Getting grim
peterfmodel19 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This episode starts with one of the best examples of Violet helping someone, but ends on a grim note when she discovered the Major is gone. A few interesting points, violet is some type of super soldier, she displays an almost super human ability to jump. The next point is violet is now coming to terms with all the people she killed, we know she killed a number of sailors and an unknown number of enemy soldiers. Her attempt to understand love is causing her to display emotions, including remorse. Finally she discovers what happens, or what we think, happened to the major. There is a bit of a plot jump here which did leave me puzzled, but the story is so engrossing its only a minor irritation.

When Loved Ones Pass

Warning: Spoilers
The second half got me in tears. The man's flashbacks as he watched Violet fly over the lake was so sad. The man is a theatre director writing a script. His flashbacks are of his newborn daughter, her in bed, her dying...

Violet gets off and sees Tiffany again who mentions the major and resting in peace. Violet storms into her boss's office and demands to know the truth. The boss admits he couldn't bear to tell her but he is most likely dead, missing in action specifically.

What a tearjerker
glumski25 May 2022
While this is by no means the first episode of the series that hits close to the heart, Episode 7 of Violet Evergarden certainly is the most emotional so far. Both the episodic side story and the advancement of the overarching plot heavily touch upon the topic of losing a loved one, and in the series' typical manner does so wonderfully.

There are, again, numerous gorgeous images throughout the episode, and the soundtrack and direction are ever excellent.

Who is cutting the onions?

A particular two minute scene in this episode is one of the most beautiful things ever. Even if the scene didn't had the awesome music and superb animations it would have still made me cry.
