trying to track down the elevator woman, when she's right in front of him. He does spend time with Claire though, and start to like her. He doesn't want to go there because they work together and because of elevator woman. Lol Then Claire is also having a difficult time at the hospital with Lena and Whitney. They work to sabotage her chances at becoming lead nurse, by making her look like an inept gold digger, only after Luke's money. Things come to a head at a benefit party, that Claire isn't supposed to attend. Lena made sure to schedule her at the hospital that night. Well, Claire's patients work together to make sure she gets to go to the benefit. They roam the hospital for a dress, shoes, and person to cover Claire's shift. At the benefit, Lena confronts Claire about not being at work. She starts yelling loudly about how selfish Claire is and that she's a gold digger, so all the guests can hear. Instead of standing up for the person Luke knows Claire to be, he asks HER to leave. Pfft...That SHE was making a scene and not Lena. Oh and then Lena fires Claire.

As Claire goes to the hospital to retrieve her belongings, nurses are shaking their heads because of what kind of person she turned out to be. Even Luke looks at her and looks away with a blank expression. At this point, Claire's best friend tells her that she doesn't deserve anything that she's not willing to fight for. It's about time someone called her out on being a doormat. So Claire starts to take control of her life and find herself. While that's happening, a patient of Claire's chews out the lead doctor for allowing her to be fired. And another patient let's Luke know he's an idiot. Good times! Finally, Luke finds out from yet another patient that Claire WAS the woman in the elevator with him. But now she won't take his calls. Good for her. Luke finally gets Claire to meet him though, she accepts his apology, and they kiss. Eh. Oh and the lead doctor rehires Claire as head nurse.

In the end, Claire never does stand up for herself on screen, aside from avoiding Luke's calls. I wanted to see her tell him off for his stupidity and Lena for her abuse. I'm a sucker for these Cinderella movies, but most of them don't live up to my expectations. Elevator Luke and Claire had good chemistry, but they weren't given the chance to develop it later in the movie. I might watch this again in a couple years, when I forget what a doormat Claire was and how UNprince-like Luke was.

Not the best
CassC082131 January 2020
It's a basic hallmark/lifetime type very predictable Romantic movie. A modern day Cinderella type story - My main gripe is that the background music plays almost constantly throughout the entire movie lol. It's quite annoying. The acting is sub par, Trevor Donovan is the only one who is actually a decent actor. Is not the worst I've seen but nowhere near the best. Worth a free watch if you are bored.

Nurse Cinderella - annoyances but cute
mccabe-shannon23 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Yes. It's a Cinderella story. Yes there are very annoying things- just like Chad Michael Murray somehow didn't recognize Hilary Duff who was only wearing a tiny mask, in this version they had the cell phone flashlight in an elevator which insides reflected light. If we were expected to think he had reasons not to recognize her it should have been darker for the audience as well - or I don't know you're interested in someone you shine the light in ways to catch a glimpse. The exaggerated evil step mom and sisters - head nurse and nurses in this instance- we just ugh. I get that's the point but it was extreme. And lastly, she should have just thrown in like oh hey yea I know you love painting remember you told me in the elevator?! Oh wait ruin the movie got it.

I don't think he was as bad as other reviews say. Their first meeting in the hospital for sure, but not after that. After that he is nice. He is falling for her but also fell for elevator girl and while he is searching for her he doesn't want to get too deep with Claire- which is nice. She is a hot weak but I don't really think the other reviews are quite fair. All of these movies have the best friend. Didn't really like this one. Yea she acted as a catalyst but we didn't know her enough to like her when it happened.

I'm never ranking a Hallmark movie as a 10, but I'm also not rating them against Oscar nominees. I like them all, just my cheesy interests I guess haha. This is pretty standard run of the mill. Cute. Silly.

OMG! Are you kidding me?
kim-8122628 November 2022
This is the worst movie ever! This displays a female character who is ok with having a male lead tell her she is "making a scene" and then being ok with hooking up with him. WTF? This is unacceptable. She is put down by everyone and yet is just going to accept it when everyone decides it is ok to accept her. What a horrible plot, which does not reflect the current reality of what is acceptable. Where are the consequences for the other horrible cast who treated this character in such a disrespectable manner. This is a chauvanistic show and out of touch with the times. It makes me want to no longer watch Hallmark movies.

Enjoyable despite an illogical subpar script.
grammajanie-2881125 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
A sweet movie and the leads were enjoyable despite a meandering and illogical script. Claire wasn't dressed in a costume in that elevator and they spent quite awhile together - in close quarters - so how is it even remotely possible that he doesn't remember what she looks like? And on the next day? Even the terrified waiter recognized Dr. Taylor several days later... I know it's a made for tv romcom but we as viewers are not stupid. Cringeworthy to watch his reaction to the confrontation at the fund raiser. Then she's supposed to forgive and be ready to move on with him? I can say that I climbed over all that and actually enjoyed watching the movie. And I might watch it again sometime. But these actors deserved better in plot and direction . Their talents were sorely wasted here. Pay for some writers and editors who have their minds based in reality.

