A couple and a third wheel play a game called "Odds are" which is like "Truth or Dare" without the "Truth" part. After a day of dares, they top off the evening with one final dare...knock on a stranger's door and get invited in. Kelly (Alejandra Morin) does this and does not return. It appears she is held captive against her will as the film moves into a home break-in film where the homeowner (Ron Eldard) is the bad guy. And then the twist and we are told this was based on actual events so we might like it.

Other than Kelly, the characters were rather boring. Nice twist, but not worth sitting through the entire film.

No sex or nudity.

Actually its not as bad as a 1 or two star.

It does tell the story of the murder of Lawrence Mullholland but there isnt really much tension or suspense in the movie and a lot of implausible situations which usually one would ignore as just being a movie but in this case are more noticeable because the movie doesn't really hold your attention after the first 20- minutes!

Contrary to other reviewers the ending was appropriate because it was what happened, you can't tell a true story and then change the end so it suits the narrative but unfortunately the acting was really sub-par from all involved which did not help.

Its an average watch, not great but then again its not as bad as some of the reviewers are making out but if you are looking for a gripping thriller this is not it!

One word can actually sum it up -> "MEH"! Not great, not bad just meh!

Ok I can tot get this movie was made in a few days on an extremely below low budget but it was still stupid af. The actress were very pretty and would be great in a better movies. Also liked the bad guy he was good as a bad guy but then when he skipped around and danced he lost points with me. When you have a based on or true story, at least have the facts to back it up. All I found was something happened in Eastern Europe so the directors daughter and wife wanted a movie made about it.

I tried googling ALL the names at the end and no such true story could be found. Maybe it was a story the daughter and wife heard about; but never fact checked so they decided to go and make a crappy movie about it anyways. Because this was such a far fetched movie that even Clifford would have a hard time catching the point!

6ft man vs 5ft wooden fence. Fence wins.

22 minutes in this happens and it sets the tone perfectly. Please allow me to elaborate, a 6ft man has the heart-stopping moment of a stuggle when climbing over a feeble, wooden fence that he can look over without standing on his tippy-toes. I actually caught myself waving my hand at the screen and ranting "What are you doing"?! And that's the LEAST ridiculous things that happens in this film.

Now, I'm not going to complain about the rest of the story or the acting or the blah blah blah.

I'm just saying that it's pretty naff and from now on, I need to find a hobby for my Friday evenings as films like this make me question my very existence.

This has to be the most stupid movie I've ever seen. I was really looking forward to watching this and was HIGHLY disappointed!!!! I hope that the people these events actually happened to had much better sense than the characters.. (COMMON SENSE) ..... Geesh, what a let down

I personally would not act anywhere near to what the characters who are involved in this do. Saw inspired a lot of imitations and copycats. Though I think its time to acknowledge that in films people tend to take what they like from other movies and make it their own. So while you could compare it to a degree, it is also quite contained.

Still contained, does not mean things won't get out of hand. So credibility, especially considering the premise this is ultimately based on, is fragile at best. The house of cards comes crumbling if you just even try to think about sense and logic ... if you can avoid that, you may be able to be entertained or whatever you'd call it, by what happens on screen ...

A very very very stupid movie! I hate it when directors make you look stupid, actions were so unreal! I didnt even continue watching it.

Interesting concept, great story except for the end and an enjoyable watch.

REVIEW - ODDS ARE

There is an expression in Yorkshire which sums this film up a treat, there's nowt so strange as people and this based on true events proves as much.

What starts off as a gripping thriller slowly as the film progresses starts to become less and less interesting which is a real shame as this film was based on a true story and as usual Hollywood try to answer the questions and put the dots together but honestly if they hadn't followed what actually happened and just concentrated on the thriller this would have been far better. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed this film but I guessed who the real........ was before it was revealed.

Interesting concept, great story except for the end and an enjoyable watch.

Lazy. They had no story, they had no concept, they had nothing And they made nothing of it. The context and the plot for the whole movie is so stupid that I turned on Facebook after 22 min. It's BS, even for a horror flick. She goes to a random house, leaving her friends in the car, disappears, friends in the car get weird and threatening messages frrom a possible bad guy.

They don't call the police, but go investigate themselves, looking reallly scared. Idiotic movie.

Lazy movie making. I feel bad for the actors.

I truly don't understand all the bad reviews. This movie is far from the trash people are leading it to be. It is absolutely worth the watch. I gave it a 10 just to undo a couple of the one stars that it was unjustly given. In actuality the movie is about a six and a half out of 10.

Odds are those were PRECIOUS minutes of my life gone forever!

There is utterly no saving grace to this movie. Neither the sad plot nor the forgettable cast can save this movie. Do yourself a HUGE favour and pass on this one. Trust me. You'll thank me.

The film started promising... and stayed promising for a full 20 minutes...that is until they got into the house. Then, it got highly predictable and implausible. The villain didn't feel like a villain, the other characters were dumber than the usual horror flick characters and the promised fear was non-existent. I felt I was watching a bad documentary.

