Slowest episode of the season, but still pretty good Warning: Spoilers
Season 3 has in my opinion been the best season so far. This episode wasn't bad but I got for the first time a feeling that they were stretching out events. After entering the ring at the end of the last episode, I was truly looking forward for things to start escalating and getting more information about what the protomolecule is and what objective it has.

The episode does however reveal what happened to Roci after entering the ring and where they're headed in the next episode. I just wish they would've had Miller appear at the start of the episode, directing them to the weird planet thing and getting some decent glimpses regarding what it is.

I hope and strongly expect for more things to happen in the next episode, because a sci-fi story of this caliber does not deserve any filler time.

Into The Unknown

Greetings from Lithuania.

Wow - can't remember when was the last time i was watching a sci-fi show that got me so much involved into its amazing story. While "Intransigence", 9th episode of this amazing season 3 was its best, it did move story forward. With only 4 episodes left in this season, i can not wait to see them all. One can only admire the scope of the story this show has envisioned - its truly one of the best sci-fi stories in general I've ever saw.

From a true Expanse fan: Ambiguous, slow & very average episode
nitish-shete10 June 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I have given 10 star rating (plus left a review) to the last episode which left us with cliffhanger. So when the series reaches such peak points and thrilling possibilities, the worst thing it could do is show us this episode.

It was simply a filler and I can't understand why they took 45 minutes to show this what could have been wrapped up in first 15 minutes of episode.

Let me clarify, it WASN'T a bad episode as such; but when the Roci entered the long coveted Ring, the viewers are expecting the pace to dial up a notch or remain at that level. If not pace, at least I expected plot to progress and clarify a bit more on where exactly they are and how the ring is different than our world. Instead all we got is "There are no stars here".

To add to that, the visuals of the Ring & Ship were repetitive and confusing(reminded me of similar 'Interstellar' shots which annoyed me in an otherwise good movie). It didn't work that Roci crew knew the inside architecture of the ring(they talked about 2 exit points etc?), but director failed to convey or 100% clarify the exact same knowledge to audience. The Martian probe followed them into the ring I guess? But it all was depicted and written in ambiguous manner.

I hope we see some good plot progress in next episode; and hope the visuals and dialogues are clearer as to what they want to convey audience.

The series has a long story to tell, so there no need to stretch it and create filler episodes. Plus, the series is getting renewed by Amazon and wider audience would soon start watching it, in whcih case there shoudn't be any stone left unturned to make each episode a best quality TV. I hope the creators understand that. This is the first average episode of the series, so it is no big deal I guess, I am still hooked to what future episodes are brining!!

A slow decline
vutescuv-154-15635014 June 2018
Somehow I'm more and more disappointed by the show.

Used to be 90% action and 10% talking, and all the new notions introduced were explained simply by integrating them in the movie.

Now is like 75% talking, 25% action, and most of the talking is basically religion and feelings and explaining new notions / concepts.

One year ago I would've rated it 8/10, today is 5/10 and I'm being generous.

Elizabeth Mitchell - I liked her in Lost. Her acting, her role, everything. Right now, in Expanse, she is just as annoying as Shohreh Aghdashloo, if not more. And the reason I brought this up is because most of that endless talking comes from her part.

You are losing it, guys, and the recent drop in the popularity sure tells you something is wrong. You are diluting each episode way too much and expand it's duration with forced conversations.

I'm not rooting for characters anymore. They talk too much, they stopped being interesting. Now are just annoying. Strait and Chatham still carry the show, but I wonder for how long...

I am about to give up.

I have been trying to get through this episode for a week now. All the new characters are making it unbearable. Also, why does Naomi mysteriously have a Belter accent now? I find it very annoying.

What's happened to this show
seanhalliwell25 October 2019
The first two seasons was gripping and intense with non stop action. Writing was very good. Now I can't seem to watch it concentration level is zero and end up flicking thru social media or the mail because it's a background show now. In fact it's boring, lost the plot completely for three episodes now. I'll try and watch one more if no better it's off my watchlist.... advice.

Cancel it!

I give up
mgl-920377 June 2018
I want to like the series, and I have enjoyed some episodes this season more than in season 2. Despite that, I quit. In trying to make sense of my dissatisfaction, I have settled on a few points.

1) Visually, Expanse scenes in space are extremely monotonous. Whether in a ship or showing space, the glaring palette with a small range of colors has really worn me down.

2) The acting. This is the biggest problem. The leads are absolute terrible. On the Roci, everyone except Amos is such an anti-talent that my teeth grind. Miller is good. Fred Johnson is good. That's it. The Prime Minister and his aide (the traitor) are both cartoonish. Avarasarala is passable.

3) Nothing happens which makes sense. Yes, there is action, but nothing seems rational to me. Everything is obviously written into the story to give the characters something to do. This is especially true of the crew of the Roci, who have no business being every important place in the solar system at exactly the right time.

I have read several of the books, so I can tell you that if you're waiting for something to happen which brings events to a logical stopping place, give up now. If you are enjoying the random, nonsensical plot lines, keep going.

As I said at the top, I want to like the series. The production values are great. I like the scale. The solar system has so much concrete interest to it. Unfortunately, we're not getting a real sense of the solar system, with the long distances, varying flight times, and the sheer impossibility of making some connections. So, good bye, Expanse.

If have no good plot, use gore and fillers
pkpera8 June 2018
After good episodes dealing with Solar system war - it jumped in some new dangers - of course, we all love watching others in danger :-) There were some really unnecessary side stories - like that racing dude. Wait, how can I say that it was unnecessary ? They repeated that head tear apart scene at least 3 times - so yes, it was necessary , because people needs gore ! If they put it once again in 'previously in ...' part of some of next episodes, I'm done with this serial, SyFy ... They just have no respect toward viewers, and push crap over crap. This episode was pretty much messy, not good paced. Things getting in same way as with now cancelled Game of Thrones - just add and add more, while closing to some finale is not in sight at all. Pure stretching. Even, when once they finished war, it was presented so poorly, and just jumped further. Sorry, I'm not action junkie. I want something more. And we know what they want - money, more money ...

P.S. (edit, 1 day later) - looking those 'found helpful' votes, below reviews - really ? What sense it has at all ? Because it is obvious as bright Sun that 'helpful' for most means I agree with written, or more suitable for votes here - I consider as helpful only reviews which praise this episode, serial. In my case it is 1 of 7, in other negative review (same rating 4) it is 1 of 25 :-) While those with rating 10, and with total about whole 10 words got 10 from 11. That's so pathetic. Some even wrote not review here, and would be not approved a year ago, yet, it is helpful. Where standards gone ?
