Sad

Warning: Spoilers
Grab a tissue if you love animals. This was a movie about bulling plain and simple and just how fast things can go downhill. It is sad but true how ppl just let bullies keep being who they are. The main character was easy to relate to, a laid back kid just trying to do good in the world. What was even sadder was I didn't know he actually died in real life. For me this movie was about the drama's in real life high school and the choices you make. It was at least half good for something to watch.

Terrible ending
holly9000-121 October 2021
This was a pretty good effort as far as the acting went but wow, what a disappointing ending. The rest of the movie was ok, the shots were good, the script was not bad and the kids were believable in their roles but that ending just ruined it for me :( 5/10.

Mixed, Slow, Unrealistic
tepig-945401 January 2023
The only reason people watched this movie is because it was Cameron Boyce's final role, as is my reason as well, knowing him from "Jessie". Lots of the acting was cliche and stereotypical, and there was no depth to any character besides a glimpse of Cal. It seems to have everything but a plot and lore behind these characters, even as the film goes on, these characters end the same way they were introduced to us as, with no redemption or change to them to give us a reason as to why we should root for or care about them.

"Runt" is the name of Cal's dog, not because it is a metaphor for how Cal's character is treated or because it's his character's nickname, and there is very little screen time of Cal and Runt, which is disappointing, as it was the only part of the film I found life in. Which is a waste of a part of this story that would have made this title or the film make more sense.

The plot is very predictable, even with Runt's fate and the reactions of the characters, which makes for a slow-moving, boring film. It is also extremely stereotypical in an attempt to "stand out" in every single character trope in a teen movie you can think of. Every single scene can be imagined before it happens, and you will be right in how it plays out.

Watch if you're a fan of Boyce and want to see his last film. Otherwise, there's sadly not much if a movie to see overall as it will forever live in the shadow of his death.

Very Little to See Here
zorroaca20 October 2021
So slow it is painful... the story is an old one and has been told told told... and the acting is as bad as the last Eastwood movie. With so much out there these days... a waste of time really.

Heartfelt

The negative reviews on here had never been bullied in school! The pain of that experience is real and this movie shows it. It's even worse than everything depicted in the movie.

BAD acting STUPID ending
BenDryer2 November 2021
What a dumb movie. Cameron Boyce was okay. Briana Hildbrand was hot but barely in it. She should have been the star with Cameron. That other white girl was easily the worst one. The cast ruined the plot. Stupid ending, not edgy what they think. Big waste of time.

Its a good movie, i actually liked it. The main actor is the cute freckled boy from mirrors. Good acting. The teenage girlfriend needs acting classes.

Sad, yet riveting

Warning: Spoilers
This movie was complexifying to watch like traumatizing. Cameron Boyce plays Calvin, a bullied high school student in somewhat a disclosed location. Cal had always thought about Gabriella (Brianna Hildebrand) in a loving way since eighth grade. Here's the gist of the problem, Aramis Knight's role is Victor whose dating Gabriella. Big problem arises when Vic finds out about Cal's crush. As a victim of bullying throughout the continuation of my life until I dropped out of high school during my senior year. I was felt the similar position as this main lead character. Evidently, there were flaws with this film mainly, in the first half. We don't see Cal's mother at all, or what she was doing in her room. We may never know... I'm sad for incident regarding Boyce. Usually, bullying turns to another person. The football coach is more of a jerk than his players. I was always afraid of going to school, tell staff about it because of people teasing me thinking I'm a snitch. I couldn't even tell my parents about how I felt as a victim, prior high school, I've gotten bullied when I was little as well. Although, I do wish I gain revenge as well... something small but satisfying. Oh well, that's what karma is for. The bullying that occured from ages 11 to 18 or 19 was hard to deal with, I had developed mental illness symptoms additionally. This was real, nothing too fictional. It was frightening how these jocks aka the bullies are souless a-holes. You'll later find out why I said that, I don't wanna spoil everything. I'm just glad I left when I can, it wasn't easy handling it by myself everyday. Stay in school if you manage to find real friends to help you, sadly... I didn't. Bullies in real time somewhat ruined a big chunk of my life. Rest In Peace Cameron Boyce, man--tragic for a last and final role. Boyce, you were a badass--your fans (including myself) love ya dude. :/

Watered down Purge
evrafpjbk3 December 2021
Watered down plagiarized nonsense. Very few surprises and the acting doesn't really deliver. Watched it cause of the hype made around an actors last film. And it didn't pull it across the finish line.

Loved it

Warning: Spoilers
I really enjoyed this movie because I was once bullied in high school and I sucks like hell. Then when you try to tell others about it no one listens or believes you. I liked the cast and it was really sad when Runt was found dead. Very relatable in my opinion.

Wrong timestamp
highflight-6706010 June 2022
In what 2018 high school in the USA do male students wear wifebeaters and backwards baseball caps? Hoodies with no sleeves, hair with no lines and sideburns to boot.

Lol and they're the cool kids?

Wow, whoever came up with this must still be thinking it's high school in the 1950's.

Hard to watch because of it. It was like a huge joke. Vomit.

Striving to be unique but ultimately a familiar but stilted trope of teenage angst
long-chrislong24 October 2021
A familiar trip down the coming-of-age high school lane with a few smatterings of good acting and a unique modern-day take on latch-key kids. Brianna Hildebrand, Cameron Boyce (may he RIP), and Jason Patric all work hard and do an admirable job of selling the story. However, even though Coakley paints a lot of pretty dots he couldn't connect them to make something cohesive and satisfying leaving many unresolved loose ends leaving the viewer wondering what this movie was even about.

Too Many Usuals
westsideschl11 February 2022
Loads of stereotypes. Picked on/bullied h.s. Student in stereotypical ways (e.g. Pranks; being harassed in & out of class) by the usual several football players. The usual he likes the unattainable girl. The usual dumb (and not realistic) teachers/administrators not aware of bullying. The usual in principle's office and, of course, denial of bullying with the usual football coach saying that the accused players futures are at jeopardy if they fail classes. The usual bullying & reprisal escalates in an unrealistic way (for some reason school surveillance cameras & police never consulted). The usual football coach acting over-the-top tough. Film dedicated to the memory of Cameron Boyce, Christian Van Gregg, yet, oddly, I can find no info indicating a Van Gregg passing.

0 DEPTH, UNSATISFYING ENDING
futuremoviestar-5581519 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I don't like to be a movie snob, I like all movies. The thing is that this movie sucks. Might as well call it "Bullied guy kills bully". The ending too just left me empty with the whole thing. Oh and just a little spoiler, the "twist" in this movie is that the girl that wanted him and stuff told him to kill the bully at the end WOWZA!!! Just oh my god, It was so bad. It's insane, this is the last movie that Cameron did before he died. You'd think that the movie would be good, he even said that it spread a "good message" (at the end credits of the movie) I'm just so utterly disappointed, don't waste your time.
