Blame It on midlife crisis. Fun one time watch.
Fella_shibby22 July 2019
A middle-aged man (Devgn) dates a 25 year old girl who somehow has a hot body but chubby cheeks n nowhere close to Michelle Johnson from Blame It on Rio.

Things go awry when the man visits his ex wife (Tabu) for their daughter's wedding. He has to introduce his girlfriend as his secretary, himself as the brother of his ex wife n his son falls in love with the secretary. This film has a lil resemblance to Blame It on Rio, of course minus the nudity n sex. Ther is enuff humor but has unnecessary songs. The performances r top notch with some soothing cinematography. Kudos to Devgn for sportingly taking the old man jokes. They shud have given more footage to Javed Jaffrey. The female who played the daughter is very irritating.

This film has a hidden meaning regarding divorce. Most fellas hav this shame-based ideology of divorce. This film portrayed that divorce need not have to be bad. In fact divorce can be a new phase if partners separate amicably. I missed this film when it released in theaters cos of Ramadan fasting. Saw this yesterday.

De De Pyaar De Review, An Enjoyable Ride of 1 hour. - itsbymayank
mayanklouteriya25 May 2019
So, The movie start slow first 40min or I can say first half is boring because Ajay Devgn and Rakul P Singh is in it all the time. Ajay around 50yrs and Rakul half of his age fall in love. Sometimes, for a minute Javed Jaffery Comes but didn't make me laugh. And then the interval happen after interval movie is enjoyable. There is no turns/twist but story makes audiance curious that how Ajay will manage the situation or what will happen next. Characters are good, the same "Sonu Ki Tittu ki Sweety" characters are there Aloknath as Father and her same wife, there are some new people like Jimmy Shergil etc. The all Characters as AjayDevgn's Family worked very well they served smile and laughter. Overall the movie is watchable and if you arrive late to the movie, don't worry they lead actors and actress only met and starting loving each other so its ok. The real drama starts after interval believe me. So I can easily say director/writer make it lengthy. I was feeling sleepy a bit while watching before interval but after interval the fun ride started. Songs are good and if you are a senti/emotional person then you'll cry a bit that's it. The movies shows the barriers and the rule/traditions of our Society(Samaj) and how the movie gives a message of modern youth/Society to other people of Society. I am not saying the seniors are wrong or youth is, the thing is both are right but ignore the facts and believe in legacy. That's the problem. I have given 6 for 1 hour of Enjoyable Ride.

De De Pyaar De Will Keep You Entertained With Its Hilarious Comic Scenes
ketgup8318 May 2019
LuvRanjan has earned a tag of using misogynistic plot for his films like Pyaar Ka Punchnama, Pyaara Ka Punchnama 2 and SonuK Sweety but De De Pyaar De was different.

De De Pyaar De tells the story of Aashish (Ajay Devgn) who falls for girl half his age, Aisha (RakulPreetSingh), but the problem is he has to get approval from his ex-wife , Manju (Tabu).

After making hilarious films like PyaarKaPunchnama, PyaarKaPunchnama2 and SonuKeTittuKiSweety, Luv Ranjan passes the director's cap to Akiv Ali who makes it a fun loving film. The movie touches upon some great comic moments that is sure to bring down the house. The interaction of Ajay Devgn with his family (Tabu and AlokNath), the girl fight between Rakul Preet and Tabu will entertain you to the core. Luv Ranjan is known for witty and humorous dialogues and De De Pyaar De does have some great funny ones that is sure to tickle your funny bones especially in the second half.

Art direction is nice while Cinematography is cool. Editing is bad and could have been further trimmed. First half is decent but it is the second half which gathers the steam. Songs are just about okay. Coming to the performances, Ajay Devgn steals the thunder once again with his outstanding performance. The actor has just superb expressions to emote when he is sandwiched in the cat fight between Rakul and Tabu. Alok Nath will again surprise you his witty humour. Tabu is mind blowing and is sure to win your heart. Rakul Preet looks gorgeous and does fine but could work on her expressions. Javed Jaffrey and Jimmy Shergill does well in miniscule role.

On the whole, De De Pyaar De is a good entertainment which will be enjoyed for comic scenes.

Love will find a way

De De Pyar De - if you were intrigued by the trailer and dismissed De De Pyar De is a mindless comedy, then it's worth a trip to the theatre. This film revolves around a 50-year old man falling in love with a girl half his age and its consequences. The subject is dealt with adept sensitivity by the debutante director Akiv Ali, who keeps the initial flirtation and courting brief, and yet confronts the debate over the future of such a relationship between the couple. When they have made up their mind to proceed with their relationship, it's showtime - introduction to the man's family and orientation is in order, and this is where hell breaks loose.

The storytelling is snappy and lighthearted, but it keeps going back to do a reality check on a number of subjects like midlife crisis, a single mother's pressure bringing up her children, the children's rebellious psychology (I thought that the daughter's reaction was completely the top, lacked civility and was the only sore point), the turmoil of the generation gap between the young girl and the much older man and the genuine efforts to come to terms with reality.

