Death Wish vibes, including an actor that clsoely resembles Charles Bronson
tony-146-69562626 December 2018
The score of 4.6 overall is dead on. I had already decided to give it a 5 before seeing the other scores.

There is a decent amount of killing. Not much of a plot or plot development. Not any real tension in the movie to keep you riveted to the screen. The movie just moseys along from scene to scene with very little development of anything.

Like Death Wish there is a vigilante that kills criminals and low life types. But he has no problem robbing their belongings once he does. And is not worried about collateral damage to those people being abused or threatened as he takes out the bad guys.

A movie like this is only as good as the villain. This is why Avengers hit a home run with Thanos and DC failed miserable with Steppenwolf in Justice League. The main villain in this movie is a joke. Our man is never in any real danger. This makes the ending kind of flat and boring.

I would not recommend this movie unless you have nothing else to watch or do. A walk in the park would be a better time investment.

Oh, and there is some rule in this movie that all female actresses in the movie must bare their chest at least once for no good reason. I kid you not.

Death Kiss $5.00 DVD bin watch and give to a friend
bjackson-739-45055210 January 2019
This movie has a few good points and a few flaws as well. It has a fairly decent story line and even better camera work. Scenes with a hand held camera were far better than big budget shaky cam movies. Dialogue had its ups and downs. The acting for the most part was only B rated and needed a lot of work except for Dan Forthright played by Daniel Baldwin. He did a good job delivering his lines, especially the radio dialogue. Robert Bronzi (Robert Kovacs) who plays the stranger looks a little like Bronson and I hope his acting improves with time and experience. The cleavage and bare breast scenes were done modestly and added a little spice to the movie. I like a little gore in a movie, but the exploding blood splatter in this movie were comically obvious. Fans of the Charles Bronson Death Wish movies might get a kick from this one. For a low budget Inde film it's not too bad, 5 of 10.

As close as we'll get to Death Wish 6, I guess
BandSAboutMovies10 November 2018
Warning: Spoilers
A vigilante with a mysterious past. A city under assault by crime. A young mother and her child that need saving. Sounds like a Charles Bronson movie. And thanks to actor Robert Bronzi, who looks pretty much exactly like the Bronson we know, love and miss, it looks like we get the chance to enjoy one more chance to enjoy one of his films. At least that's the idea.

Bronzi previously appeared in From Hell to the Wild West, which was also directed by the same director as this movie, Rene Perez. Here, he plays The Stranger, a man who may or may not be Paul Kersey, who wanders the United States looking for wrongs to right. One of those wrongs happened when Ana's (Eva Hamilton, Ruin Me) daughter was hit by a bullet and handicapped. Since then, he's left her money to help out of a sense of obligation.

This could be a Death Wish film with all the violence, gunplay, rape and mayhem, thanks to Richard Tyson as Tyrell. One look at Tyson's IMDB page reminds you he was in Kindergarten Cop, but also shows you that he's a working actor with double digit roles currently in production.

The part that doesn't feel like a Death Wish movie is that The Stranger isn't constantly reminded by an unfeeling God just how much He hates His creation, killing everyone that Paul Kersey loves. Well that and it's missing any real motivation or actual gravitas behind why The Stranger does what he does. It's like they wanted to fast forward to the crazy scenes of Death Wish 3 without the hard work and pain that it took for the character to get there. Basically, it's a video game with no gun scenes, just gunplay.

Director/writer Perez also plays all of the film's music as The Darkest Machines and the 80's style synth works pretty well. The special effects feature plenty of exit wounds that spray geysers of blood like a Japanese samurai film, but as they're often CGI, then feel a little less organic than they should.

Daniel Baldwin also shows up as a right wing DJ that we hear throughout the movie. It seems like he and The Stranger have some kind of relationship where they help one another to get their missions accomplished.

Plenty of reviews have stated that there's really no story here and that it's mostly a series of action pieces. Basically, I hope that no one is coming into this movie expecting the emotional weight of Death Wish. That said, I may have an opinion on this film that's not the highest, but Bronson did say: "We don't make movies for the critics, since they don't pay to see them anyhow."