She still went for him...smh
hgrosenthal23 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
My mother was watching this and I happened to be paying slight attention. it is your normal lovey, romancey, and "lets paint together fro a date" movie. However the "Prince Charming" did not deserve her. Instead of being a gentleman and asking to have the convo with the wicked nurse somewhere else he asks her to leave because she is "making scene", what a gentleman. He didn't question anything and looked the other way when she walked out of the hospital with her belongings. Then she starts taking care of her self for him to "realize" his mistake was a really stupid mistake and beg for her back. I am all for forgiveness but you can forgive someone but not have to be buddy buddy with them again. I wish she would have realized her worth and how he could not really stand up for himself, and never did found things out for himself. It just gives a message that she did her best and truly cared for him then got slammed for things that were not even true, and he didn't bat an eyelash to help her. Then she starts to find and be herself and the minute he wants her back she doesn't hesitate and takes him back. it could have given a better meaning/message.

Definitely Cinderella with a twist
linda-plant27 January 2020
Pleasant to watch, but the storyline took an unpleasant turn with Luke's unfair treatment of our heroine, purely on the word of the evil stepmother boss. Had I been Clare (and I'm sure in real life) the doctor would be told to take a hike for being so shallow.

Suspend your disbelieve
kosmasp28 February 2021
Or don't bother watching this at all. Are men shallow? Even the good ones? Maybe that is what you think and maybe the Cinderella aspect of this story is more important to you than any cliche or the very .. how do I put it nicely? Well the fact our main male protagonist seems to be unable to recognize the very woman he supposedly fell head over heels over ... And she wasn't even wearing a mask or anything.

Now that is quite the big point that almost breaks the movie ... actually maybe it does. Maybe you don't care that after that fact it is quite nicely and romantic and speaks to the heart of those who are in movies like this one. If that is the case, you normally shouldn't care either that we get a fairy tale depiction of nurses, doctors, patients and janitors (or is room cleaning person? I actually forgot the job description of one of the characters) ... the main thing to remember: Fairy tale ... are you up for that, with all its flaws or not?

Wanted to bang my head against wall
shacmasta22 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Not going to go into a spiel...but this is a very frustrating movie to watch. It's not the first time a Cinderella inspired film has been made and honestly I wouldn't have made that connection if it wasn't in the films summary.

But let's forget it and put the whole Cinderella stuff to the side and review this on its own Hallmark lite merits.

So...First let's talk about how I'm suppose to believe this DOCTOR couldn't figure out the woman he thinks he's so madly in love with was the nurse he's been spending time at work with. For those that missed it...He gets stuck in an elevator in the beginning of the film with this nurse at a performance. In the elevator they laugh, play games but he obviously didn't look at her face. Huh...seriously? Hell...you'd think her personality would have sounded an alarm but no.

Also...why the hell does she even have feelings for a guy who basically flips on her at least 3 times throughout the film. Doesn't that show you what type of clown this guy is?

And this poor girl gets humiliated for over an hour but since it's a hallmarky-esque rom....we'll tie everything in a pretty little bow at the end because all that matters is that she gets the man of her dreams and the head nurses job.

Pfft...please.

Prince Charming he wasn't, not at all.
cyndiwest31 January 2020
The heroine of this story, Claire, was far too good for her intended in this romance that left me hoping that this sweet nurse would recognize her worth and divert her attention from the shallow and spineless, Dr. Luke. I found myself thinking this would be a good movie to show my daughter's as an example of what poor character looks like in a man. It also demonstrated the lack of self-love it would take for a woman of virtue, to aspire to be with someone unworthy of her.

Too much nonsense
MickyG33322 August 2023
6.7 stars.

Anything for me below a seven is below average. This movie has a lot of potential, but they waited too long for the reveal. The multiple missed opportunities and incidences were much too far-fetched for my liking. I like the acting, I like the personalities, and I like the potential of the plot. On the downside, it is too unrealistic, the unprofessionalism of most of the other nurses is a joke. Even I can see that real life is nothing remotely similar. It's as if this was written for middle schoolers, but they didn't have the right actors and the right middle school setting, so they transplanted the story into a hospital with immature pre-pubescent nurses and clueless doctors instead. This film is poorly executed with multiple amateur mistakes. I'll not be watching this again anytime soon.

There are a few great moments, but too few and far between. "You don't deserve anything you're not willing to fight for". Good quote, but ill timed, because of too many prior bungles.

NO LATINOS
gilco-3054820 January 2024
I accidentally ran across this movie when looking for something to watch. I really thought the movie flowed quite nicely. The main characters were well played. It was worth the time spending the evening sipping wine with my wife. The Claire actress was very pretty and pleasurable. I'll be on the lookout for any other movies or programs she may have appeared in. The scenery was delightful. Also I enjoyed the storyline. My only problem with this movie was that weren't any latino characters in any of the roles. If they ever do a Prescription for Love: Part 2 please consider latinos. Gilcortez from Texas.

Needed much better writing
jenrn-097224 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This was awful. Another movie where the male lead is spineless and obtuse, the female lead is a wimp. He first doesn't recognize a woman he supposedly likes, the very next time he sees her, though it is only a day or two later. She was soooo special - but he can't remember what she looked like or sounded like? Then she's bullied by other nurses (they don't explain why, and Cinderella story or not - those nurses wouldnt have been nurses if their personalites were that awful). She is too spineless - for not standing up for herself - to him or to the bullies at work.