If you're a fan of the genre, watch "Don't Breathe", which is not perfect but much better than this...

I did actually watch the whole thing with zero expectations. Hard to do with horror but otherwise so many end up being disappointing. Even the "based on true events" lure couldn't save this movie! I found myself rolling my eyes and groaning about every ten minutes right from the start. To sum it up, if you enjoy movies where main characters do EVERYTHING WRONG all of the time then you might not hate it. Honestly I'm tempted to rewatch it with bad 80's music because as a horror spoof it might be more entertaining! Lol.

HORRIBLE JUST HORRIBLE

I don't write many reviews and when I do I ALWAYS give the movie the Benefit of the doubt. I don't like giving a really low score because there is always something good you can take for each movie (I'm VERY forgiving). This movie was just plain STUPID and TOTALLY unrealistic. What person is going to go into a strange house, with a psychopath who has a gun? Every possible dumb and corny move happens in this movie. Nobody calls the cops, the girlfriend doesn't tell the neighbor what is happening even after he told her a killer lives in the house, and OF COUSE someone's phone dies! I was able and it was VERY TOUGH to make it to about 30 minutes, remember I'm very forgiving. But even I could not make it any longer. This movie is not worth giving up an hour and 41 minutes of your life. I know people always say a movie is terrible and many times it's just ok. But PLEASE believe everyone who gives this a 1 or a very low score. It's not worth wasting your time, there are a lot better movies to watch!

Unique and original

It was an interesting movie to say the least. The plot is amazingly clever and unique. Most of the actors are top notch. The cinematography is top notch. If you are getting bored on a lazy evening this is the perfect movie to cap off the day. I loved it and I am sure you will love it too

Too long and repetitive.

I did sit the whole movie out, curious as to how everything would wind-up, but it was not really a treat, to put it mildly. Biggest problems were the mediocre acting of all involved, and the fact that after a fairly promising beginning the suspense kind of sagged-in: all the endless tip-toeing through the dark house, that was obviously meant to be a nerve-racking cat-and-mouse game, became more and more boring and repetitive. The twist was okay, but not inventive enough to knock me of my feet. It seems to be based on true events, so one can hardly complain about the story and its ending, but if it had been an original script, then there would have been countless plot-holes to criticize (or laugh about). Like why didn't they call 9-1-1 when eventually the guy drove off, his threat to kill their friend if they warned the police by then didn't have any ground anymore. Or call 9-1-1 when they stood in the desert and had locked the guy in, they themselves didn't yet have anything to fear from the police at that point. Oh, and letting the batteries of a cellphone die at the most crucial moment really is such a worn-out cliché! As is the beginning of a horror-flick by showing the main character running around frantically being scared out of her wits by some deadly pursuer, as a preview of what we later in the movie will get to see. I guess that's summing this movie up: a too long and tedious, bad acted cliché.

Okay....-1 Star For Making Us Read Annoying Texts at the beginning...

I hope the movie doesn't do this again.

-1 Star For Goof, One time they didn't do that Odds Are #'s they just proposed a challenge and went right to it. That sorta defeats the whole purpose.

+1 Star For 'History' It encourages critical thinking and Original Thought.... the 'bad' guy is pretty cool And the 'bad' guy gets a pretty raw deal himself.

Physics says there is no way dude could have made jump from rooftop to pool. This really should be a -1 but hey.... it followed a lesson about History so I'm giving it a pass.

Alright the final third of this movie was a little bit of hit and miss. Really didn't affect the score much.

The moral really being 'Play Stupid Games... Win Stupid Prizes.....

Not the worst but not good

On one hand, this movie wasn't horrible. The plot got me in early and I kind of cared what was going on, even though the main characters were doing drastically stupid stuff, and risking way too much over dares. You knew this would come back in the movie. Once the girl is in the house, That's really when I start to have problems with this movie. None of the characters act like any normal person. I think I saw a girl fall down twice just by her own clumsiness. They had countless opportunities to leave. It didn't really explain until the end why the guy was so wanting to get his friend out. By the end you could kind of figure out the plot twist because it was the only thing that made sense. Even before the end you probably figured it out. I don't like movies where they make the characters do dumb decisions to advance the plot, but that's the only way they could advance the plot here. To me that's lazy writing. Add in that many of the decisions just didn't make sense and you had a movie that you wanted to like but you simply couldn't at the end. I stuck around just to see what the ending would be but 3/4 into it you're pretty much done with it. I've seen much worse movies, but this one had potential at least. The movie also acts like they're in a house that is 10,000 ft² because they can never figure out where they are in the house, and it seems to go on forever. And who makes a closet that you can get locked in? Like, why is that even there? There are so many little things I could point out that I just don't have the time to do, But at least the movie had my attention for a little bit.

The 🎥 is interesting and keeps you antsy from the beginning to the end. To all potential 🎥 addicts that go by ratings before watching please watch ODDS ARE, and you will see what I mean.
