Good Enough
PennyReviews29 July 2018
About time introduces the viewer with a new concept, the ability to see your time of death. The whole drama revolves around the question, what if you meet someone who can extend your life? So, the premisses nice enough, the story interesting, the chemistry between the two leads is killing it and the first episodes were sooooo good, it was only a matter of time beofore this one started to go down. And it did. Unfortunately, the musical parts were tiring, the story started getting boring and the twists were just too predictable to entertain. Those things killed the romance, that was so strong and emotional at first. The final ending was good, but I guess a more dramatic one would have been kind of better.

So much potential -
CrookshanksG21 February 2024
I watched this because of Lee Sung Kyung. And she's the only reason I finished this series and giving it an 8. She's perfect for the role and he voice is amazing, she has so much talent.

The story has so much potential but unfortunately it drags. Too mang cliches. And kinda illogical.

And I personally don't feel much connection with the male lead. I think the age gap if quite noticeable. His expression is usually blank and too hard with his eyebrows. And there are scenes that I can feel him holding back or being too controlled - example during confrontations with LSK in front of her house where he learned why Mika broke up with him.. It was a big scene but he's too controlled that I didn't feel much of an impact on such a big scene. He's not that attractive for as well to have 2 beautiful ladies pine for him, especially Beth - she deserves so much more.

I love Mika's relationship with her best friend who can also act very well and cute. Also with that granny friend from her part time. Their relationship is wholesome, i love it.

Overall though, i have to say that while watching, it boils down to the director and the writers. The transition between scenes are not really good. The actors tried their best with what is given. But there are just too much cliche, repetitive scenes, like going back and forth with the investor or not, power control between the muscical director and male lead.. it was repetitive, and it's not even that interesting. The ending is also very convenient and the whole series about time simply conveniently disappeared without logic and sense after all the time of Doha transferred to Mika in snap - also illogical and does not make sense. Maybe Love really fixes everything. Lol.

At the end, I love LSK, and Mika... but I would rather have a sad but logical ending with her really dying when her time runs out while making peace with it.

love clock that keeps ticking
pagal-tigerniskson21 July 2020
This is a extremely heartfelt poignant love story. Made me cry me eyes out in most of the episodes. Really saddening and deep lesson learnt through personal loss of the close ones. I would absolutely rate this 10. I can't understand the most viewers about it being boring and dragging. For me i was able to closely relate to the love they shared and best thing the drama mostly revolved around the Main Leads struggle without any distracting side stories. Even the FL brother's love story was very cute and adorable. The FL however looks way too thin for her appearance and height made me worry looking at her lean bony hands than appreciate her beauty. ML is not that attractive , i find he was better looking in Angel Eyes and look old here. I couldn't accept the FL aching with love during the separation which was some reason did not seem believable for me. May the ML has not done much to earn the feeling she showed during that time i guess. overall this is splendid drama which made me emotionally cry and drains my eyes out for the most part which is quite surprising as if it was some known melodrama considering how unpopular this drama and its ratings are. I am sure there are lot more people could relate to the drama without criticizing too much. I would definitely watch it again in the years to come.

Didn't hold my attention
droche-4996631 July 2018
While I normally love K-dramas, this one was a rare one in that I simply got bored about half way into the series and couldn't finish it. It's a shame because I really liked the main lead actors in their other works and even the story was intriguing in the beginning. It just started lagging after the basic premise was introduced and the leads fell in love.

Classic Romance K-Drama with Musical Aspects
nishera20 February 2021
As with any film, whether you will like this show depends on what you are looking for. Personally, I would rate this show 7.5 stars (rounded up to 8). It started relatively strong and had some moving moments, but IMO, the last 4-6 episodes dragged.

The Good/Fresh
  • Overall the show was technically sound with a great cast and solid acting. The plot concept wasn't particularly unique, but the execution was interesting enough.
  • There aren't many KDramas about musicals out there, and the featured songs/singers were pretty decent (the stage acting could have been a bit more polished though). If you enjoy musicals, this might be your cup of tea.
  • The script was generally well written with deep emotion and touching observations about life.

The Bad/Cliche
  • The first half of the show had good pacing and smooth story progression. However, as many K-Dramas do, things began to bog down at the "angst and suffering" stage. I understand that these emotions need adequate screen time to be fully conveyed, but IMO this film could have still gotten the job done with 25-50% less (though maybe that's just a cultural thing, since Asian theater is notorious for its focus on tragedy). In any case, the last 4-6 episodes were rather slow and had too much contrived struggle for my taste. I kept skipping ahead to hurry the story along.
  • The cliche vicious female love rival makes an appearance here, which could be a turn off for some viewers. Although I must add that if you are willing to sit through the scenes, ISM unswervingly plays her role to the absolute 9's. You will love to hate her.
  • The ending, though happy, was rather chaotic, and IMO the various scenes jumped around a bit too much, rather than blending into a harmonious finish. But hey, a happy ending is a happy ending, right?

ROMANCE RATING: * * * 8.5/10. LSK & LSY had decent chemistry together, and though none of their 3+ kiss scenes were especially spicy, they still felt invested and passionate. However, some viewers could be put off by their obvious age gap

The worst aspects of K drama
phd_travel20 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The idea of knowing the life span is interesting but it isn't well used. Then the story just gets stuck in a rut. The boring unrequited obsession of the secondary female lead is so cliched and familiar. Then her not letting hime know about taking his time is just frustrating. The leads have a visible age gap. So there is little chemistry. They have both been better in other roles. Even the musical production isn't fun or involving. The secondary romance involving the friend and brother is dull and seeks tacked on. Just skip this one.

A Mixed Bag - (mild spoilers)
fake_moviestar6 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I was initially gonna give this a 6, but the ending was disappointing, so docking another star and giving it a 5. This drama really was a mixed bag - some really great parts, along with some mediocre, and also some pretty bad.

Lets start with the good: the premise is great and actually created some incredibly romantic moments. There were also some amazingly poignant scenes when dealing with death and people's clocks "running out." These scenes were accompanied by an amazing soundtrack. Lee Song-Kyoung was fantastic in this and was really the glue that kept everything together. She is a great actress, she is gorgeous, can sing like an angel, and she plays the piano like a pro. Im Se-Mi was also fantastic as the villain, a great actress who was beautiful and perfectly intolerable and awful, yet you can't help but understand where she is coming from.

The mediocre: the man and main love interest, played by Lee Sang-Yoon was a rather boring character. He was mean and moody sometimes for no discernible reason, and his anxiety disorder was inaccurate and used as a convenient plot device when it suited the writing.

The bad: nearly ALL of the side characters were awful and annoying. I hated the brother/friend subplot, and all of the family characters were terrible and two-dimensional (with perhaps the exception of Do Ha's older brother). Mi Ka's mother is the worst, and Do Ha's dad was almost as bad. The ending was bad, confusing and suddenly convenient with no explanation or reasoning. The musical plot line was boring and felt forced. I personally felt like Mi Ka and Do Ha had very little chemistry (Do Ha and Soo Bong had more chemistry IMO).

Overall this was okay, I think this would have done a lot better as a movie.

Dragged
justgloamingel7 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Acting: average Storyline: could be better Dialogues: some dialogues make me cringe Female lead:What's with that innocent look always Ok she is dying, she wants to live , so she used Male lead: then they fell in love, it bit sounds selfish first, but her life is at stake i can understand that, her acting is'nt all that good.

Male lead: average acting, there was no emotions in his dialogues, he is kind hearted, green flag for sure.

I liked the concept, dragged too much just for the sake of to make it 16ep/1hr, just being k.drama ofcourse.

I liked the concept only, nothing else.
