Incredible Awful!
CineMasters6 May 2021
If you are like me that always watch anything that has wolves and vamps, this movie should be the exception. Incredible boring, the story is all over the place, bad acting, no special effects. This is the lowest rating I ever gave a movie. Not worth the time.

Yawn
tmccull5228 April 2021
This movie was billed as a "reimagining of the story of Red Riding Hood". Well, somebody please reimagine it again because this version was utterly predictable and boring as all get out. Visually, it's passable, but as for the story and pace of the movie, it's about as compelling as passing a popcorn fart, but not quite as enjoyable. It's an artsy-fartsy fairy tale more than it is a horror movie.

Dreams with wolves
nogodnomasters29 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Dulcina (Michele Martin) is institutionalized. She is let out to take care of her grandmother's house and cut winter roses. She has dreams, sleep walks, and remembers when her dad killed her mom. She slips in and out of reality making it tough for the audience. The film doesn't have much of a linear plot. Very boring. Like an early Rene Perez film without action or nudity.

Guide: No swearing. Implied sex. Near nudity.

No horror, and no reason to watch.
jackmeat2 September 2021
My quick rating - 2,4/10. The very edge of a #turkey. Almost made it out of the lovely category of do NOT waste your time. But unless you are having a hard time sleeping, I cannot recommend this movie to anyone for any other reason but curing insomnia. Nothing happens for the vast majority of the flick. Just a story of a woman (Michele Martin) who is released from a sanitarium after a suicide attempt to go take care of her grandmother's bookstore for the winter. Let me say that again, she just attempted suicide and now is let out to go isolate at some house for an entire winter. Well, Michele Martin also wrote, directed and I would guess also added the really distracting looking fake snow effect during post-production. So putting that unbelievable part aside, she slowly descends into madness in her own mind. Basically just boring flashbacks, my description sounds far more entertaining than it is. Good thing people start appearing although they do make it unclear if they are there or not at times. If the psychological nightmare she may have been going through was in any way involving enough to make you care, any viewer may have wondered what was real and what wasn't. Since it is all so poorly constructed, no one will care. All of a sudden, everyone seems related and is a werewolf. No real explanation at all to any of this just like the fight in the forest that has some of the cheesiest CGI ever. That scene was just tucked in there for.....I don't know. Just a mess of a film that really never had a point. I would hate to speculate what the point actually was since I believe it was depressing and hits home with someone involved. So I'll stick with the movie itself being an utter waste.

So bad!!!
sageelizabethocampo1 January 2024
That movie was the worst movie I've seen in years. It had bad acting I didn't care for the characters. You would think it would have good effects but no it had bad effects. Someone could not pay me to watch howl again. That movie was so bad that I couldn't watch a wolf movie for 7 months! I couldn't tell what was going on!!!!

Howl made my brain hurt. I literally had a headache after howl. My dog left during the movie so I think she didn't like it to. Please do not watch this movie. You will probably regret it. I believe dearest reader you are so smart, so don't watch this movie, if you have dignity and I believe you have dignity.

All in all Howl is a horrible, horrible movie. Click the thumbs up if you like this review 😉.

Have a great day!

Red Riding Hood Grows Up
Howl is Michele Martin's first feature as director/writer/star and it plays like an entertainingly heated fever dream. While filmed on a modest indie budget, it's impressive how well Martin has captured the lurid, hallucinatory vibe of the Hammer Horror films of the 1950's-1970's, and mashed that up with classic fairy tale elements (especially Red Riding Hood and Beauty and the Beast) along with a dash of modern sexual awakening (complete with a scary zealot mother) a la Stephen King's Carrie. Martin, Scott Hamm (as a hunky, possibly lupine neighbor), and the rest of the cast are clearly having fun keeping us guessing as to what's real and what's in our heroine's head. And the color red is so playfully front and center it should get co-star billing in this twisted little fable. If you're looking for a contemporary horror flick with a touch of romance and psychosexual awakening, wrapped in a lovingly indie vintage vibe, you'll want to sink your canines into this ambitious first film.

HOWL IS A GOOD CRAZY RIDE!
themshow-6539621 May 2021
This is a well directed movie that keeps you watching to out all the pieces of the storyline together. It's not a predictable movie which keeps you watching and that's how a good movie is suppose to be. The lead Actress (Michele Martin) in the movie is an emotional mess who is funny, sexy, sad, happy, mysterious that makes the character easy to fall in love with. All of the supporting cast is great and gels with the lead actress to make HOWL a well rounded movie.

A complete psychological thriller masterpiece!
catiedalton22 May 2021
This is one of the best examples of well done psychological thrillers that I've seen in a long time Michelle Martin does a wonderful job demonstrating the intricacies of a dark mind. I was deeply impressed with the overall writing and storytelling demonstrated within this movie. Overall a wonderful experience.

An epic thriller!!
missevab244 November 2021
Love this twisted tale of a woman living out her fears and fighting through them. A film that has you guessing, rooting for her the heroin, and a emotional roller coaster of emotions!! Beautifully crafted and the filmography is artistically done! The acting is epic and Michele Martin has her audience at the edge of their seats! Love love this film! A must watch!

Where the Wolf Lives
dcassidy-9350722 May 2021
We are all our own haunted houses but few come to grips with the traumas that create the nightmares. If you're looking for a forgettable 2 hours of "typical" this isn't your kind of film. But if you're looking for an indie that keeps after you, insisting that we face up to what's wounded us before we would others or ourselves, then this ones for you. It's not the wolves around us that need naming & taming but those within.

First time director, amazing accomplishment, very creative and artistic plot twist in a dreamlike representation of the Red Riding Hood classic character!