It's a love letter to retro action films
DeadMansTrousers1 December 2018
After reading some of the reviews I'm not sure what people expected from this movie! It's a fun retro-throwback action film with lots of gore, synth music, and sexy ladies. I'm not sure what else you could want from a movie in this genre but in my opinion this movie delivers on what it advertises.

This is a god-awful movie.

I don't know what movie some of the other reviewers were watching but the late Mr. Bronson would be convulsing in his grave at this abomination.

From Death Wish to Death Kiss but then in a bad way.
deloudelouvain20 January 2019
Who's Robert Pronzi? I only have two plausible explanations. Or Charles Bronson went to Hungary and had a secret affair over there that resulted in an unwanted child, or a scientist found the way to clone a human and as a huge fan of Charles Bronson he decided to clone his hero. I can't see another explanation for Charles Bronsons' twin. That said, the director Rene Perez saw the same thing and decided to remake the Charles Bronsons' classics Death Wish. Those movies were the revenge movies you had to watch when I was young. They probably didn't age that well but I can't tell you that as I never watched them again. From Death Wish to Death Kiss, Rene Perez doesn't have a big imagination, nor does have he the necessary talent and budget to make a decent movie as Death Kiss is just an abomination compared to Death Wish. The acting from most of the cast is just awful. Only Eva Hamilton was decent with her acting. But the worst parts of this movie are the action scenes, they are amazingly bad, and unfortunately there are a lot of action scenes, what doesn't help in raising the quality of this movie. I'm not sure what Charles Bronson would think if he could have watched this movie, but I'm sure it wouldn't be possitive.

Watching "Bronson" Is Worse Than Watching An Elvis Impersonator
AssistantVillageIdiot19 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I doubt the producers intended to make a comedy, but I laughed very hard at this movie each time I saw or heard the "Bronson" imposter. He makes the Elvis impersonators look dignified. But its not just Bronzi's fault. The so-called writers and producers are also pretending--to be writers and producers.

This is a very strange movie. The viewer is dragged along as a seemingly omniscient "Bronson" keeps appearing at active crime scenes that he should have no way of knowing about. No one ever bothers to explain how he knew. Also, "Bronson" is the sugardaddy of a woman who doesn't know him, giving her bundles and bundles of hundred dollar bills throughout the movie. No one ever bothers to explain how a man with no obvious source for any money could afford to do this, either. That's basically the entire movie.

Just minutes before the movie ends, when the viewer realizes nobody bothered to write any plot, the viewer is informed that "Bronson" felt guilty about having inadvertently crippled a young girl years prior in a shoot-out gone wrong, and has been pursuing a criminal whom he failed to kill ever since. The movie then abruptly ends with "Bronson" leaving a photo of the crippled girl to torment that criminal, whom he left to die as vengeance. There is a major logical hole with this ending of leaving behind the photo; it implicates the crippled daughter's mother in the murder. To be clear, the writers, producers, and "Bronson" never intended to implicate the mother, but I mention it so you understand just how irrational this movie is.

If you have just over an hour of time to kill, I highly recommend this short movie, as long as you understand you are watching it only to discover how bad a movie can be.

One of the most ludicrous "movies" imaginable
jake_fantom17 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
OK, so we have a Charles Bronson "lookalike" who actually looks to be in his late seventies or early eighties, kinda lumpy and pasty, wearing a greasy toupee that seems to have been painted black with a large can of Benjamin Moore enamel paint. That's the big draw here - on top of a script that makes Plan 9 from Outer Space sound like Shakespeare, an action budget right up there with the old Dolemite movies, and a cast of heavies and hotties that seems to have been hauled straight out of the nearest dive bar. I suggest you save your money on this one, folks. I've had better times bashing my head against a wall. And oh, wait a minute - I forgot about the usual production hambones who write their one IMDB review giving stinkers like this a 10 star rating plus all the accolades they know how to spell - for you guys, Judge Judy and I have 3 words: GET A JOB.

Bronson would probably smile
phoenixinvictus17 October 2018
I've never seen this actor before this movie and I will admit that I was drawn to it by its poster. I thought that I was seeing Charles Bronson. but I saw the date 2018 and frowned. I love Charles Bronson especially the 70's and 80's movies so I assumed that this was a documentary. Robert Kovacs resemblance with the late actor is uncanny and pays a great homage to the Bronson legacy of vigilante/dark justice movies. Not only does he look like him he acts like him as well. I enjoyed it and made me remember the Bronson movies.

