If a Brad Pitt knock-off moves next door, look out.....
mja586 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This was the usal LMN movie that was just fun to watch and not to be taken seriously - my comments:

1. Mother and daughter Porter look more like sisters that mother and daughter.

2. Mrs. Porter's estranged husband is really a sad character - I felt sorry for him.

3. No more morning coffee! - - that was the reason for all the mayhem? Weird.

4. The character of Kat Riley was an over-the-top floozy.

5. The ending is the usual crainess - Ms. Porter kicks some serious butt!!

bad sound design and bad turn
SnoopyStyle6 January 2019
It's the gated community of Shady Grove. Lindsay Porter (Julie McNiven) has been divorced for two year and has teenage daughter Jamie. She owns a local gym and Valerie is a new employee who left her abusive ex-husband. Stephen Lane is the new neighbor. Kat Riley is the single real estate agent who sold Stephen the house. Nikki is Jamie's best friend and Janet Chung is Nikki's mother. Barrett is the night watchman. Despite vowing never to marry again, Lindsay starts dating Stephen.

After reading all the bad reviews, I got interested. Apparently, the music and sound design annoyed some people. The sound design is bad at the start. The non-stop music cues get annoying. The story itself intrigued me with a whodunnit which I like. Once the reveal happens, the culprit becomes a ridiculous psycho. The villain turn is so over the top that whatever appeal is lost. Up until that point, I almost forgive the movie for all its flaws.

Patchwork murder mystery
dttruman14 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Just another one of Lifetime's ill conceived put together movies that gives you many suspects, but with no substance. The ending is the epitome of worthless conclusions, where the killer (like in most other Lifetime movies) is rendered helpless, but the main character and/or family members for some reason always fail to pick up the killers gun and hold for the police, but decide to run off, so as to extend the story for a more ridiculous finale.

And yes the Music was way too loud!

Shame on the film producers
juliewllsn13 October 2018
Absolutely ruined by the background music, couldn't hear the actors dialogue at all. Pity, it would have been quite a good film if you could hear it properly.

This lifetime movie is so bad. The plot was so stupid. The characters was annoying and unlikable. The main character was terrible. I was glad when the film was finished.

Good enough film but ridiculous loud background music, so loud at times didn't know what was being said by the actors.

Really
svader4 August 2020
Just airing in the UK and there's nil to say that hasn't been said about the awful background music and terrible dialogue.

A neighborhood watch scheme attended by women only. Only men around was the post guy, the security guard and the wimpey star actor.

The daughter and her friends look the same age as the mum.

Did no one really play this back and listen to the racket. Conversation between the leads impossible to hear completely.

Hour in the music is that loud I've started to notice other dumb things about the film.

Mum goes mad when the daughter receives a text at 10pm ? She's like 17/18 years old.

Daughter has one friend she never sees or speaks to?

Police guy is dumb and just blurts out information in an open forum.

New man does no work.

Just total dumbness all round.

I'm not sure what the 10 reviewers were watching but it certainly wasn't this movie.

Fairly interesting desparate housewives style mystery
phd_travel11 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
A rather plain single mom falls for the new hottie next door. He's supposed to be a psychiatrist - putting glasses on Trevor Donovan doesn't make him a convincing doctor. Someone seems against their blossoming romance but who is it? The crazy ex, the resentful daughter, the jealous realtor? The set up reminds a bit of Desperate Housewives. Their Neighborhood Watch meetings are an excuse to air grievances against each other. Helena Mattson as the realtor reminds of Nicolette Sheridan's character in DH - forward and beautiful. The ending is unconvincing and belabored. The long explanation feels very fake. Anyway she doesn't seem worth the effort let alone the homicides but someone had to do it..

OMG!
carnstabba-5567227 August 2019
Yes the sound is abominable like everyone else has said. But - so is the acting, the script (which fortunately you miss a lot of due to the music) the storyline, the set/scenery. There is absolutely nothing redeeming about this film. I only watched to the end as the plumber was fixing the boiler and I needed to be out of his way. Says it all.....