This was extremely unrealistic in too many ways: doctors don't decide who the "head nurse" is. That is soooo 1950's. There are nursing administrators who do that. The nasty nurse at the party was a coworker, not her boss, so would have had no authority to fire her. And to fire her at a party, after only accusing her of gold-digging, would have opened the hospital up for a wrongful termination lawsuit - she wasn't fired for cause. Let's not forget about the good doctor not recognizing her the next time he sees her after the elevator incident - cell phone flashlights are bright enough to see by - so no reason he wouldnt have figured out who she was right away. She wasn't even wearing glasses or a mask in the elevator...

Not sure why Hallmark writers like to make nurse protagonists look so pathetic. What do they have against nurses? Would have been better if she stood up for herself a bit and made the good doctor do a bit more groveling. This was very senseless and drawn out, with a very unlikable male lead. Wouldn't recommend even for a one time watch....

A Cute Modern Cinderella Story
swpcmg27 November 2019
I really enjoyed this movie - it's a modern take on Cinderella set in a hospital where the Cinderella character is a nurse, the Evil Stepmother is her boss. and the Prince is the new Doctor. Although Cinderella has been done hundreds of times before, this version worked and was fun to watch, with some cool twists with the various characters and patients at the hospital.

Unapologetic Cinderella rip off
Jackbv12324 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Remember that this type of movie has absolutely nothing in common with realism. I don't care what job it is, you can't fire someone on the spot for anything less than a major criminal or violent act, and even then. The reasons would not have stood up in the light of day. It is also very unfortunate that Claire acted like a total wimp and didn't make the most basic resistance formally. Add to that, that both doctors knew that she gave them the clue they needed for the grump's issues. The firing might have stood after due process, which is required by employment law, but not the way it went down.

Luke is a jerk. I too find it difficult to believe that if they had enough light to play game of shrimp toss, then he would have seen her face, and even without the light he would have heard her voice. And he had spent enough time with nurse Claire to know she wasn't gold digging.

And where was Mrs. Godfrey. They made a big deal about how important and demanding she was and yet she did basically nothing except for the Fairy Godmother part.

Like I said. Nothing in common with realism. Still it was distracting.

Jillian Murray was a breath of fresh air in a sea of chaos. She fit the Cinderella role pretty well. Belle Warren as Payton was another bright spot.

Just left with one question
jvjr-537739 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I watched the movie and then read the reviews. I am a little surprised by the negative reaction to Luke. I mean he had his moments and did not do everything perfectly, but he was in a new place, dealing with conflict and had a stressful job. He generally rebounded and his interest in both his interests was genuine. A few imperfections or imperfect moments are not a bad thing, but overall he seemed to have good character as a person, so was generally likeable. Claire was almost a little to perfect in many respects, always happy, always looking great, and well liked except by the "villains".

My question: After all that time how can the waiter see her one time and recognize her and they spend so much time together and he not? Maybe the looks changed, maybe, but the voice, the general appearance were similar enough that you would think he'd say something like you remind me of this girl?

The guy is dumb
tracybrozek26 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The girl looks exactly the same as in the elevator. There was no Clark Kent glasses or anything when she was a nurse. He is like I'm so in love with this girl that looks exactly like you but it couldn't be you. Also when mean nurse started attacking her at the party he wasn't like woah hold on and protect her or try to investigate what was going on. He was took the ugly mean nurses side. This wasn't worth my brain cells to watch. The only thing was good was the girl was sweet and her character was good.

One medication I wish I hadn't taken
KehDBug30 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This gets an extra star for a riff on the plot of being stuck in an elevator without there being a kiss between the leads. However, the whole movie is just ridiculous. You've got a sweet leading lady and she STILL wants the doctor even after he humiliates and degrades her multiple times. You've got the shameful depiction of the honorable nursing profession (they do the same tired old thing with the PTA, too, which is an honorable ALL VOLUNTEER organization). The icing on the cake is that the doctor spends the entire movie searching for this women he thinks he's fallen in love with on the elevator, only to not even recognize her when he sees her. Yet the waiter that worked for the catering company instantly recognizes her when he sees her again. In order for these stories to work, both leads need to be likeable, and the doctor just WASN'T. Take my advice and don't refill this prescription.

Jillian Murray makes this movie watchable
tatlayoung29 February 2020
This is a very predictable storyline. No surprises except for how watchable Jillian Murray is. Usually a movie like this, I would have stopped watching after 5 minutes. But I couldn't take my eyes off of her the whole way. She made me cheer for a character with absolutely no depth! Even though I knew exactly what would happen, I wanted to keep watching because of her. The movie itself deserves a rating of 2 out of 10 - I've given it a 5 because of her. If that sounds like not much praise, I disagree - this could have the greatest actors or all time playing these roles and it would still be a terrible and predictable movie. I hope Jillian Murray will get a chance to play a really excellent character soon so that we can see how she does when she actually has some material to work with!