Ajay Devgn is suave, in great shape and gives a rock solid performance swinging between the mature man and a crisis-hit lover. Rakul Preet shines bright in a tailor made role, flaunting sophistication, sex appeal, volatility being branded the "other woman". Tabu hits home her natural flair, delivering yet another confident and superlative role. Jimmy Shergil, Alok Nath, Kumud Mishra and Javed Jaffrey provide adequate support. London and Manali are fantastic as the backdrop of the drama, which you can say won't appeal to the masses generally, on the downside. Catch De De Pyar De for some fun and if you're in mood for some thought provoking moments.

AN ORGANIC FUN RIDE WITH INTELLIGENT DIALOGUE WRITING !
SAMTHEBESTEST17 May 2019
DE DE PYAAR DE REVIEW :

De De Pyaar De was seeking attention from the trailer itself when we knew a successful name like Luv Ranjan is coming after Super Hit SKTKS. But one doubt was spoiling the mind that he's not the Director this time but just a producer, so were we supposed to trust New Director like Akiv Ali? No, we were not. Keeping the expectations Low for the valid reasons told, has worked on High note for De De Pyaar De as Akiv Ali manages to exceed the expectations by fair margin. DDPD can surely be called a Successful Debut for any Director in this genre. But how much successful? Let's find out.

De De Pyaar De is not a Love traingle but it is pretended to be a love triangle in urban style where sophistication doesn't stand for a long time. It is a story of Rich guy around 45 and a hot young girl of 26 falling in love of each other in London. The guy is Divorced (not actually) who decides that his Girlfriend should meet his Ex-wife and other family members in India before they get married. That Family visit creates fiasco and then lies, cover ups and relationship bond theories are explored. The narrative here is Funny, Entertaining and engaged especially in the first half while the ending portion is bit dragged and unexpectedly slow. The biggest USP of the film is it's Dialogue writing, you get into it at the beginning and you never go out of the Intelligent Conversations until the lukewarm ending arrives. You may remember the Flirting conversation of Ajay and Rakul for some time or might even use some of those dialogues in real life. As an Actor Ajay Devgn is decent, his acting talent deserves better roles indeed, this wasn't it. Rakul Preet looks Hot, Spicy and she is talkative as hell. The most sensible character is played by Tabu and she keeps the sensible act intact. Supporting cast along with Special appearance of Javed Jafferry and Jimmy Shergill will surely receive your love. Music department is fairly good, although some songs appear at the wrong occassions it can't be blamed fully because couple of situational songs lifts the screenplay up.

Coming to the main thing, the writer and the Director of the film Akiv Ali did leave an impact. As a debut Director he surely deserves the credit and therefore some mistakes can be forgiven. He makes sure you don't lose the interest, you don't lose the grin smile on your face, he keep you immersed with the narrative for 100 minutes and then last 20 minutes might not be that tall but again the last scene of the film hits it back to the tempo along with interesting hint on the Sequel. The only thing he lacked was, the Bang On Climax. Luv Ranjan Films had the Climax lifting it up and may be that's why the repeat value was there, here Akiv miss that but he still has guaranteed Hit material in hand. Overall, De De Pyaar De is an Organic Fun ride with special mention to dialogues writing and is surely watchable for the youths, couples and even family members (with lots of beeps). It could have been the 7/10 film but that not so intellectual climax made the difference.

Forgot to Laugh
pratyush261127 May 2019
There is a partner swapping competition going on throughout the movie. Ajay looks too old for these kind of roles. Rakul tries to prove her mettle in the industry. Tabu was on the point. Can't believe that an actor like Jimmy Shergill still get very few lines. Ajay's son was decent but his daughter was irritating. I had a hard time to digest this script as comedy, irrespective of its box office collection.

Very enjoyable movie except......
sunildaswaney17 May 2019
"De De Pyar De"was a very good movie except for 3 points viz.the unnecessary songs, the poor ending and Ajay Devgn. I did not agree with the ending, but will refrain from commenting on it as I do not want to provide any spoilers here. Ajay Devgn is a total misfit when it comes to soft mushy romantic and comic roles. Somehow in this movie more than usual, he looked especially old, tired and highly ordinary. He is ideally suited for roles like he plays in "Singham",but not for roles like this one. If Anil Kapoor had played the part instead of AD and they had left out the songs and had a proper ending the movie would have been a classic comedy. Rakul was like a breath of fresh air and was brilliant in the movie as Tabu was as always. All in all except for the 3 points,a very enjoyable movie. 7/10

DDPD is a fun ride that tells the fact that when it comes to love, age is just a number.
Tejas_Vinda_AITS17 May 2019
A middle-aged man living in London falls in love with a girl half his age..!

All started when he tries to seek approval from his separated wife and family back in India.

