Hot on the heels of watching 2016's "Victorian Bakers" I went almost immediately into this, from the year afterwards, where instead of bakers hurled through time to contend with the realities of their craft across recent British history, it is confectionary makers. Two chocolatiers, a cake maker and a sweet consultant to be exact. They're a far more coherent and friendly team than the bakers and the brilliant Dr Annie Gray is joined this time by earnest social historian Emma Dabiri. It's extremely pleasant viewing and has some fascinating insights into the radically shifting palette and historical context for sweet eating in Britain from the Tudor period to the early 20th C. I'm not sure anything next but I'd happily go through every single profession like this. Next: Brick layers!
