Has some nice character beats. The villain is delightfully freaky.

Warning: Spoilers
I actually thought this was a pretty good episode with the exception of a few things. I really liked how Cisco was played in this episode. It was spot on with the Cisco of old and was like a revival of Cisco from the early seasons. It was very good to see.

I dug the Rag Doll villain; we just didn't see enough of him.

It was the same with the namesake of the show, the Flash. The show is called The Flash. Can we not see more of the Flash saving people and kicking asses? That is what the Flash does in the comics; it's what he did in the first few seasons of this show. It would be nice to have that back. It's why most of us watch the show. We want to see our favorite super hero--or one of our favorites--do his thing.

Also, it's about time Elongated Man was portrayed correctly. In this episode, as with Cisco, Elongated Man was spot on.

One last thing: The scene with Iris jumping off the building was way over the top. The scene could have been tightened up quite a bit just through better writing. I understand there is a time-limit to the episode and there is only so much time to get everything in. That said, the scene could have been even more suspenseful, more powerful, and more grounded like this: At the same time Ralph and Iris rush toward Rag Doll and Barry. Ralph tackles Rag Doll while Iris rushes to Barry and inserts the key in the dampener cuffs (while Ralph and Rag Doll are intensely fighting). Rag Doll kicks Iris from behind, knocking her and Barry off the ledge. She holds onto Barry and turns the key on the dampener cuffs, releasing them. Barry is freed. He grabs her and takes her down to the ground, to be followed by Ralph, who has subdued Rag Doll by engulfing him. Much more grounded and much more suspenseful.

8.5 out of 10.

Creepy villain but boring story.
cruise0121 June 2019
The Flash 5.05 (3 out of 5 stars).

The episode does not improve with its boring story. But it does deliver a creepy villain that bends the body into any shape. With a creepy mask that makes this episode a bit entertaining. The sub plot with Iris and her future daughter still having conflict and quite boring. Caitlin still trying to learn about her mysterious father. Decent action. Creepy villain. And a slow moving story.

Steady Once Again ! CGI hideous ! Intriguing Villan ! IRIS !
mysticalviper-6653614 November 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Season 5 has continued to be proven steady once again, even with a filler episode there was some strong moments. What to say first, that CGI scene when Iris and Barry were falling off the building was horrendous. I get it TV show, 23 episodes but I mean next time please figure out a way to finish off the fight rather than that CGI mess.

This weeks Villan Ragdoll was an intriguing Villan, as stupid and as filler as he might seem he kept mine and probably your attention for the episode. His weird and unique powers showed the show runners are not completely out of creativity.

Iris, Iris, Iris this week was not as bad as most but please please go back to reporting. Barry no more date nights !!! But she could have been more annoying writing and acting were alright tonight. I will continue to take iris week by week can't give up hope yet. Please listen to our calls lol.

Killer frost seems to be coming back next week, seems fairly new and unique what there doing with Caitlin's father who hasn't been a topic for the shows entirty. Sherloque, Cisco and Ralph seem to be an ok trio with the some decent moments and dialogue. Hopeful that the season will stay consistent. Not bad, can't wait for the 100th episode !!

Laughable

I've found myself laughing through this whole season, it's so over the top, it's so goofy, it's so ridiculous, that it's genuinely funny. In a way that is making me enjoy it more than I enjoyed seasons 3 or 4. It's actually hilarious watching this all unfold and it's honestly quite entertaining while also being cringe worthy and crazy. Whole thing is just dumb fun while Arrow around this time in the show was dark and gritty, it's funny comparing the two shows.

Best episode of the season!
anthonyvera-6210414 November 2018
This episode had the right amount of heart, emotion, and action! When the show focuses on splitting up the team it works best. The highlight for me was Barry and Iris teaming up like in the comics! They work so well as a couple and as a CSI/ Journalist duo. More episodes like these please!

Why does Iris hate everyone?
garabedian12315 November 2018
She is supposed to be in love with Barry? I don't see the chemistry. And her drama is just too over the top..so much women bs drama...I hate having to fast forward. Loved the spiderman thing...even if the cgi was terrible

Best episode of the season
alexiswaverider21 November 2018
Definitely my favorite episode of season 5. Ragdoll was creepy, Iris did some investigation, Barry did some CSI work, Iris reflected and confronted her fear of turning out like her mother, Cecile and Nora had some great scenes, Barry and Iris got to glam up to go undercover for a story which also doubled for a date and Iris got to be badass. That swan-dive is the stuff of legends.

