It was okay.... kinda
AlexaStarr25 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
While the casting was amazing, the acting wasn't that great. I'm a huge fan of Leclerc, but she just wasn't very good in this show. The entire story was practically rewritten too. Of course it has the basic outline of the book, Owen's an artist, him and Auburn fall in love, Trey tries to marry Auburn, Emory, Lydia, AJ, etc. but besides that the book is completely different, and better. In the series they add and take out parts that don't really matter like how they add that Auburn is adopted and had a mental illness, I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that wasn't in the book. They also took out both target scenes, Harrison's, "fixing Owen's stuff", the gun scene, anytime that Owen walked her home, and the car ride where Auburn recorded Trey. They added in stuff, or tweaked things too. Hannah became a drug dealer, Emory became Auburn's best friend, Auburn works at a nursing home, Auburn forces Trey off of herself instead of Emory pulling a gun on him, everyone is around 4 years older, Owen-Cat was stuffed, and the one thing that made me the maddest, the fact that Owen drew before he got a box of supplies from Adam, which didn't even happen by the way, Owen just drew two hands then gave it to Adam with his own art supplies. Anyways, the show is good if you haven't read the book and don't intend on reading it. If you love the book and really want to watch the show, then go ahead, it's not that bad. That's only one persons opinion and the one I had was that the show could use a heck ton of work.

Great story
fearmontic12 January 2020
Love the story, LOVE the book but the main actress was almost unbearable to watch.... she was too much and not good. Loved the guy who played Owen. Too bad they couldn't have given the book a better execution, it deserves it. Hope they try Maybe Someday, November 9, or Ugly love.

It was an okay mini serie.
chris_ts26 April 2021
A mini serie with some romance and family drama. The acting of Katie Leclerc was bearable. Ryan Cooper was way better than her. However, they make a cute couple and I get it why they choose her for the lead.

I just want more!
sschafe4 April 2017
I read confess, it was my first book from this author. I was so excited to see it made into a TV series! I was so impressed! I am sad I watched them all in one sitting!! CONGRATS COLLEEN AND ALLLLL THE AUTHORS! <3 I am a big cry baby. I cried in the book and I cried in this TV series as well! Thank you Awestruck and Go90 for taking the chance on Confess, and I hope you turn more of her books into series. There is such a fun fan base of readers that would love to see more books, specially hers turned into series!

Love it!

Predictable in some moments, but very good played, very interesting story from the beginning to the end, very unusual situations with the artist man and the working mother... I love how everybody got what they deserved. Actors were super well chosen for their roles. Not too much drama or violence. Great film!

Very Impressive
dianeduffy-065335 April 2017
This movie was excellent. It's obvious that a great deal of effort was put forth in choosing the perfect actor/actress for each part. They were fabulous! I loved seeing the scenes of Los Angeles because California is my home state. The movie didn't deviate from the book like some tend to do. Last night, I sat down to watch one episode and ended up watching every episode until the wee hours of the morning. It was totally worth feeling like a zombie today. To say I was impressed with this movie, is an understatement. I absolutely loved it!

Really good but it differs from the book
I loved the series but it is very different from the book itself. The actors were great in this. I loved the plot, really tugged at my heart. But I recommend reading it first otherwise it will confuse you! I have a some concerns on this series. One, I don't understand having this as a mini series. Episodes are too short. It would have been great if this was stretched out. Two, the camera shakes too much throughout. Three, the first episode rushes. Lastly, the series completely changed a lot of elements. Some are minor but others changed the storyline significantly. All in all a great series but the quality of the story and view lacks.

Could a book to show be any more perfect?!
manvillen4 April 2017
Of course there were changes due to budget restrictions but nothing that made or break this excellent adaptation! Not only are the actors chosen to play these characters PERFECT but Colleen Hoover also made a cameo in episode 1! I seriously wish the would turn in to a longer show. THERE Wasn't ENOUGH! Excellent job Go90 and Awestruck!

Awful
aew-105 September 2019
Started on this as it has a rating of 8. I watched three episodes as they are only 20 minutes long, then gave up.

This is awful, like a Mills and Boon romance; nothing happens.

Poor acting, poor dialogue, vacuous characters. The cliches: the painter - young, handsome, ripped, rich but does not want to touch the money, rich dad. The female lead - vacuous, everything in her life is a problem; the friends - vacuous bimbos.

l_loberger5 April 2017
This is one of the best books by Colleen Hoover. I can't wait until Ugly Love is out. And I'm excited to see all the rest of her books come to film very soon! Thanks Colleen, you're the BEST! I credit the actors that you chose to portray your the people in the story line.

