Boring
nikoskont28 February 2021
Not the worst but boring implementation of the concept.

If you get bored the first 10 minutes gave up, will not get much better or skip to last 10 minutes.

Could be worse

Its not the best, but its not that bad either. Once the plot is revealed the story makes no sense anymore! The two females in the lead saves the movie from being a waste of time. They do a good job, and we see their boobs :-)

Excellent story line, fantastic music

I have been getting tired of movies using tired story limes, being overly political, or using superheroes. This movie was a good one for its originality, intellectual engagement, and damn good acting. There were no superstars, so the movies was not about the actor, it was about the story. Weaving in the conspiracy theories without making it silly was just plain good writing. The limited use of CGI made it even more about the story - not the CGI. Now, the music was fantastic! This movie does not call for bombastic themes, and Mick Rossi wrote some great music. The music never gets in the way, and, sometimes, you don't even notice it because it is doing what music in a movie should do, adding to the story being told. Some of it may seem very minimalist, but when you listen closely, you hear the intricacy with the simple. Rossi's music sounds like no one else - he has a unique sound and a great sense of what works and where it works. I have been sick of what Netflix and Amazon have been showing, and there are no good movies coming out of Hollywood, so this was a welcome breath of fresh air.

Very good genre and storytelling

A Horror and SciFi movie. The combination of interesting and easy-to-understand genre and storytelling. Many good values by watching this movie seriously.

Magic Mirror on the Wall

Warning: Spoilers
"Variant" is a smart science fiction film disguised as a stalker film. It combines chaos theory and virtual or alternate reality into one and with the Mandela effect. The last one I didn't know was a thing. Aria (Ashlynn Yennie ) is a struggling artist who wants some space with her boyfriend Thomas (Josh Zuckerman). She meets Joel (Dino Antoniou ) a man who acts like a life coach. Things in Aria's life are not what she remembers. There are slight variables such as her spoons being in a different drawer. In addition to art, the talk is about the science or science fiction behind the film.

Like "Primer" I liked the idea and all the geek stuff. I didn't like the execution and wished Joel had personality. The Twist at the end I did not see coming in spite of the sparse clues.

Guide: F-word. Implied sex. Nudity (Sonalii Castillo)

Warning: Spoilers
Other then not having a clue, what the film was actually about, it was quite good, decent acting, were they in like the Matrix? And why did she want to be re-born, as he would be there, in this life she killed him?

I'm confused :-(