Death Kiss, a great throwback/hommage to Bronson and Death Wish
bbraddock-498963 October 2018
Death Kiss stars the Charles Bronson lookalike, Robert Kovacs, a.k.a. Bronzi, and you can see why he's been given the nickname. He not only has the look, but the mannerisms of Bronson, which make the film work. I found myself smiling while watching Kovacs roam the mean streets, with the 80's style score accompanying him. He's out looking for trouble, and he certainly finds plenty of it...thugs, drug dealers and pedophiles, and he doesn't mind taking out the trash. Lots of blood to go round and plenty of action that will please a fan of the 80's stlye Bronson films like Death Wish and The Evil that Men do. There are some minor distractions in the film that I'm not even going to list, because based on budget and how much the director contributed to this film, as far as directing and providing the score, I think those involved did a solid job of bringing back something to life that will certainly please. Bronzi, Baldwin, Tyson and the small part by Stormi Maya were standouts to me. Dive in to this film expecting lots of blood, mayhem and of course...fun.

This is justice...
paul_haakonsen5 January 2019
I stumbled upon "Death Kiss" and decided to watch it solely for the reason of the movie's cover/poster. I did watch all the old Charles Bronson "Death Wish" movies and enjoyed those - unlike the remake with Bruce Willis.

I like how this movie keeps you in the dark, because you have no idea if this is supposed to be Paul Kerns or not, the character portrayed by Charles Bronson. But the similarities are there in abundance, not only by physical similarity between Charles Bronson and Robert Bronzi.

While the storyline is simplistic in "Death Kiss", it is very true to the storylines in the "Death Wish" movies, as they were also mostly unstructured like this movie, whereas not a whole lot is happening narratively throughout the course of the movie, but it all seems mostly like fragments of action put together for a greater picture.

I was adequately entertained by "Death Kiss" and it was a nice surprise actually. If you enjoyed the old Charles Bronson "Death Wish" movies, then you should definitely take the time to watch "Death Kiss" as well.

The movie has an interesting cast. First and foremost, there is Robert Bronzi who not only has an uncanny resemblance to Charles Bronson, but also has a lot of his mannerisms and gestures nailed down in place. It was much like actually watching Charles Bronson on the screen. Daniel Baldwin was actually also doing a good job in the movie, despite having a minor role only. And it was actually fun to see Richard Tyson on the screen again in a villanous role.

All in all, "Death Kiss" is entertaining for what it is. Just don't expect a major drama here with plot hooks, surprises and twists, because that is not in here. This is action, this is homage, this is a trip down memory lane for the most of us.

Total Garbage
mboyd19867 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Garbage like this ought to be banned. It is a complete waste of time with pathetic acting and gratiutous violence.

Clearly the "reviewer" called gregorpatterson is a paid promoter of the film. No one with any sense of history of films or cinema could call this anything but garbage.

To say "Robert Kovacs" is the spitting image of Charles Broson" is just laughable.

This is not a "MUST" for fans of quality vigilate films. This is a "throw it in the bin" film.

Kiss of Death
kosmasp4 June 2021
Yes I know this is meant as a stab at Death Wish ... there's a reason that our main actor looks like Charles Bronson too. His dubbed voice also might remind people of him. And when I say dubbed, I mean in the english and therefor original version of the film.

And while he has the optics of the late great Bronson ... I highly doubt anyone will compare those two in anything else than looks. It almost saddens me to say that I while I really tried to like the low budget nature of this (and there are things to love or hate depending on your own taste, like the CGI blood, the nudity, the violence in general), there is so much wrong with this that I can't really rate this higher.

Yes I am aware that many "classic" movies did not have much more of a story than this has. And maybe for some this will be more than enough ... even the way too long scenes will not bother some ... but if you are honest to yourself ... even with under 90 minutes running time this has more flat moments than .. well you fill in the blank and make it PC or non PC ...

