Elisabeth Moss is a force to be reckoned with!
SpacedOutChels12 July 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was hard to watch. Elisabeth Moss is an incredible actress and since the first episode of this series she has quickly become one of my favorite actresses. She knows exactly how to deliver every word - how to say it and the facial expressions needed to let the viewer know exactly how she feels. Often times I feel like I'm watching a reality show because everything feels and seems so real.

For reviews that mention, "oh great, more rape", I don't think the reviewers seem to understand that this is what the show is about. Any sex we see, it is rape. They explained to us exactly why this specific scene was going to take place - Serena wanted her baby faster and she knew that a proven and natural way to induce labor is through sex. Did June have a say? No. But has she ever had a say in this arrangement? No. Rape is not meant to be pretty. It's a controversial topic that many people have trouble hearing about. But watching it puts it on a whole other level.

Elisabeth was able to make the viewer uncomfortable, while also making us feel her pain. I've never been in this situation, but I can only imagine that what she was feeling (between her narrative and the facial expressions) that this is what the majority of rape survivors experience and think.

Nobody wants to see it. It's like a car accident - you want to look away but sometimes you can't help but watch. You're forced to experience her pain, just like she was forced to experience it. It's not comfortable and it's not okay. But to have these instances portrayed in the media helps to evoke those emotions in ourselves that we may not have known were there. I think it's also important to state that this happens all over the world. It doesn't matter if someone says no because sometimes it's going to occur regardless.

We need to talk about controversial issues so that we can help create a safe space for those that go through it. I applaud The Handmaid's Tale for bringing these topics to light, no matter how uncomfortable they may be.

One of the Most Satisfying Scenes so Far.

Warning: Spoilers
Yes, this episode has some horrific elements in it, but it also contains the scene that actually got us to applaud. When Roy has his attack after the ceremony/rape, and his accomplice/wife calls for Emily to get help only to have Emily comment calmly that it is best she remain on her back, we cheered. Karma inserted at just the right moment. I hope there are more passive aggressive scenes like this to come.

Absolutely no words to explain the performance she just gave in this stellar episode of this heartbreaking show. It was somber. It was suspenseful. It was Handmaid's tale at its very best

This one completely wrecked me

Elisabeth Moss is otherworldly... I had never seen such heart-breaking, gut wrenching acting before in my life... I was so shocked and torn apart that I didn't even realise tears were streaming down my face and I'm not one to cry often during movies or shows. Watch it, witness the phenomenon. I applaud the whole crew behind this extraordinary episode.

Elisabeth Moss murders entire audience
hobbsmack23 June 2018
Excruciating and gut-wrenching....No fun whatsoever...but I was powerless to turn away from it....did the writers from "the leftovers" take this show over? Because this escalated quickly from pretty good to epic...the entire cast is brilliant and has been solid throughout but Elisabeth Moss just upped her game into the stratosphere...I was not prepared and even though it hurt like hell to witness it I was left awestruck and cheering for her achievement...powerful stuff.

Title: Pollination
Br4ve-trave1or30 June 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This was a very powerful episode and being that I name them I wanted one that meant a lot to it. June narrates and talks a lot about bees and the flowers during Emily's opening scene getting raped and especially when June was. But this title and its metaphor to the episode means so much! The symbolic team too.

This is a males POV. I thought it's important to add this in this review for this particular episode. Maybe someone will think its curious what a man thinks seeing this. Well I'll tell you.

Crushed! My stomachs churned. I felt every ounce of pain from June as she held her child and have witnessed all the physical and mental pain shes endured because of the love she has for that very child and the questions asked, I saw and felt the daggers digging into her stomach. Elizebeth Moss, this is your Emmy episode. Congrats because you just earned your second Emmy this year again!!!

This is what I really think. As Nick watches her I watch her and I think: only females could do this. It takes a special female to endure this much pain and suffering and overcome it or endure it to get up again. Just keep getting up the mat and not giving up. That's what makes this show so special, it shows how strong and powerful a female is! All of this misery and hell that surrounds these handmaids and they still laugh at times and hope, but they get pummeled with pure brutal mental torture that a lot of men couldn't take, but they take it and wait. And wait. This show may be a lot of things having to do with how disturbed these people are, but ultimately it shows how strong women are!

Having said that, this was imo the best episode of the series. To see June grab and latch onto tbe wooden bed post in a moment of pain and then Waterford grab the same spot after raping her later, was so incredibly brilliant! That scene where she is left rendered helpless made me physically hurt for her. My emotions felt like she looks: paralyzed!

Dont tell me this show isnt one of the best series on TV! Yes, it may be extremely close to choosing to sit in front of your TV and waterboard your brain, but in the best way possible because it makes you feel so alive and lucky to have freedom but most of all: grateful to all females for having such strength and courage everyday in this world. I hear your voice!

10/10.

Unexpected - just wow........
Critic_For_Life20 June 2018
Usually each episode just sits with me for days and now time, this episode blows me away. I am just amazed with the acting - Elisabeth Moss is so good, the heartache and the pain of loss that Offred endures really stays with you. So I will gladly wait a week for the next episode as it will give me time to prepare.

