Great viewing!

This is just magical viewing, the refined, serious, outspoken British stalwart is unleashed on the American public, talk about a clash of cultures and personality. She begins each episode with an initial opinion that all things American are over the top, loud and brash, but as she learns more she changes her mind and sees what's underneath the surface. Her search for the American dream takes her to the lesser known parts of America, she shows us a side of that country we simply don't see in the UK. Happily there's a huge bond between Brits and Americans, and of course culturally there is a chasm between the two. Miriam is a British Gem, so witty and intelligent, I love the fact that she just doesn't care. Her incredulity at some of the people and what she sees make for compelling and funny viewing.

Pause for fart (and for thought).

Miriam is unabashed, outspoken, loud, frank and utterly mesmerizing. She seems to live in her own wold, and I would love to go there. I love her beyond words so I'm afraid I can't be an impartial judge on this brilliant and all too brief series.

Miriam is in fact a very engaging interviewer, there's seemingly no one immune to her unique charms and she just pulls you in to any and every situation she finds herself in. The series follows many different people from various walks of life, as she asks what the "American Dream" means to them, how important it is in modern society, and if it still exists.

Every episode was an utter joy, I only hope they can find more people for her to ruffle in future series. It can't be hard.

Miriam is Excellent!

I am an American from NY who lived in Chicago until 2016 right before the election. I remember encountering a man on my road trip moving back to NY at a rest stop in Toledo, Ohio who was wearing a Lock Her Up shirt. I felt compelled to strike up a conversation with him in an attempt to understand what made Trump voters tick. I expected him to be all the cliches associated with Trumpism. Much to my surprise, he was a rather nice, articulate, intelligent and gracious guy who (while I disagreed with much of his mindset) served as a microcosm of how many average middle class Americans had become disenchanted with the class inequality and the dying concept of the American Dream and the desire to shake up the status quo by voting for someone like Trump. I came away from that conversation far more informed and finally realized how realistic a Trump victory was - until then the idea seemed absolutely ludicrous. I mention the experience because many commentators have since tried to understand what drives people like Lock Her Up guy and most fall short of capturing the core of their idealism. Miriam totally nails it. Her show captured it via humor and honesty as only Miriam could. It's brilliant and everyone should watch it. Unfortunately it's not easily available in the U.S. but I did finally located it via the web and it was wonderful. If you're interested in the subject and appreciate Miriam's quirky blunt personality, it's worth seeking out this short BBC documentary series. I absolutely loved it and love her!
