Warning: Spoilers
Hulu's answer to Preacher, from the same producers of that show, had some good moments and some bad moments in its pilots. If you watched Dimension 404, another show on this streaming service, you know there was an episode quite similar to this one so that sort of put a damper on the premise here.

There is potential given the cast, given the concept, but this show needs some work.

Warning: Spoilers
While every guy wishes Lara Croft would come to him in real life while he's jerking it and hope she might be interested this takes it a bit far. It stretches the just go with it minds of possibilities way past the edge of realistic. I say skip it. There are way better shows out there even on Hulu and Netflix. There is no need to waste brain cells where you can't get them back.

The Last Starfighter meets Chuck

I've always said we have run out of original ideas and this show proves it. Nerdy janitor plays video game, beats video game and is recruited to save the world. The characters are all two-dimensional and the acting is horrid. Rent The Last Starfighter if you want to see a better version.

If you like profanity & vulgar innuendo every other minute, then this is for you.

I forwarded through most of it, & won't be watching the rest of the episodes. The plot was interesting, but massively poorly executed, & the dialog was horrendous. I should have known it was made in the US, as they can't make any film, without, profanity, vulgar/potty "humor", or bodily functions, in them.

Really?
pungster1 September 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I didn't even make it past the first episode. I thought it had potential after seeing the trailer and the beginning of the pilot. Even if there were a couple of awkward moments that I could have done without. But then that fateful moment came where Josh Hutcherson's character actually came, accidentally, on the video game guy when he and the girl just showed up out of nowhere, and that was it for me. I mean, really? What kind of adult thinks that's actually funny?

I usually don't consider myself a prude, but that was just too much for me. There are other things I could be watching instead of this tripe that seems to mostly consist of "humor" that you might find funny if you're 13 and still don't get this whole "sex" thing.

Future Man centers on Josh Futturman (Josh Hutcherson) a lowly janitor in a research science lab.

Josh spends all his spare time playing video games and he manages to crack a difficult game with an inspired tactic.

Only to find that he has unleashed some visitors from the future who thinks Josh is the saviour. The freedom fighters Tiger (Eliza Coupe) and Wolf (Derek Wilson) take Josh to 1969.

Dr Kronish (Keith David) is the scientist who works in the research lab who contracted Herpes Simplex in college. His discovery of a cure will later destroy humanity in the future. Their task is to stop young Kronish getting Herpes Simplex which he did after he kissed a girl.

Future Man is corny rather than high concept. It has elements of other sci fi tv or movies. Back to the Future is the obvious one and it even snatches the notes from that movie when Josh ends up in his grandparents house in 1969.

There are also bits of Ready Player One and Life on Mars and we are only in the first episode yet.

As to the success of the series. Much will depend on the stories and whether Josh Hutcherson can pull off the humour in the style of Michael J Fox.
