bad

Amanda (Chelsea Ricketts) gets attacked in her own home by a masked man. She manages to escape into the bathroom and the cops arrive after her friend calls 911. James Dawson is the overly helpful police detective. Detective Valencia tells Amanda about the rash of break-ins and suggests getting a gun. Valencia suspects Dawson of wrong doing and is killed by a masked man setting it up as a suicide. Dawson insinuates himself into her life as her 24 hour guardian. Liam is her ex who wants to be more than her business partner.

This is not a mystery since so much of it is revealed from the start. All the tension is drained. There is no drama in the drama. The only surprise is that every male role is a murdering scumbag. Even the one big surprise is revealed way before it's revealed. There is no thought to the script. The first dumb scene is Valencia's murder. It's a series of conveniently orchestrated events. She can't be carrying one of those window glass punch. She has to usually leave her gun in her car which cops should never do. Cops are supposed to lock it up at home. It's definitely not supposed to be left in their cars. It's really bad when one has to do a lot of logic gymnastics even if it is a Lifetime movie. It is downright infuriating. It becomes a wait-a-thon until a specific murder when another obvious suspect is illuminated. Honestly, I would have been more impress if the Captain turns out to be the other killer.

You ask why?

Because it's so corny.

Suspenseless

I give it an abysmal 3 out of 10 IMDb rating.

Its good for killing time.
andreatodman2 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Willful suspension of disbelief is required to get thru thugs one. So many things just don't make sense.

After the home invasion, Det Valencia chastised him in front of Amanda and her. Really?

How did Liam know that Detective Valencia was killed via suicide? Dawson hadn't mentioned it? Why did Dawson report to Amanda that Valencia was murdered, not her business.

Amanda sneaks into a police station, totally unnoticed? Really?

So many issues.

Don't waste your time - life is too short!! *SPOILER ALERT* Warning: Spoilers
This movie is incredibly stupid!! The acting is horrible! There are so many spots where people's reactions/actions don't make sense and made me roll my eyeballs and yell at the TV - lol! I laughed out loud many times where the scene was supposed to be dramatic! The twist at the end was so stupid considering how evil the cop was! What are the chances that an evil cop would be put on the case!? How stupid could the cop's boss or other cops be not to see that he was a criminal himself? Amanda says at the beginning of the movie that if her attacker had been the size of Liam then she wouldn't have had a chance, meanwhile it WAS him!! He was quite a bit bigger than the cop yet she believes that the cop was her attacker? STUPID!! The writing for this movie is pathetic!! What a waste of 2 hours of our lives!!

Really Dumb
Jenna199224 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I am one who can suspend reality on many of these Lifetime movies. But witin the first 10 minutes, I just couldn't. The female detective tells Amanda she needs to go buy a gun. It's the only way she can protect herself!! Then Amanda goes to a shooting range and with a two minute lesson is a crack shot - she hit the "head", a hard shot, five times in a row. In the next scene, the female detective's garage door won't open, so she gets in her car and turns it on to try and open it. Ummm, there is a way to manually open a garage door. Of course, she dies.

I've probably let more slide with other Lifetime movies, but, maybe it's because of my training, I just can't. The dumb just continues with the movie.

So wooden - should be Who's planking me
don-dons11 October 2019
Saw this last night, would have turned over but hubby was actually in to it. The acting is so awful - the whole cast surely haven't had an acting lesson in their life?? One to avoid unless you want a showcase in how not to do it.

Who's Stalking Me

I actually am watching this as we speak. Almost turned the station from the beginning. I wonder, do you people who produce it, ever watch it on television when it comes on? I won't watch it again. It has been so annoying to try and hear what is being said. The background noise is too much. There shouldn't be any background noise when people are talking. Ever. I have extremely good hearing. Do you think we can just put the caption on, which is just as annoying. If you had watched this, you would have thought the same thing I did.

The perfect Detective
phd_travel25 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Michael Welch is a better actor than Lifetime standard more subtle and believable so when he's in it the movie isn't a waste of time. A girl is attacked in her home by a masked assailant. A very on the ball Detective investigates her case and protects her. Is he too into her? Her colleague and ex and her bff are a little suspicious when he spends too much time around her. Things unfold at a good pace. The only problem is the ending isn't that logical. After shooting the colleague it's strange he would have not been under investigation. There's a bit of female empowerment here in the way she tries to takes things into her own hands. A little twist at the end keeps things different.

