A Gleam of Hope...
AliAkbar9919 December 2017
Warning: Spoilers
It was not unpredictable and definitely didn't "knock my socks off", it was though, the most powerful moments this series has experienced since its second season's begun.

The major problem is writing. Designated Survivor Season 2 is poorly written. just 2 episodes have got acceptable but not great writing. It's less compelling, less thrilling. Compared to the first season, it's considered as a failure. 60% of plots which were written for just one episode were completely unnecessary. The political crises (!) were too simple, too unreal, too wishy-washy and were solved only by Kirkman shouting like Jack Bauer! By bullying the Jack Bauer's side of Kiefer Sutherland! just like episode 7's crisis. In the real world, this is not what happens.

Mr Keith Eisner, the new Show runner, has added 3 new characters. Damian Rennett is the only new character that is interesting. Lyor has done absolutely nothing but bringing a kind of humor, which I hate, to a series which is fundamentally super serious! Come on!!!!! If I wanted a comdey-based political drama, I would try "Weep"! I guess writers have forgotten quintessence of this series! It's not House of Cards or Weep or West wing or Scandal or 24! For god's sake, This "Designated Survivor" has got more potentials. Kind of potential's that HOC or the other above-mentioned series, have never got the chance to have. Yet, the writers are fully wasting these potentials by talking about bees (episode 9) and the same matters.

To Mr. Keith Eisner and his coworkers : "Can't you really come up with something more than this??? more suspenseful that this? more intense than this? more real than this? Can't you get rid of irritating subplots and start telling 5 or 6 interconnected major plots? I swear I myself can tell 5 o 6 stories far better than what the first half of this season has told! You're wasting every potential this series has. The number of viewers has been dramatically decreased due to your tireless effort of bringing new West Wing in. Nevertheless, you don't have to. The cast is fantastic, but only because of your weak writings, they can't shine, they can't act the way they are capable of. Stop ruining this series with these illogical ideas! The idea of telling these kind of stories for 22 episodes is basically wrong."

This Episode "Line of Fire", regardless of the stubborn extremists plot which was an awful one, was overall acceptable, far weaker than "The End of the Begining", yet. A major character has been written off in the way which was the easiest! Just a normal accident! And there's apparently a lot about Damian we got to find out! A gleam of hope for a strong and suspenseful second half. May this hope will not be dashed!!!

A Broken Equilibrium
Vivkon1 December 2018
In this episode writers save one life, but lose another. This episode dramatizes a key story point in the series. Writers narrow President Kirkmans' options for making decisions. He cannot trust anyone. It is an absolutely tear-jerking episode.

A Major Turn for Everyone
Hitchcoc20 July 2019
While the investigation of the First Lady goes on, the President must deal with members of a religious sect. I really believe the writers took the easy way out in this one. But Hannah is hell bent for leather and could be accused of murder when she plays judge, jury, and executioner. Although there are mitigating circumstances revealed. But, of course, the conclusion is the real zinger.

Show has potential, but.......
m-fallon6715 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was interesting, with the lady FBI agent trying to weed out a double agent, President Kirkman trying to save a religious group from a fire, who are protesting a member's infant child under going a court ordered medical procedure, because of blood transfusions. The writers walk a fine line with the characters, of the religious group, but I think they were fair in presentation, even though I don't agree with it. After all it is a work of fiction. Too often Hollywood portrays Christians with sincere religious beliefs, as uneducated loons, or Bible quoting insane killers. I know this may be nitpicking, but the traffic accident with the large truck, T boning a the First Lady's SUV, was unrealistic. Every time the First Lady is in her motorcade, she is escorted by local motorcycle traffic cops, who block all cross streets, along the route, in a rolling fashion. No traffic cops seen in this scene, so they could kill off the First Lady, I guess.

Line of Fire
bobcobb30114 December 2017
Warning: Spoilers
This show still has yet to be great, but at least the last couple of episodes have been watchable. Unfortunately, I had the big twist at the end spoiled weeks ago by TV sites, but I think it might be the thing to shake this show up and take it in a more aggressive and immediate direction.

It was a decent mid-season finale. No over the top dialogue for the first time, and the bit with the annoying staffer ordering the young carolers around was probably the best moment he has had yet.

Good production but awful story.
alvil-393778 September 2020
The first series was based on an interesting concept. After the first few episodes it started to stretch belief. I have persevered into the second series largely due to the quality of the production but I think I have reached the end of the line. A very, very pale imitation of the West Wing. The storylines belong in a children's comic.

The worst episode in the whole series
bitnicat24 April 2022
The worst episode in the whole series. And in general the second season does not come close to the level of the first season. Most of the season is banal and boring, unlike the first season which was suspenseful and interesting from start to finish. Too bad the screenwriters decided to ruin the series with this second season and especially with this horrible episode.

Story is silly.

Warning: Spoilers
Storyline is silly. Only good writing was the death of the First Lady. Too bad it wasn't Hannah Wells that died.

Hannah Weils did such a silly acting when she killed her BF
mshmous2 October 2023
It's a silly storyline when you let Hannah kills her boyfriend without any trial or at least you should catch him with FBI office then do some investigation, they should fired her straight after that, I know he did not die, but at least do some action against her, now I reach season 2 eb 10, and I get so sad and I think I'll not complete this series.

It's getting even worst you let her do her work straight after that on eb 11, this unacceptable at all to me as someone get attacked to this series, overall I can't compare to season 1, but at least don't let Hannah do that like nothing is happened.