Lukewarm Pastiche of Bronson's "Death Wish" Movies
zardoz-135 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Writer, lenser, and director Rene Perez's "Death Kiss" amounts to predictable pulp. The blood-splattered gunplay evokes fond memories of grindhouse cinema, while the uncanny resemblance between Hungarian actor Robert Kovacs and the late Charles Bronson adds considerable novelty value. As an old-school Bronson fan, I will concede that I stared in jaw-dropping stupefaction when I saw Kovacs imitating Bronson. Although he looks physically like Bronson, Perez catches Kovacs from several bad angles throughout that diminishes the illusion. "Death Kiss" reminded me those reincarnation movies where a dearly beloved person is brought back to life, but the individual's humanity is conspicuously missing. The illusion is shattered further when Kovacs opens his mouth to deliver the pabulum that passes for dialogue. Nevertheless, I'm sure that many spectators will experience the same reaction that I had. Altogether, this formulaic pastiche of Michael Winner's "Death Wish" franchise boasts its share of moments and never descends into parody. Despite his minimal talent and micro-budget, Perez achieves his aim of duplicating the essence of a Cannon film from the 1980s.

Our anonymous but natty vigilante hero slaughters violent subhuman specimens of society without a qualm. Back or front, he doesn't concern himself with where he plugs them with his revolver. Earlier, during an off-screen shootout between our hero and the ruthless villain, Tyrell (Richard Tyson of "Black Hawk Down"), one of their bullets struck a small child and crippled her for life. K (Robert Kovacs of "From Hell to the Wild West") struggles to atone for this tragic accident by sticking envelopes jammed with cash into the mailbox of the single mom, Ana (Eva Hamilton of "Touchback"), so her daughter and she can live a better life. Indeed, as Tanya, the crippled daughter, Stormi Maya is adorable as well as believable in her wheelchair. Eventually, Tanya catches up with K-as he calls himself to her-stuffing an envelope of loot into her mailbox after a low-lifer had pilfered the contents of her mailbox. Cautiously, he accepts her invitation to sit down and have a cup of tea. His generous charity mystifies Ana, and she tries to extract information from the reluctant vigilante. Instead of giving her his name, he provides her with an initial, but he refuses to get close to her. Moreover, he only comes around to visit Ana when Stormi is away at school.

At one point, Ana mistakes his generosity for lust. She sheds her blouse, but then she realizes quickly that K wasn't attracted to her because he wanted to mate with her. Briefly, she tells him about her party girl days, but she tells him that all that is behind her. Meantime, Richard Tyson's villainous adversary is as gruesome as they come, and you have to wonder why this once gifted actor has stooped to such a degenerate role. Largely, for the sake of violence, Tyrell forces a man to wield a baseball bat and smash the head of a man who has a sack over his head until the sack turns the color of crimson. Incidentally, he received credit as an associate producer. The shoe-string budget is visible throughout this 88-minute opus, and not even Daniel Baldwyn's presence as an abrasive Howard Stern radio personality in cahoots with K can salvage matters. The least that Perez could have done is dedicate the film to the memory of Charles Bronson. "Death Kiss" is an unrated, barebones thriller with enough violence to satisfy anybody in the mood for a bullet-blasting potboiler.

Death Wish minus the story line
semar-fb8 January 2019
For people who lived around 1970s must remember the movies by Charles Bronson with the title Death Wish 1 to 4. This one is trying to imitate the theme of Death Wish, but minus the story line but with the hero who look very much like the late Charles Bronson...., even the real person's name is Bronzi. Talking about coincidence. But I have to say, that is as far as similarity is concerned. It seems to me that the vigilante theme is now on the rise, with Bruce Willis on Death Wish, Jennifer Garner on Peppermint. Apparently I put my expectation too high on Death Kiss. First of all, the title is very confusing...., Death Kiss ? A random killing would be more appropriate and on top of that there is the less famous Baldwin rambling on the radio about some random subject for at least 20 minutes. There are a lot of shooting...., I don't really understand why all the shooting. And if you look at how the actors handle the guns, I can only assume that they are very very strong. Shooting big guns without any apparent kickback on the hand that hold the gun. Overall, what do you expect from a B grade movie. I don't really understand why people want to invest money on making this kind of garbage. Don't they have something better to do with their money ?

