A solid film
lamainvasionn17 May 2020
This film took a slight surrealist approach. It is inspired by David Lynch movies as shown by an obvious easter egg. Hence, logically it followed an outlandish way of revealing the main character's life through a sequence of seemingly uncorrelated events. As the movie progresses, it starts to make sense. This is clearly a good thing, though my critique is, it doesn't go far in terms of riddling the viewer because at the end, everything is answered leaving no room for 'connecting the dots'. The cinematic direction, subtlety, background set up, use of symbolism and even sound tracks pale in comparison to a movie like Cake. But it is decent for what it is.

A missed chance!

Warning: Spoilers
I went to see this movie with high expectations and i was so disappointed. This movie could had been much better but instead the audience didn't got all the answers and were left unsatisfied. First of all the present and past timings were just confusing and made the movie a lot hard to watch. It had been much better if they had just shown the past of the girl in first half, and the journey on bike in second half. In this way the movie had been bearable to watch. In the end we didn't saw the life of zenith after the journey. Just a speech and boom " the end" they could have shown us the face of her boss and her crush after this achievement. The scenery was great but not shown as it should had been. Overall this movie deserves a solid 6 all because of the acting of sohai ali abro.

So much better than "Cake"
atiyaahsan2 May 2018
With 2 women-centric Pakistani movies coming out back-to-back within the span of a month, it's hard not to compare the 2. Although "Cake" has been hailed as a realistic portrayal of the modern Pakistani woman, it's actually "Motorcycle girl" that most Pakistani youth will relate to. Where Cake" shows women smoking, dancing at parties, egging neighborhood houses and getting in physical altercations with one another (a.k.a cat-fights) and deems it "Women Empowerment", it's actually "Motorcycle Girl" that depicts the true nature of the Pakistani society, and how the average woman has to deal with her parents, her relatives, her co-workers and just society, in general, trying to cut the legs out from under her, all in the name of "Log Kiya Khen Ge?" The story is a simple and straight-forward one. It's about a middle-class girl named Zenith, whose father died when she was a baby and she's seen stuck in a job where she's underappreciated, in order to save enough money to put herself through college. All the while, she is seen reminiscing about her father and his unfulfilled fantasy of riding up to Khunjerab Pass between the Pak-China border. This is the true story of how Zenith Irfan fulfills that unaccomplished dream of her father's despite her daadi, her fiance and, and her boss constantly drilling in to her mind "K Log Kia kahen Ge?" This is the story of true Women Empowerment. I believe that all Pakistanis and patriarchal society afflicted countries should have their daughters watch this film.

More movies like this one should be made.
AVeryLollywoodPerson30 August 2018
Pakistani cinema should focus on making more movies like this one instead of trying to copy bollywood. This movie was an independent movie but, everything from acting to direction to songs was good.

unnecessary hyped portryal of Pakistani society
mohd_ali_128 May 2019
The director is living in the fantsay world while being high on the dose of local dramas. An unrealistic potryal of ral life event that totally ruins the exerience. A documentary would have justified the tale. I belong to that country and it surely doesnt happen the way its portrayed in this so called film. Its a dissappointing reminder to the reality that talent has nothing to do with creativity. Any tom dick and harry belonging to a so called artistic family can pick up a camera and shoot something. DISSAPPOINTING

DISAPPOINTING
asadiqbalkhattak-0824525 April 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I just saw the movie on 4th day of its release. in cinema hall there were only 30 people watching this. i am a critic and i have few observations; 1. sequence of events was totally overlapped and disturbed especially past present and future events. they might have worked hard on it... a simple common sense could do the task. 2. many details which could add interest were missing... reaching the khunjrab was the subject matter of the film which was shown just as she was entering doing a routine task. no thrill no enthusiasm 3. they could add more historic places to the film to show the world what Pakistan is. like Taxila, Islamabad, Murree, Galliyat Salt mines etc 4. what happened to her career after her success? how did her friend welcome her? her boss? family? samina peezada? good luck for your next project.

Believe me; its the vacation you always wanted.
aurangzab200526 February 2019
Well this movie has far more to give then what you expect. Motorcycle Girl is not about a Girl on a bike trip, but a wonderfull piece of entertainment with a bright and shinny message to better yourself, to chase your dreams, to overcome your fears and move towards victory.

Sohai, a common working class girl who lacks the selfconfidence because of nothing on the back, broughtup by a single parent but with sky high dreams. Right from the beginning ,from the very first scene you can actually see the issues and relate them with every struggling youngster. Her simplicity, nervousness, inferiority complex then the confidence, bravery and all of above courage to strike the world is everything the role asked for.

All the supporting cast including Sameena peerzada, Sarmad, Irfan and Adnan himself were fabulous.

Indeed Shah was good but Adnan Sarwar took his direction to next level. Literally hats off to him. The way this movie works like the spiral of DNA, PAST and PRESENT moving together, never touches each other hence they are constantly together with plenty of particles embedded from the NEAR FUTURE. He showed everything in a perfect way; while watching you can actually relate it to your surroundings; Life in Lahore, in corporate companies with capitalistic enviroment. Males like her boss and fiance who takes women her talent and skills as a property, then Males like her brother and just the imagination of her father who provides them the strength, the support to achieve what you dream, to live a life worthy; not just for you but the people around you. Landscapes of Chillas, Babusar, Passu, Gilgit and then The great China Border; Khunjerab was absolutely amazing. The mesmerizing beauty on screen will give you a glimpse of true Pakistan.

As our industry rose from the ashes, it is highly Recommened to every pakistani. Please watch and support.

A Film Redefining Our Cinema In A Brilliant Way
m-829625 January 2019
This film is really piece of craft. While the storyline may seem scattered in the start but this technique is what gives the film its edge. One of the most progressive story lines to have come out of Pakistani cinema. The direction is on spot especially Adnan Sarwar's flashback trick really work out . The performances are brilliant especially by our Motorcycle girl. "Sohai Ali Abro" proves her worth with this role actually her first major role in a fiilm. Special mention to Ali Kazmi, Sarmad Khoosat and Shamim Hilaly. Urr Chalay by Ali Noor ia also a treat. Do Watch it.
