Surprisingly effective

This low budget, dreams as nightmares as premonitions entry played recently at The Southwest Ohio Film Festival. All anyone wanted to talk about was the budget, however I think the story with it's, at times depressing, exciting and overall fun twists is worth mentioning as well. Is this a perfect film? No but the story is fun, always fast paced at times overly melancholy for me but that's just my two cents. I have a feeling that this will make the run through festival circuits for the rest of 2019 and if it happens to play near you I'd recommend it. The cast is surprisingly good, and the soundtrack is makes good use of a actual songs with lyrics rather than the usual background tones. Overall 7 out of 10 from me.

Why the high rating

I only gave this 2 stars because of one blood soaked scene with the lead, she looks like a young Anjelica Huston. The rest is feminist, liberal lesbian propaganda. I want my $15 back.

Low budget bad trip but in the best way possible.

Warning: Spoilers
The low budget shows here, however it's nothing short of a small miracle that on the reposted $1,000 budget, The Toad manages to pull off a strange and original story. All of the performances are game and invested, with a stand out performance from the blonde in the second story, her untimely death at the hands of two creepy furries made me genuinely mourn her passing. The entire film plays like a nightmare or a bad trip come to life, with some punched up visuals and budget I have a feeling this could very well be franchise fodder, but then it would undoubtedly lose that edge and originality.

Something strange

I happened to catch this at NOLAIFF, I was told expect the strange. This no budget indie delivered on that promise. In the first act I thought oh no this is low budget wannabe Lynch or Cronenberg but by the last act I had changed my tune to this is low budget weirdness influenced by Lynch or Cronenberg, but certainly it's own beast. It kept me guessing and entertained, my only real complaint was at a svelte hour and 20 minute runtime when the end rolled around I had so many questions left.