i liked this
ops-5253518 October 2018
God, how ive missed that face, charles bronson was the ultratough vigilante on the screen when i grew up, robert kovacs is the spitting image of cb, and his acting are just amazing.it is a dead on target kind of movie with no derailments and mick-mack there are lots of killings and blood,no pardon at all, just, just straightforward and the deed is done done. the film is meant to be thin on the storyline,it is revenge with no remorse that counts. some of the acting are a bit stiff, but that doesnt matter. mr.k seems to be immortal, and i liked the scene where he used a car door as armour against full automatic rounds from an assault weapon. its just like ned kelly, the australian bushmaster in the 19th century. i think this was a brilliant product from mr.perez, who has done the majority of work making this movie, hear hear, please make a follow-up. its also the shortest cast and crew list ive seen for ages. the score are just magnificent. shall i hvave another look ,definately yes

My Review Of "Death Kiss"
ASouthernHorrorFan23 September 2018
Perez's story is a straightforward tribute to classic vigilante b-movies, most notably a tribute to the "Death Wish" franchise, and original gun carrying bad a** Charles Bronson. Take one part vigilante , add equal parts criminal , uber bad guys and disgusting assaults and atrocious acts against women. ..viola! It is classic and timeless. And just as the films before it, "Death Kiss" serves up an action driven bloodbath.

The film is not without flaws, budget restraints and writing down weaken when pushed further than the cast and production can handle. Luckily dialog is, for the most part, short - to the point, and simple through most of the film. The choice of Daniel Baldwin'so character to handle the real hefty dialog as a bridge between audience and plot details is a smart move, and Baldwin shines. That and the fact that Kovacs is nearly devoid of dialog, letting his actions speak brutally sharp for him creates a nice, and entertaining movie experience.

There are also a few flaws in the effects, again, obvious budget concerns put Perez at a limit of what can be achieved. He does a pretty decent job. Aside from the cheap "buzz kill" moments of CGI blood splatter and barral flashes, "Death Kiss" has some cool practical carnage stuff. Done pretty close to realistic the gore and bloodshed work. The overall effect of the movie is a tight, low-budget indie flick fitting somewhere between crime exploitation and grindhouse action film. Definitely worth checking out if you're a crime thriller, vigilante Bronson fan

Has it all except the voice
omendata30 May 2019
Good for a laugh a homage to the old death wish series.

He has the face, the mannerisms, good muscle build and hell, he even has the Paul Kersey walk down pat but the dubbed voice is out of place, they should have let him try and use his own.

The film might not blow you away but better watch out, leave a bad review and Charlie might come a lookin for ya! Blam blam. What will totally blow you away is that the Charles Bronson similarity is uncanny and I speak as an expert having had a Charlie B Magnificent Seven Movie poster on my walls as a kid and many others - he was and still is my favourite actor and such a nice guy in real life in a day and age when men were real men and actors were great like Charlton Heston, Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen, Kirk Douglas, Burt Lancaster, Robert Mitchum and we now have Dicaprio, Afflecks - Oh dear how sad!

Back to the movie it basically a blast em up - not much story but hey who cares the blood splatter and explosion effects are top class and although the acting is pants the movie made me smile with its breathy synth riffs reminiscent of an old John Carpenter or Tangerine Dream soundtrack all done on an old analogue Korg - luvvly jubbly!!!!

Definately not a tribute
demetrius1122 October 2018
This move reminded me of the late 80's when as a young boy rented by accident the "Path of the Dragon" starring Bruce Lae and Chuck Narris. As attempts to cash in on this dead star became a thing, it got a name: Bruceploitation. In this case it is Charlesploitation I suppose. I just hope it does not become a thing as well.

About the movie, simply terrible in every way. Bad acting, bad sound editing, bad script and bad direction. Oh, and bad photography too. Nothing noticeable besides the fact that they found a Bronson lookalike and attempted to copy "Death Wish". What a waste of time and resources.

Once you get over the likeness, it is just bad. I don't want to be mean to the actors, I don't think the script was readable in a way that they even had a chance.Too bad, I really wanted it to be decent.
