Missed opportunity

Warning: Spoilers
Like most people, I find the character of Charlotte unbearable. So when at the end of the episode she asked for emancipation, I naturally assumed it was a way for the writers to get rid of her once and for all. This didn't happen. But, there is a silver lining. Having just read all about the guy who invented the fast forward button, I decided to give it a try. It's simple. Let me explain. When you see Charolette's smug face on the screen, or hear her whiny voice, you simply press the button marked FF on your remote control until she disappears. It works wonders for the show. And don't worry about missing anything interesting. Nothing she has ever said has any real bearing on,,,,well, anything. If you get a chance to read up on the guy who invented the FF button, you will be amazed that it all came to him in a dream. A dream about Charolette. Suddenly realizing he had these Prophetic powers, he immediately set out to save mankind by inventing said FF button, so the rest of the world could be safe from her evil influence on humanity. 'Trust me' he once said, 'there is nothing I value greater then the thought of saving mankind, and I think I've done that'.

Well the Snells car is peppered with a fusilade of bullets ,similar to the ending of Bonnie and Clyde(1967). Except a slightly different ending.... ONE clean shoulder wound !!! Where did all the other bullets go ???

Warning: Spoilers
If the Snells survive that attack at the end of the episode it is just too much. Guns shooting at a car from both directions and they make it out? We'll see.

Another solid, but dragging episode. If Ozark simply cut down to 40-45 minutes per episode it would be so much better.

Warning: Spoilers
Helen & Marty are doing what they do; Helen puts more responsibility on Marty for the Snells' behaviour after Darlene spikes a shipment with fentyanyl.

Marty, frustrated: "I'm an accountant! I move money around." Helen, deadpan: "I'm a lawyer. I move words around."

Another great episode.

Warning: Spoilers
Season 2, episode 8, "The Big Sleep," opens with a tired shtick, but helps to carry us toward its shocking conclusion. A long string of titles leads us through a timeline that goes back four days when Darlene Snell taints a batch of heroin that ultimately leads to Rachel's overdose at the Blue Cat. In current time, tensions plague the Byrde home. Marty is still tormented by guilt. Charlotte wants to see Wyatt, but her parents are worried. Worst of all, Beecher's report to the commission was bad and now Wilkes doesn't want involvement with the Byrdes. In the midst of it all, Marty gets the call that Rachel OD'd. Wendy goes to see Wilkes. She tries to convince him to step in with the commission, but he refuses.

Marty goes to the hospital. He lets Rachel know he heard that the dope was spiked. Meanwhile, Cade and Ruth watch Marty's funeral home. Ruth approaches the funeral director, Harry, feigning interest in his business as a way to case the joint. He shows her around. Elsewhere, the Feds bust a Navarro warehouse. They find fentanyl mixed with the heroin. Agent Petty doesn't think it's the work of the cartel, despite the Ozark origin. He's tasked with figuring things out. At the Byrde home, Wendy is starting to get suspicious about Marty and Rachel. They're interrupted by the sheriff, who has questions about Mason's disappearance. In another place, Helen has bailed out a drug dealer arrested in the raid. It's not a kind move though; she tortures him to learn who tampered with their product. Ultimately, she kills him. At the funeral parlor, Cade and Ruth suit up for their heist. However, they come up empty when they search the place. Cade accuses Ruth of being loyal to Marty and he hits her (!!!). She's definitely going to reach a breaking point soon.

Marty takes the money out of its real hiding spot: Buddy's mausoleum. After, he swings by Rachel's place to tell her that Petty is done with her. He sets her up with a clinic and puts an advance on the Blue Cat. Meanwhile, the Snells continue to bicker at a church dinner. On their way home, their car is stopped by waiting men. They get brutally shot down. I've got to say, this isn't how I pictured them going out, but it's certainly satisfying to know Darlene will finally stop talking so freakin' much. In the final scene, Charlotte surprises everyone by asking to be emancipated. She can't take the lies anymore. "The Big Sleep" certainly had its missteps, but it still made for highly binge-able television. With the Snells presumably out for the count and trouble brewing more intensely than ever at the Byrde home, what will happen next?

Amazing episode!

Wow.. what an amazing episode. Everything that happened was great. I loved every scene like usual on the series, but some of the previous episodes I wasn't enjoying so much. I think it's easily one of the best episodes of the show and it's my favorite from this season so far.

Ozark losing it's way here...kind of

Warning: Spoilers
The surprise reveal at the end of this episode might have earned itself couple of extra stars from but "The Big Sleep" has got me worried about how the remaining two episodes are going to pan out as I can feel the series running out of steam already, just when it should be doing the exact opposite.

Hope the show gets better now on.

Are we ever going to find out the connection the Snells and the sheriff of The Ozarks have? If I watch this entire series and it's never revealed I swear........

It's like watching this entire series and trying to figure out why the character Charlotte is even written into the show. I'm glad to read other reviews and find out I'm not alone in knowing how annoying she has been written in the script. The person that writes for her should win an award. I feel like they have said she's 15 for 2 years although she acts the age of a 10-year-old.

Marty says he had know clue that Rachel was an addict.....WTF?! Dude, she sleeps with random dudes in filthy bathrooms. Heck, she sleeps with random dudes there at the bar on the weekends and she ALWAYS looks as if she is high, drunk, intoxicated.....come on.

I keep watching because I want to see Ruth win, Helen be revealed as the actual cartel boss, Agent Petty get killed, and Charlotte be placed on a plane somewhere and written off.

Insulting to the viewer

How stupid do the writers think their viewers must be!

This series started out strong, but now it's losing momentum. It seems the writers are throwing anything and everything against the wall to see what sticks, or what viewers will buy. I can suspend disbelief up to a point.

Common mistake made by TV writers is to drag it out leaving a watered down version. Believability matters.

Also, the Charlotte character and the Darlene character both need to leave.

They would never behave -as they have been written.

I feel like a broken record, and so does this show

Warning: Spoilers
Through 18 episodes of Ozark, it's the same story...great plot, terrible characters down the line. Someone on IMDB wrote a hilarious article ripping Charlotte's character, and she's not even in the top 5 worst-acting people in the show. #1 on this list would be Laura Linney. But I digress...

This episode opens with a pointless "back in time" set which leads up to Rachel who ODs on spiked heroin. It turns out that the whacked-out wife of Jacob Snell, Darlene, spiked the heroin to screw with the cartel. Of course, Darlene rants on about being disrespected by the cartel to justify her insane decision. Later on in bed, Jacob admits to Darlene that he's afraid of...her!!! As if he hasn't known his whole life that this baked-out redneck psycho-woman isn't a complete lunatic. I guess he just now is figuring this out. Moving on...

Charlotte steals a book for her friend Wyatt, then ruins the scene by talking about "her" problems, ignoring Wyatt's own anger at her for being privileged. While not as annoying as Wendy, Charlotte is working her way up the list.

Marty's character is finally coming together well. You can see his anger at Petty when he blackmails him with the video of his mother doing drugs and his empathy when he helps Rachel get free from the cartel and the FBI. The ending kiss with Rachel for helping her out was intense.

The story ends with the Snells getting gunned down coming from a church dinner, presumably by the cartel. Whodathunkit??? Then comes the show's end-scene shocker...Charlotte wants to emancipate from the family.

Good riddance, I hope.
