What a Terrible gag they used.
uzzie-357-5165795 January 2021
Literally paused the episode due to the long name gag at the birthday song being repeated for the THIRD time. What's with this show and cutout scene gags being overplayed/dragged and things like this? It's beyond rubbish and just lazy and horrible.

The show overall is okay but the overdone cutout scenes all the time is just annoying now and I shall fast forward through them at times now. This was the first time I skipped parts due to the name gag too. Horrendous idea. Horribly overplayed and overdone things.

Well I don't know they've used to create funny plot and interesting jokes but now all you can see lame nothing. Just cartoons for kids...

The "long name gag" literally made me stop binge watching this show. For a while.
ohamberxx310 March 2019
I had been binge watching this on Hulu (while I played on my phone) for a few hours and them saying a name for 1 minute irritated me but then they did it AGAIN and I am just done with this show. It legitimately made me hate this entire show.

True What South Park Says: Family Guy Is Written by Dolphins Now
PowerSheetAI3 December 2018
Family Guy standards have lowered soooo much. It used to be one of my wife's and my favorite shows, and is none one of our least favorite shows.

South Park really got it right with the idea that dolphins are randomly selecting balls to write the script.

The most recent episode (Season 17, Episode 8 / S17E08) "Con Heiress" is literally the worst Family Guy episode ever!

Skip right to the last 10 seconds (the only interesting part) and save yourself the pain of watching this. My wife and myself are both questioning whether to continue watching Family Guy after this. Extremely tedious.

Skip over the "long name gag" as they literally spend 1-2 minutes reciting a name and do it 4 times throughout the show as a filler material.

The song and dances are all long and tedious too, and the random non-sequitur cutaway scenes are increasingly random time-fillers which aren't funny.

Though I don't find even South Park (one of my favorite shows) offensive, I must say the humor has gotten pretty crass, going for shock value, as seen in that episode especially.

Maybe Family Guy should go the route of South Park, F Is For Family and other popular animated comedies and go for a connected story-arch across episodes (as I thought was the case with the few semi-recent "Brian gets an apartment" episodes, but sadly failed to follow through with.

Writers need to go
krazyjakee3 December 2018
The damage episodes like this do to each season will kill this show. There are some gems this season but whoever is responsible for the writing of this episode MUST go. You see similarities with other bad episodes. I bet there is one or two people who are responsible for taking lead on these kinds of episodes and if removed, could help bring it back.

Worst episode in awhile
soliev5 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I have a feeling this was the worse episode in awhile. The jokes were low, the extension of time was frustrating (they did before, but this time was over the normality). I feel horrible for viewers, fans and animators.

One of the worst imo
bowieavatar31 January 2019
I just didn't like this episode. Partly because listening to a 1 minute long name grew old quickly. The herbert parts weren't very funny either.

Obviously an episode showing they are out of ideas
noahyingling4 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
The jokes were so drawn out in this episode that they are obviously just trying to fill time. The whole storyline is just showing how, essentially, half of the cast is trying to con each other. The show needs to be cancelled.

Great episode
checkinac3 December 2018
This episode was funny. This show is not afraid of being controversial and don't give a damn about the virtue signaling social justice warriors. This show still has life. Keep it up Family Guy.

The worst gag since Conway Twitty
damionbeckner7 September 2019
Family Guy is a show well know for its long drawn out and overall boring gags (Conway Twitty being the prime example) but this episode takes it up a notch and hits a new low. There's a gag where a name is said that is so long it takes near 45 seconds to say, and they do it not once, twice, but THREE TIMES. The main story is a generic get rich scheme and the subplots are just as bad. Skip this episode, it's one of TVs worst

Worst episode ever...
stevencollins-857811 March 2020
They are out of ideas. this show isnt good any more. South park got it right years ago when they pointed out it's just random stuff chucked together.

(Also the long name gag is the worst thing ever and to do it 3 times and joke about doing it a 4th)

This episode has actually made me not want to see any family guy again for a while.

Con Heiress
bobcobb3014 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This was too absurd. Mr. Hebert is usually good for a laugh or two, but the character was beyond terrible, and don't even get me started on the ending.

Stewie and Brian did have some funny lines, but their storyline was weird as well.

To Get the Joke in the Middle, Use Close Captioning
babyfir7717 December 2018
Wow, does this episode get a lot of hate!!!! Well, I thought it was pretty good, but of course not great. One story as Mr Herbert falling in lust with someone else, and Stewie & Brian trying to con some ladies. But the part that you need to use close caption to understand the joke is the extremely ridiculous long name of the most richest heiress. What makes it funny is that Stewie repeats the same name after Brian does and just read it! It is hilarious. We use close captions for all the shows so we don't miss any jokes.

Skip!
mariusleistad2 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Family Guy can at times be quite funny, but this episode is just, just terrible. There is not one laugh to find here, not one.

This episode is so lazilly written that I suspect that a teenager wrote it in hurry to get outside. The name gag just made me mad, the first time, the second time I skipped, so do yourself a favour and skip this all together, not worth your time.

Another Herbert episode coupled with five minutes of a long name joke
jssymbpadnt16 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This episode is very skipable, they really phoned in the story with Brian and Stewie and devoted what felt like forever three times with the name bit... no payoff there, just lazy writing.

Shame they didn't kill Herbert for real.

This is legitimately the worst episode I've ever seen. Not just "meh" but I actually hated it. Not worth 20 minutes of your time.

Hilarious!!
magnum_man4 December 2018
This was the funniest episode of the season so far. A day later and I am still cracking up just thinking about it. The episodes that feature old man Herbert always seem to be the funniest ones every season. That guy is hilarious! Seth McFarlane is a genius!! This show never gets old. It never ceases to make me laugh hysterically.

The Jokes Here Are Weak
adog200111 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I haven't watched the show in a while since season 16. And seeing how low rated all the episodes in season 17, I chose to watch this episode since this was the most low rated episode next to You Can't Handle The Booth. Tbh, the long name gag in this episode that everyone here mentioned was boring from the get-go. And guess what? They do that two more times in this episodes probably to bore you out. So yeah. I would recommend you to skip this one as the episode gets worse. 2 out of 10 for me.