What's up with the sound? Trevor was great, but whomever directed and produced should never do it again.

Good movie but horrible audio and loud soundtrack
lmnclips22 October 2020
This movie was good, and the twist at the end was surprising and unexpected. But my only complaint is the music. It was so loud and overpowering to the point where I couldn't hear what the characters were saying. I thought it was an issue with the tv, but upon seeing other people's reviews here, I realized it was part of the movie. It's so infuriating when movies make the music so loud up to that point, the music should be about 50% of volume at least. Speaking of the other reviews, I noticed that most of them were made way before this movie premiered almost a week ago, then I realized that this movie was made all the way back in 2018, two years ago! Lately I noticed that LMN has been bringing back films that were made at least two or three years ago and calling it a "premire" and airing every Friday. I don't mind them doing this but they should air an ACTUAL brand new movie made this year once in a while.

Other than those complaints, this movie was nice and enjoyable. 7.5/10

The Ever Vigilant Neighbors
lavatch23 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This film could not make up its mind about anything, including its title. From "Neighborhood Watch" to "The Neighborhood Nightmare" to "Is There a Killer on My Street?", there was confusion from start to finish.

A major problem with the script was in too many ill-defined and unformed characters. A character who should be essential is Valerie Sims (or Valerie Hyde), the personal trainer of the protagonist Lindsay Porter. Valerie is ultimately the first murder victim, yet she has only had some brief dialogue early in the film.

Another major shortcoming was that the relationships lacked credibility and did not seem very wholesome. When the new neighbor, Dr. Stephen Lane, rushes into a romantic relationship with Lindsay, it didn't seem right for the daughter Nikki or for the audience.

An especially "icky" community was depicted. There was something unsavory about the busy-body and promiscuous Kat, as well as the officious security guard Barrett. The aptly named Shady Grove is a neighborhood where very few would discover comfort or security, let alone happiness.

Inaudible
mitchuk-732974 August 2020
The only thing that kept me guessing throught this film was what the characters were actually saying!? The music and background effects are ridiculously loud to the point that I thought it had to be some mistake that nobody noticed!!!

The only way you're going to be able to follow the plot is with subtitles, but it seems that even whoever was transcribing had the same problem as it just comes up with "Inaudible" in various places!

Shame really, it's not a bad film as far as channel 5 afternoon mystery thrillers go.

Background music
lovejoiie895 May 2022
Who's in Charge of the sounds and background music? FIRE THEM IMMEDIATELY. There was music on scenes where it shouldn't have been. Like is this a musical or a movie. Hard to follow the movie with all that darn noise. Fix it immediately and please don't do it again.

Average Who Dunnit
andrealaurenmaria20 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Good movie to play while doing other things. It actually did keep me guessing.

I mostly wanted to write this review because it made me so sad that no one seemed sad about Kat. Poor lonely floozy looking for love...but nobody loved her or even seemed sad. Did they forget she was still sitting there when the ambulance took Stephen away? Glad she treated the guard poorly...at least there's that.

I also wish they cast 'younger' daughters as they all looked the same age. Maybe that's just a compliment for the older actors. I've been on a movie binge on Tubi and starting to wonder if there are any younger actors out there because this funny mismatch seems to happen alot!

Entertaining tv movie
tomasctinoco11 July 2019
So many negative reviews for no reason. While this movie will never win any awards, it's a solid watch. The plot is weak and the writing is generic but the actors make the most of what they are given to work with. Keeps you guessing, sometimes in a good way and sometimes in a bad Way. Movie doesn't drag, has good pacing. Trevor Donovan is in it.

Dont believe the negative ratings....
michaelt-4141512 July 2020
When this movie gets going, its a corker of a who-done-it. And there's a twist in the tail that I for one, didn't see coming.