Freaky but not thrilling...
asb_deutsch19 November 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Season 3 showed Iris pointing out the importance of Emotional Intelligence. Season 5 it is Barry's turn. Again, we see that the director has shown Doll-Man not a villain but a necessary evil.

  • Mimicking the Burj Khalifa
  • There wasn't proper screen time for Mr. Doll; there should be a follow-up episode in the future.
+ Like Infinity War, the characters were separated which gives room for more character development. + Elongated Man saves the day!

My ratings (based on what I marked on IMDb): Season 1: 200/23 = 8.69; Season 2: 193/23= 8.23; Season 3: 188/23= 8.17; Season 4: 146/23= 6.65 and Season 5= 34/5= 6.8

Rag Doll terrifies as The Flash delights!
jaythezoomster12 May 2019
After the misstep that was "News Flash" I was hesitant going into "All Doll'd Up". I figured we were going to be getting more of the same poorly thought out drama that we had in the previous episode and I was getting a little tired of Nora acting the way she was. Thankfully, though, the Flash's fifth episode of this season surprised me.

Rag Doll is a truly terrifying and downright fun villain to see. Contortionist Troy James does wonders for the episode in helping Rag Doll feel like an actual meta-human.

Nora and Iris get some much needed development this episode as Cecile helps Nora see how great her mom can be and Iris shows that she's a true badass by lunging off of a building to catch Barry.

Another great thing about this episode has got to be Ralph's great Spider-Man homage as he swings through the city to catch up to Rag Doll and Barry! It was a delight to watch and proved he's got such an interesting powerset.

Thanks to a very solid meta-human threat, great emotional and family scenes and a nice climax "All Doll'd Up" delivers a nice rebound from the trite and mostly boring "News Flash".

Rag Time and Caitlin stories good ... Barry being Supportive Great ... Iris ... ugh.
hartnsoul-1171326 June 2020
First off let's just get this out right now ... Iris is NOT a MOTHER ... not at this time! I'm sorry this FACT makes this whole episode just annoying.

Iris is Upset because Nora "hates her". Okay, Deal with it! She's not your daughter. She is your future self's daughter. Iris and Barry have Not Conceived a child. ... and from the moment Nora has told them about herself, all bets are off that Nora will be who they have.

But, Iris hasn't spent nine months let alone 25 year raising anyone. She and Barry are still Newlyweds. After all Barry was jailed practically right after their wedding and they were consumed with defeating DeVoe. Barry even reminds her with their 'never having had a First Dance' comment.

Iris has met a woman who happens to share her DNA; who has history with a different Iris West. An Iris West who raised a child without her husband to support her.

There is what, only about a three year age difference between them (Nora says she's 25, Iris is what maybe 27?). If Iris and Nora had met, say at Jitters, and started a conversation, without Nora mentioning any connection, would they have even become friends? Iris needs to calm down and Nora needs to act like a twenty something, not a teenager having a tantrum.

Iris is jealous of Nora's need to connect with Barry (at least she doesn't have to worry about there being a romantic reason). Barry is feeling the connection because of the speedforce and his own history with making timeline changes. But, he is training Nora just as he did Kid Flash and Jessie Quick ... he is passing on his knowledge.

There was really no need to reveal last week her feelings towards Iris. I mean - okay the writers may have wanting to keep up the anger issue (especially after a 2 week hiatus). But they didn't need try So hard!

These three people DON'T need to form an instant family. They can become family, just as all of the other speedsters and heros have ... slowly by making bonds. They can become friends NOT Parents - that ship has sailed.

Iris's whole speech about what she did to Nora is done with this horrible present tense emotion. Barry's answer nails issue on the head! "You are never going to become the person that Nora knows in the future." Grant's acting is wonderful; his portrayal of Barry earnestly trying to be a good father and teacher is great. But, it's when he is really showing us Barry connecting as a newlywed (still in love with his wife) that he is amazing.

The real question is why hasn't Nore done a Back to the Future erase? From the moment she explains what Iris did, we know that Iris probably won't now. Take the lessons Nora's imparting and use them when you actually have time to conceive a child (girl, boy or maybe even twins).

I don't usually write a review but this episode just required me to get the whole "NOT a Parent" issue that's been building off my chest. Which caused one of my lowest scores ... I almost went with a 7 but ...

Pure Stupidity
garycofield23 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was one of the ones earlier in this season that felt like the older episodes until it got deeper in. The villain was fantastic in character, although, there was no arc behind his motive, he just fell flat and served no purpose, not even mentioning how he told Barry what he wanted to do, only to do something completely different, for no reason whatsoever.

