Quite good acting, bad lines and a story that is very loose.
bruno_dreamer26 May 2022
Had it been15 minutes shorter with more attention to the lines of the characters I would have enjoyed more. Honestly, I didn't understand the reasons for the killer to do what he was doing in a random college. He could have achieved his goals in a much easier way if he had looked elsewhere. The "division" between two parts of the movie was interesting cause it made me feel we were moving towards something interesting, but it never got there really. And the final smack down was very easy and quick.

A bit of a Seven vibe, with some found footage
georgi_lindsey22 April 2023
I wouldn't class this as a horror bit a good watch. My only issue is a discussion with a doctor where the police are horrified by animal organ transplants. This is pretty common and it's made to be "experimental", I felt this lack of insight really lowered it's credibility. The audio is annoying as it jumps up and down, but the story has potential and has a dark and morose atmosphere. It's broody, like Seven but brings in some found footage elements. Plus some real time parts so there's a lot going on to keep you interested. Don't go in expecting to be blown away but definitely a decent watch. It's a puzzle type thriller, you're working it all out with the lead detectives and it's okay.

Apart from some gore, hardly adequate horror-attempt.
johannes2000-112 July 2022
If you can endure the first 15 minutes of found footage material without getting seasick (or irritated), and you don't mind a farfetched and illogical story, you'll see that it's not all bad. At least the gore and violence are well done, and the premise (some students try to make a movie, when in the process their girlfriend is abducted by what turns out to be a psychopathic mass murderer) starts out as fairly original.

Biggest problem is (apart from the story), that the pace at several times sags, due to too many too long scenes and way too much talking, especially by the two detectives, who curiously enough behave, in spite of all their expressed urgency, as tired sleepwalkers, forever pondering and puzzling and deliberating. Another problem are the scenes with the villain, we endlessly see the main characters tied up in their chairs, and the villain walking in and out on them without ever saying a word. This way he never becomes a real person with understandable motives. In fact, apart from the start and the end of the movie, it's all rather uneventful and on the brink of tedious.

The whole thing impresses as a well meant try by film academy students, which probably has been the deliberate aim of the director, when we see the very last scene with the (at least to me!) surprising twist. Even so, the result is as you might expect of such a try: sympathetic but hardly adequate.

A bit mystery, but overall full of super annoying overuse scene! Bored to freaking death!
kwenchow5 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This film start with a professor having speech with his students, and a bunch of students talking with each other after the class scene! As turnout, this film is a movie made by a bunch of film making students, and the movie is about two detectives need to save three victims from the kidnap of a mastermind called "Charles"! Entire film full of boring conversation, and annoying overuse scene! Such as, overuse of the walking scene, overuse of the searching scene, overuse of the arguing scene, overuse of the calling names scene, overuse of the watching video footage scene, overuse of the super shaky camera POV scene, overuse of the running scene, overuse of the interrogate scene, overuse of the driving scene, and overuse of the holding torchlight scene! Make the film unwatchable! At the end, we found out this film actually is a movie made by a bunch of film making students! That's it! Wasting time to watch!

All the trees look the same.
nogodnomasters8 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
For a film project, college kids make a film about zombie prostitutes called "Street Walkers." During the initial scene, Erica (Steffani Brass) is kidnapped by a person we later discover is known as "The Shadow" and plot spoiler, it is not Tony Todd. Jake (Vince Hill-Bedford) and Ryan (David Gridley) pursue in their car. Later the police get some found footage from the scene and go and investigate.

Part of the film is found footage, but not enough to be annoying. The ending has been done and wasn't that clever. I thought it detracted from the film. I guess Tony Todd has been reduced to cameos.

Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity.

Solid B movie
bentram22 January 2022
Well I went into this not knowing what I was about to see but I found myself enthralled in the suspense. It kept me engaged and wanting to know the outcome. It was surprisingly well done, it had some throwback acting to the days of detective murder mysteries from the detectives but there was strong convincing acting in it as well mainly from the victims. Had some tongue and cheek moments regarding running out of time that made me smirk but well played in my opinion. I'd say to any who is reading this, I believe you will enjoy this and be gripping something along the way. Ending is fairly climactic with a twist. So kudos for that intelligent idea. Feelings may be mixed because of it depending on your taste but still worth a conversation after for a bit. And possibly and no way or ya got to be kidding me to follow while having a smile like you just been had or had you? ;) as I said solid B movie, way better than some I've seen for sure. Worth a watch. I found it to be creative and clever with a mix of several unique ideas.

Loved it
cynvanity30 August 2022
I'm so glad i found this. Stoker Hills is a really well made thriller movie that kept me on the edge of my seat right to the very end. Great cast but my favorite in this is Tony Todd who plays a professor and really toke this film to the next level. The script was solid which was important with plenty of surprises that you wouldn't expect. Just when I thought I had figured where this film is heading towards it makes an unexpected turn. This isn't a big budget film but the plot, acting and the quality of the production really made Stoker Hills Shine. This is a weekend movie to watch with family and friends, I highly recommend it, seriously well done!

PLENTY dark corridors, woods and scary abandoned buildings
herleifl26 October 2023
Here we have a nice b movie with lots of x-files, Seven, Silence of the lamb thriller vibes - parts are in found footage style but not most of it, just wanted to let you know. It's not as professional as those movies mentioned of course but it has mood and dark suspense so I enjoyed it. Acting is surprisingly (I've seen a lot of b movies lately) good. I'm not sure why some complain about the story, I felt understood it even if everything was not spelled out - now for the pacing and atmosphere, this is a matter of taste, there's PLENTY dark corridors, woods and scary abandoned buildings, so if you're into that stuff you probably won't complain. It has its share of murders and blood, be warned. There's some character development, just a little tongue in cheek, which is fine.
