What's Jamie's backstory?
silverton-3795927 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Jamie seems to be the family punching bag for no real reason. He's loyal to a fault, but is hated by his sister, and his father wants him to run for office while still being on call as the family's lawyer, then his father beats him up and throws him out of the family for being unavailable for a few hours.

If his backstory is ever told, maybe it will make clear that he must have done something unforgivable in the past, which should have gotten him disowned long ago, but he's still there to be disowned over nothing much. That seems weird to me.

I can't stream this series and have to wait for dvd releases, so I guess I'll find out eventually.

Part 1

Warning: Spoilers
There were some funny fight scenes here, but they set things up for a good finale here.

The show has had an uneven year and has rarely given us an appropriate amount of "action" each week. This episode had that and hopefully the finale delivers again.

Rip wheeler drew me in rip wheeler helped me love the show , he's the Yellowstone muscle. The characters are amazing except Beth but that's her character.

Like the show; hate Monica
gregorycwolff20 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
As usual, the show has some pretty good story development. Jamie's campaign for state attorney general continues and a sexual relationship develops with his campaign manager. Some of his staff are working against him.

Things continue to fall apart between Kayce and scrawny complaining Monica. Monica continues to whine and complain and do everything possible to make Kayce's life unbearable and force the family to make stupid decisions.

We do see some development in Rip's character. He may be a mean and tough old son of a biscuit. He finds himself in a very difficult set of circumstances and handles himself like a true cowboy.

John continues to hide his obvious health issues. Dan and Rainwater scheme together in order to systematically destroy John Dutton.

The shark has been jumped
travis-a-greene5 July 2021
I really liked this show, I still do mostly but over the last two episodes it really jumps the shark. Instead of focusing on the certain events following their consequences to their natural conclusion it just starts piling extreme event on extreme event to the point of ridiculousness. I'm going to keep watching but hopefully this isn't a sign of more to come.

Love this series but...

Warning: Spoilers
Love the series, great story and most of the actors except Monica. Not a very good actress. Not convincing. In fact, this whole storyline with Monica leaving Kaycee is lame.

Good lord what a pile of stupid
geek_party12 January 2022
One preposterous whirlwind of bad luck and inanity after another. Every episode gets further from any kind of sensible reality. Maybe if the first episode had begun with Dutton meeting three witches in the woods and laying a curse on him this writing would deserve some suspension of disbelief.

The Unravelling: Part 1
Prismark1025 September 2023
Things are certainly unravelling for John Dutton. Rip Wheeler faces a certain investigation for killing a bear. The Sheriff disbelieving that two tourists who died were attacked by the bear.

Thomas Rainwater and Dan Jenkins are circling with their land project. It could mean John facing higher land taxes.

Meanwhile Jamie Dutton is engrossed in his political campaign and not returning his father's phone call.

The episode opened with flashbacks with Rip as a kid who had killed his father in a domestic dispute that left his family dead. John took Rip in and it explains why he is always loyal to John.

The penultimate episode has a lot of things going on, some of the violence is ridiculous. From Kayce beating up a drifter to John hitting his son Jamie. Hard edged soap suds.

Too violent
Elizabethchivers21 August 2018
First of all, I love this show. I would give almost every other episode a 10. I love the cast, the acting, the cinematography. But, this episode was just too violent. Please don't go the way of other shows like Westworld or Game of Thrones that make it all about the gratuitous violence. I am most likely the minority, but the added gore ruins the show for me rather than making it better. I just don't think this show needs all of the blood to capture viewers. It has so much going for it without it. Other than this episode, I love this show!