Worth a watch.

Lousy
andyfridolin18 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Very lousy TV movie, with some really dumb decisions of the characters. Like one detective , which is stuck in her car and the door of her garage won't open. Motor is running, and no cellphone service. What does she do ? Yelling and as a detective doesn't think straight. She's sitting in a running car, FFS !!! Reverse and smash the garage door !!!! What's going on in those screenwriter's minds lately ???

Kept me entertained

Usually when I watch TV I am on the computer the entire time, but today I watched this movie and actually paid attention to it. I thought it was thrilling and the acting was pretty good.

It isn't that hard to guess the baddie, but this time I didn't mind because I wanted to see what all the person would do. In order for that to happen on screen, it needed to be revealed up front who it was.

I liked the "twist" at the end. I had no trouble hearing a single word due to background noise. What background noise? I'm confused.

More Twists Than a Chubby Checker Dance!
lavatch26 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The film title says it all: "Who's Stalking Me?" is about the protagonist Amanda learning who was the intruder that entered into her home, nearly murdering her in the process. Because the intruder was masked, the audience is kept guessing until the closing minute when the identity of the stalker is finally revealed.

The film was successful in unfolding a cat-and-mouse game that focuses our intention on the police detective James Dawson, who was the first to arrive on the scene after Amanda's best friend Jeanie dialed 911, when she was alerted that her friend was in trouble. Subsequently, Detective Dawson begins a personal relationship with Amanda that is troubling when the stalker still appears to be on the loose. Apparently, Dawson has also been recording her conversations and movements in her home with a hidden camera. Or has he?

The second person of interest is Amanda's former boyfriend Liam, who also happens to be her business partner. As the narrative unfolds, there is an ebb-and-flow in Amanda's relationship with Liam. Eventually, she takes him back as a romantic partner when she fears that Detective Dawson is the stalker.

Even from this brief summary, it should be apparent that the police are utterly incompetent in investigating the ongoing series of crimes that results in the death of Amanda's bestie, Jeanie. But the police work reaches a new low with Captain Marcus, who could have saved Jeanie's life by offering her protection, after Jeanie paid a personal visit to her at police headquarters.

The filmmakers are successful in keeping the audience guessing throughout the film, and the actress playing Amanda did a superb job in conveying the Kafkaesque feeling of living through a nightmare. The plot twists were more than enough for the audience to fathom. But the portrayal of Amanda's character required enough energy to carry out of marathon of Chubby Checker twists to music of the 1950s:

"They're twistin', twistin' Everybody's feelin' great. They're twistin', twistin' They're twistin' the night away."

GREAT Potential, Poorly Executed
MikeyKup24 August 2021
The premise of the movie is actually very interesting, and they had a great cast (Michael Welch, in particular) but the dialogue just felt a bit cringey to me. Cheesy may be a better word.

I appreciate the artistry of filmmaking and in that light, I give it a 6/10. I like to find my own symbolism in the movies I watch, something I can grab from it, but it was a little hard to do that with this film.

Strong premise, poorly executed. Michael Welch and Chelsea Ricketts did a wonderful job, given the script they were given to work with. Could have been better.

It could be better
MissAuburn12 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
There has to be a part 2 because if not the whole movie is a waste. The fact Liam broke into her house and the other detective was a crook. I do wonder if the cop framed Liam and in part 2, it will come out that the female who was defending the cop is actually a crook. I'd like to see a part 2, but the whole movie was kinda dumb. It was obvious the detective was guilty and Liam was shady.

Every male in this is a villain. Did I imagine that?
CranberriAppl13 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Even for Lifetime, that's a bit much. I'm into martial arts (thanks to my dad) and I've taken classes and been at the range, I've traveled on my own....this idea that because I'm a woman, I should inherently be afraid is ridiculous. There is a difference between being aware of your surroundings at all times and being afraid of your shadow. Amanda is yet another gullible protag who can't see what's right in front of her. Double time in this one. I don't know...I use these movies as background noise, so my threshold for Lifetime silliness is high, but it's a lot harder to sympathize with Lifetime "heroines," than it is with, for example, Sidney from Scream. Nothing Amanda does is smart, and I feel like I'm watching a condescending PSA.