"This is not an age gap, it's a generation gap," warns Ashish Mehra's (Ajay Devgn) Doctor (Javed Jaffrey), when he learns about his client cum friend's affair with a 20-something hottie Ayesha (Rakul Preet Singh).

But it's not a one-sided love story that has a man dating his beti ki umar ki ladki. It's a full-fledged love affair.

Harmless flirting between two different personalities, leads them to discover that they can be more than just a habit for each other. This is pretty much what the first half of 'De De Pyaar De' (DDPD) is all about.

Ajay Devgn is in top form playing his age and he lets the audience laugh at him for being repeatedly called Buddha and 'Uncle' in the film.

His chemistry with a young and vivacious Rakul Preet Singh doesn't feel out of place.

Tabu excels with her understated performance and measured expressions & her comic timing is spot on.

For most part, DDPD remains light and fluffy with awkward situations and conflicts in the second half.

The songs are weak, but the background score is consistently strong to lift many of the scenes.

The film maturely handles a few touchy topics like divorce, live-ins and age-inappropriate romance, without getting too overbearing.

Director Akiv Ali wraps it up with a slightly unpredictable climax minus the melodrama.

Overall, DDPD is a fun ride that tells the fact that when it comes to love, age is just a number.

Majority of the film is immensely entertaining, a few twists in the second half seem bizarre. But before it turned dumb or foolish, director Ali manages to control things in.

Poorly written film with tiring screenplay
djdevansh9519 May 2019
De De Pyar De is another disaster film of Luv Rajan universe! As you already know that it deals about a 50 year old man who is not thinking his age as a middle life crises, and falls in love with a 26 years old spontaneous , full of life girl. See the premise is not new and we already witnessed the brilliant film dealing with this topic called Cheeni Kum. Let me tell you why this why this film is a disaster comparing Cheeni Kum. The biggest let down of this film is its lack luster writing accept Ashish ( Ajay Devgan ) every other characters looks like a single line brief like the daughter of Ajay has been briefed that you should be angry all the time while your father appears because he is never there for her when needed. Because of that she appears very single dimensional. Like her there are no depth in other characters. And in Cheeni Kum every single character appeared layered be it Tabbu's father who is younger than Amitabh. He accepts his retirement although exactly Amitabh's character is opposite , while they shared scene together it is beautifully showing that age is just a number and how you deal with it , it is up to you. Thats the difference! Deep writing and briefs make that possible! Talking about acting , both Tabu and Ajay did OK, could have been better. Every other characters is either bad or wasted! It is a distance!

An entertaining Rom-Com movie!
culsivaji12 June 2019
The movie had a decent plot. A 50-year old NRI businessman (Ashish Mehera) and a young 26-year-old woman (Ayesha khurana) fall in love, and eventually want to marry after seeking approval of businessman's parents, who live in Manali. But there is more chaos and confusion involving Ashish's ex-wife (Manju Rao). Over the time, Ayesha and Manju fail to get along, and in the turn of the events the confusions get cleared.

In terms of story, the movie dealt with subjects such as mid-life crisis, pressure of a single-mother raising the kids alone. The 1st half of the movie was pretty well-paced with intermediate humor. The 2nd half started tad-slow but picked up the pace and touched upon some good comic moments involving Ishaan (Ashish's Son) and Ayesha. Ishika's (Ashish's daughter) character, however, was a bit irritating as she was frustrated with his father's appearance almost all of the time. Rakul Preet acted quite well, but the character she assumed had a superlative role. The movie ended quite well with a simple age-old message "When it comes to love, age is just a number"

All-in-all it's a one-time watch with family or friends.

Molecule Review: De De Pyaar De (6 Stars)
nairtejas16 July 2019
Apart from the ounces of good comedy, what De De Pyaar De (Give Me Some Love) does is bust the tabooed topic of sex in India. It reduces it to an activity involving physical contact, which is how it should be, regardless of its attachment to a relationship or matrimony. I personally did not think I would find so much depth in a film presented by Luv Ranjan and I need to hand it to director Akiv Ali for really taking the comic film in that route. The plot is as insane as it sounds and has a convoluted structure but you get that idea even from its poster, so can't blame anyone. Just looking at Devgn is funny enough for me, and I found Rakul Preet Singh a bit amateurish as the unruly character but I guess the script needed her to be. Overall, De De Pyaar De really gives you a lot of comedy to sit back at the end of a busy day and laugh at. TN.

Well-made, entertaining and light-hearted Bollywood Rom-Com.
Amyth4721 August 2019
My Rating : 7/10

A very easy to be engaged with movie thanks to it's simple subject matter which is given a light-hearted comedic treatment without the unnecessary melodrama that plagues majority of Bollywood.

Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Rakul all give their best and the movie is a well-made nacho-gaana movie when you're in the mood for something cheerful and entertaining without the burden of heavy dialogues/drama.

Great for a one-time viewing!