Best episode of both seasons
aristapowers0421 June 2018
Elizabeth Moss is a rare gem. She has got to be the greatest actress in our time because no one has ever invoked the emotions in me that she did in this episode. Like others have said, this was a heartbreaking episode and while I cried most of it, the last 15 minutes had me crying REALLY hard. She did such a fantastic job and this episode is in my top 10 best episodes of all time for any tv show. Handmaids Tale is a dark show most of the time but I still keep coming back to it. This show is the highlight of my week and what surprises me is it gets better and better. How can a show at the top of its game get even better? No idea but Handmaids Tale accomplishes that. You are seriously missing out if you don't watch this show. It's just thought provoking and top notch acting. Love it! Go ahead and put Elizabeth's name on the next Golden Globe and Emmy

The Last Ceremony
bobcobb30123 July 2018
Warning: Spoilers
The Last Ceremony was not as impactful as the last time that June saw her daughter, but it was still a big moment here. Elisabeth Moss delivers another remarkable performance during that scene, but in others as well.

I still think the show is a bit overrated, but this was a pretty good episode.

Warning: Spoilers
I hated this episode. It was a complete departure from last week - Serena is all stupid again, yet more rape, contrived "cheating", reunion was poorly scripted. Just hated it all. Worst episode so far.

Another brilliant episode that takes the viewer to beautiful highs and then gut wrenching lows. A stand out kick to the groin had me cheering and I felt June's heart break along with her. Another amazing performance from Elizabeth Moss.

Now it's Getting Bold Again...
icanbeaghost20 June 2018
I will preface this by saying I have been extremely underwhelmed by the second season, until now. Season 1 was weird, insane and amazing and I could barely get through one day without thinking about it. Don't get me wrong, this is a beautifully crafted show, the story gets more entrancing with every passing episode and I have been enthralled throughout the whole series. Season 2 has just been moving a little slow in my opinion and I didn't expect it to take this long to pick back up. I'm not a fan of spoilers so I won't give any here, what I will say is that this has been the most scathing episode thus far and it was well worth the wait. Perhaps there's a strategy to this? I'm sure there is. Reel in the masses with the debut season then keep them guessing and wondering throughout the second, so they crave more and more, and are eventually rewarded for their patience. Needless to say, I am one of those patient cravers and I am swollen with emotion after this episode. You will be too.

Heart-wrenching Choices
badeclerck9 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
As The Handmaid's Tale Season 2 hurtles towards its conclusion, the intensity reaches new heights in the tenth episode, delivering a gripping narrative that is both heart-wrenching and unpredictable.

The episode unfolds in two distinct segments, the first revolving around June's impending childbirth. Expectations are high as preparations are made for the baby's arrival. However, tension mounts as false contractions hint at June's deliberate attempts to delay the birth. It becomes evident that June is strategically navigating the circumstances, leveraging her control over the situation. The ensuing scene in the commander's office, where June requests a reassignment to her daughter Hannah's district, is met with refusal and frustration. The commander, visibly irritated by June's persistent requests, reinforces her position as a subservient figure.

The narrative takes a harrowing turn as Serena orchestrates the final ceremony, designed to facilitate the baby's exit. The ritual unfolds in a gut-wrenching scene, leaving viewers torn between empathy for June and revulsion for the oppressive system. June, stunned and immobilized, bears witness to a moment that symbolizes the brutal reality of Gilead.

The second segment offers a poignant twist as June is transported to an unfamiliar location, where she is unexpectedly reunited with her firstborn, Hannah. The emotional reunion is underscored by the heartbreaking realization of the indoctrination that has shaped Hannah's new family. The scene culminates in a tearful separation, with Hannah torn between her desire to stay with June and the forces that compel her departure. The wrenching moment intensifies as the Eyes, Gilead's enforcers, make an appearance. In a swift and devastating turn, Hannah is taken away, leaving June to hide at Nick's insistence.

This episode masterfully navigates the emotional and psychological complexities of June's journey. From calculated resistance to heartbreaking reunions, each moment propels the narrative towards an uncertain climax. The viewer is left on the edge of their seat, eager to unravel the remaining threads of this enthralling tale and discover the fate that awaits June in the concluding chapters of the season.

Faking it
Leofwine_draca19 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Another time-wasting filler episode; this one's got an annoying "false birth" sequence decided to fill out the first half of the running time. Then we're back at the beginning of the series with another extremely unpleasant and gratuitous rape sequence which turned my stomach in terms of pure sadism. The only time the episode picks up is right at the end - after ten minutes of pure sentimentality - with a decent twist that promises much for the next episode.

Raped while pregnant; June Hugs Hannah
vivianla6 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Emily goes through the Ceremony. The commander who rapes her grunts and moans but then collapses. The wife demands Emily to call for help like a servant but Emily replies smartly that lying on her back will give it a better chance. Emily will be reassigned to a new household.

While at the grocery store June has contractions. The baby ambulance alarm rings and the women gather into the home. June gets onto the bed and downstairs the commanders' wives have their own fake labour with harp music. Turns out it was a false alarm. The creepy gynaecologist who offered to help June by having sex with her tells Lydia and Serena that the baby isn't coming out anytime soon. He doesn't want to induce when requested by Serena because of the previous bleeding.

Fred goes to the greenhouse and suggests to Serena they use a natural method to induce natural labour. Later that night Fred and Serena force June onto the bed as Fred rapes her. In the aftermath June lies there, numb and shocked.

Fred goes into June's room and tells her he has a surprise. He gives Nick instructions and Nick drives to a beautiful home in the woods. Nick keeps asking June what happened - what did Fred do to her? She doesn't reply. Inside the home Hannah is with her Martha. A soldier is there as well.

Nick tells June to hide in the home as he confronts the Guardians. Nick is pulled in the vehicle and they leave. June runs out not knowing what to do.