HAPPY READER/WATCHER HERE!!!

Uninspiring acting
dfvisser3 February 2019
Katie Leclerc is really lovely but one gets the feeling that she is trying too hard. There is this forced exuberance that isn't very convincing. I watched two episodes - hopefully it gets better...

Great show
Whimsynsolence17 November 2019
Great show. It has got it all, drama, romance, tragedy, conspiracy, family, moral values etc all in one season (7 odd episodes). It would be nicer if there were more intimate scenes between the main protagonists which could have been quite intense. Maybe thats why ppl prefer novels. But this is a good series.

great TV show
ssmyth-098286 April 2017
Depict the main plot from the book. Excellent work by everybody. Great entertainment. I binged watch all the seven episodes. Ryan Cooper is the perfect Owen Montgomery Gentry. Rocky Murphy is too hot to hate as Trey. Auburn is also perfectly portrayed . All the characters are greatly portrayed. I will be rereading the book again after watching all the episodes.

I'm sad to say I haven't read Confess yet, but I'm changing that like right now! Great job Colleen!

I love this rendition of the book Confess by Colleen Hoover!! I wish more books would do this. The main characters were amazing well known actors and acted to perfection. The opening scene made me tear up it was so heart felt and it was just the first 5 seconds!! I couldn't get enough of the movie that I watched it in a few hours all at once. I loved It!!!!

Disappointed
komalaqil3 September 2019
This tv show is a total fail as compared to the original book. Colleen has written the novel so beautifully and you guys have just ruined it. There is so much overacting done by both the main leads. Moreover, the wonderful moments that are depicted in the novel have also been altered and most of the scenes have been converted into pure mess. If you would have copied the exact storyline and scenes, then it could have become a blockbuster webseries.

Disappointing at best
ashnicgav8 September 2021
I'm convinced the high star reviews are from the cast members themselves. I was anticipating a little bit of a let down because the book is always better but even if I hadn't read the book first, this was miserable to get through. I only stuck it out with dissipating hope the whole time it would redeem itself. The most important aspects of the books are altered or completely left out, the acting is cringe worthy, and the plot line is so askew. No where near the masterpiece Colleen Hoover detailed in the book. I realize that there were probably working with a small budget but everything I fell in love with in this storyline was stomped on in this water down version of such a beautiful story. After ready 5 more CoHo books just this week I have high hopes that she holds out for a true production of her stories in the future.

Very capturing TV show (and book)
annaedholms22 December 2020
Really liked this one and I'm glad I very randomly put it on. Read the book a few months later and liked that one too. The book had some extra nuances but I definitely think they've done a great job of capturing the essence of it in the TV show. Now watched the show a second time 6 months after I first saw it and once again enjoyed, meaning I can definitely recommend.

Put this on your "to watch and to read" list OMG
janaro-772566 April 2017
Okay...if you have never read Colleen Hoover you MUST! do it now! Awestruck did an amazing job on this "series". The actors were perfect for their parts. I can't say enough about it to where anyone would understand You just have to watch it. I think considering the small budget it was a BIG success! Thank YOU Awestruck Thank you Colleen Hoover and thank YOU COHORTS! #cohortsunite

angelcraze884 April 2017
I've read a few of Colleen Hoover's novels, so I thought I would gave this a try, well the first 2 episodes were released early they weren't that great, but i thought i would give it another chance and watched the rest, well it was a real waste of time wasn't all that great the actors weren't that bad but the plot, dialog and story line was just horrible. I wish i could take back the time i wasted on this show and watched something else.

The tv show is better than the book
CeeBee8622 April 2018
So, I first watched the tv show and later found out that it was based on a book. Which I quickly got from the library and read it.

The tv show really surprised me, in a good way! As I didn't know the story before hand, I went in without expectations. I loved the sweetness of the show, the drama, the original storyline, the characters. It just made me happy. And a bit sad, but mostly it just made me happy!

It really makes you think; what would I confess if there would be something like this in my neighborhood. And, even if I could; would I?

The thing that bugged me in the book, which I'm glad they changed in the show, is the age of the characters. They just felt too young to me to have such a life experience (I get the first part though, with Auburn and Adam and all, at that point their ages felt right). So having them in their mid 20's made much more sense to me.

The show is just great. Just perfect as it is!

Poor representation of the book
alysonbiggs20 August 2022
I hate to be one of those who says "the book was better" but it truly was. They took away so many important scenes & they didn't develop the characters enough. Actress who plays Auburn was too goofy and expressive and it made everything feel cheesy. Was very hard to watch.