It also really bothers me that Iris is basically a superhuman. She's invincible in the hands of these writers and it's just disgusting to watch. It made no sense why Plastic Man couldn't just go rescue Barry on his own, and it ABSOLUTELY made no sense when Iris dove off the roof to save Barry, considering the fact that there was a man who could stretch his limbs at will. Her first thought was to dive off the roof??? Seriously. It's just awful, lazy writing. I used to love this show and now I don't even think about it because of this kind of stupidity.

One moment
ToadofTruth15 November 2018
Warning: Spoilers
A good, or at least solid, episode let down by one moment. That moment was when Iris jumped off the building to save Barry. How she managed to dive off the building perfectly in line with where Barry fell, had no struggle unlocking the cuffs with the key while falling... I know it's a superhero show, but that was a bit too much for me. She was more like Supergirl in that moment.

There were good things about the episode elsewhere. Nora was less annoying, Cisco and Ralph provided some humour. The nod to Spider-Man was amusing and rather fitting considering Stan Lee passed away this week. And there was some decent dialogue, particularly the scene between Cisco and Caitlin in the med bay of STAR Labs.

The villain might have been a little less powerful than some we have seen previously, but intriguing nonetheless.

It would have been a 7/10 from me but for the aforementioned "one moment".

Bland
ThomasDrufke15 November 2018
Here's an episode that I really have little to nothing to say about, because there's nothing overtly wrong or right with this episode. It's only been 24 hours, but I don't necessarily remember a lot from the 42 minutes of average television I watched last night. I'm tired of the Caitlin-Dad material already, and we haven't even gotten to the meat of that arc. Nora acts and is written like an 8 year old, and although it's great she's finally coming around to Iris, I have no doubt it's not over. Oh, and Cisco still has powers? Even though the last episode he was in was titled "The Death of Vibe". Why exactly is his character necessary now? In fact, why are half these characters necessary? Again, the episode was perfectly fine and it was far from the worst hour this show has put out, but I can't help but think I'm wasting my time watching & reviewing this show. If you can even call this paragraph a "review".

Mediocre Episode and a Forgettable Villain
Kolorgasm20 November 2018
What is even up with that creepy Ragdoll? This villain is so forgettable and a total bore compared to the previous ones this season, I wished Cicada got rid of him first. I did like the part where Iris jumped off the building to save Barry, that was intense. I also like seeing Cecile and Nora connect.

The Flash continues to be a great show. But your writers need to fact check your chemicals. Hydrogen is not flammable.

Flash gets beaten by a slow enemy. Again
aopek6 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Flash.

How can you describe a hero like him after four seasons?

The guy gets beaten with a crowbar on head from a slow moving creepy doll face dude. Again. He is the fastest man alive but he spends every episode got his ass kicked.

But don't worry kids.

He is lame yes, but he has the coolest wife ever yay!

She has zero powers, zero acting skills but she can be smartest than the smart members of the team and she knows everything!

She even can jump from roofs to save her lame speedster husband. She saves the day every episode yay!

We are soooo lucky we have amazing Irish in team flash. We are so blessed.

Praise the speed force gods she is here folks.

Because her sorry excuse of a hero husband can't do nothing without her.

What is this!!!!!!
elliotgarewal15 November 2018
Flash Season 1 and 2 got me chills almost every episode. Season 3 had some of those chills but not as good as season 1 and 2. Damn flash is now really bad compared to what it started out to be. The writing and the action is just not as good as it was before. Season 1 and 2 had me at the edge of my seat especially season 1, But the flash has changed and is more about the comedy and the soap opera rather than giving the audience the chills and the goosebumps.

Sound and Nora
scramblewithme14 June 2020
I hate Nora. Since episode 1. She should have never been there and/or she should've gone home day one. Also, the sound effects, particularly for Rag doll, are completely and utterly ridiculous and non realistic. Just stupid.

Ranking/Reviewing every Flash episode: All Doll'd Up
lbramson14 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The writers have officially lost it! Barry is kidnapped by Rag Doll. Seriously? This again?! You got to be kidding me! Almost everything about this episode, aside from the creepy villain, is stupid! However, the worst thing about this episode is the climax! Let me break it down for you. Barry gets thrown off a building while his speedster friends just stand there and do nothing to help him. Then, Iris is the only one with a brain, so she decides to defy the laws of physics and logic, and jump off the building. This just so happened to resolve the drama from the last episode. How stupid can you be?! Sometimes I think this show was written by 4 year olds.

4.1/10-Bad👎