I'm tired of these movies playing us for idiots. For example...Jeannie's attack and murder....they wrote the attacked by someone she knows trope. Well duh, that could only be one person since she did not trust the cop. Why would she be at ease w/him at her door after he gave her a fright?! If you know someone's name you tend to use it and yet in an effort to throw the audience, she NEVER says it while screaming for her life. He was hooded but no face mask, so it makes even less sense. It's like they intentionally didn't have her react in the most likely natural way aka saying his name, asking him why he was dressed like that etc. Lifetime also consistently, with men and women, have the hooded/gloved/in black/with boots character NOT be the same body type/size of the actual villain. In an effort to throw us off. That's a lie, not a twist. The first death...why did that happen? Unless I blinked, there was no explanation or motivation for it. Actually, neither of the deaths made sense when you think about which villain killed them. Why would either killer do it? It's not like either victim was close to finding out the truth.

Speaking of "twist:" What a dumb ending! Why did he attack her originally? What was his motivation, other than being the last male to be declared a villain? I'm going to assume this movie ran out of money and they had to cut Villain #2's monologue so they could have the final scene. It wasn't clear that he felt jilted by their breakup since they were still friends, business partners, and she fell for him again anyway. It didn't need to be spelled out in the most basic of terms, but if he was truly guilty, why is he shouting he's innocent and why does she look confused and unsure (unless she's a bad actress. Possible). Villain #1 was clearly manipulative by all of his behaviors, so I expected to get some sense of why #2 chose to be a bad buy as well. Never happened.

IDK...I watched this movie to the end, but the blatant propaganda irritated me greatly. Amanda was beyond gullible and that is a trait that increasingly irritates me in Lifetime movies. You were attacked in your home, but you let someone you just met choose and install your new security system? The other male villain (since remember, they are ALL bad guys) tried to make her consider this and he was right! Although his villainy was telegraphed early on and to anyone that knows these movies. Some other predictable things: allergic reactions (anytime it's mentioned, it will be used)..death in garage and yet somehow the person doesn't really try to save themselves...dead best friend...I'm sure there were other examples.

Random observation: as a youngster, I loved Sweet Valley Twins/High/College and seeing the guy who played Bruce as, you guessed it, another creep, was so surreal. Also, I'm in my 30s but as I age, and some of these newer Lifetime movies are done by 20 somethings, they are not very intimidating unless they are really good actors...which is rare on this network.

Watch it once, but as another reviewer says, life is short so you might not finish it.

Another bad script, bad Canadian movie.
drbreakwell27 July 2021
Bad acting, bad script. "Star" too trusting. What women would allow a cop to install a security system and what cop pay for it. Music way too loubd, couldn't here the dialogue. No smooth transition between scenes.

typical lifetime love problems movie
NijazBaBs27 March 2019
This one more out of so many lifetimes typical movies. They are almost all about the same topics like obsession, love, criminal and crime, psychopath. What I did not like is that it is too typical. Nothing new compared to similar movies like "at 17" titles. It is mostly easy to predict, to figure things out, and to conclude the story. What I did like is the professional few acting skills of so young detective. He had courage. Also many realistic things like jealousy and fight of two boys over girl. Feeling of power of one over other. There was turnover in the end but this is so quick, done by force, that it did not improve movie that much. Still not good enough, nothing extra to see compared to other lifetime channel movies.

"Who's Stalking Me?" WAS THE TV Title
kupcr6 March 2021
I couldn't locate this movie at all on IMDB until I realized it's under its actual title "Agent Of Deceipt". I remember watching this before as soon as I watched actress Chelsea Ricketts walk across the kitchen floor and WOW, she looked awesome! Now, I LIKED actor Michael Welch as Detective Dawson and remember him in an episode of Stargate: SG1 as a young Colonel Jack O'Neill in the season 3 episode "Fragile Balance" as a cloned Jack O'Neill. He's quite a versatile actor, but also in an episode of "LAW &Order: SVU". Regarding this movie, most of the reviewers here didn't really like this movie, but it was typical of a 'stalker' movie and the ending was quite a twist. I won't give it away, but What an ending. I suggest that you cast all your doubt aside and just watch for that explosive ending.
