DIE!
nogodnomasters13 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The film opens with a group of clowns who live at a motel near a gold mine. Some rednecks set the place on fire and the goldmine doesn't enter the story again. Years later, a group of young adults stays there, get stranded, and become fodder for killer klowns from inner space.

The premise isn't bad, but the acting and dialogue were a joke. They created characters and didn't know what to do with them. Joseph Kelly cannot write or direct.

Guide: F-word. Sex. Ugly butt crack nudity

A decent low budget clown movie.

While this movie is full of terrible acting and huge plot holes, it's still not as bad as the other reviewers say. It's a good story and is definitely worth watching if you like low budget horror.

So, I pushed myself to finish this...
iceman8886930 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The acting was almost all bad, as I had expected. Well, pretty much all bad. The clowns were easily the worst of the bad acting. There was a part where a clown was running for the door, a girl went to slam the door and somehow, it looked like at the last second she pulled back on the door like she was trying to let the clown in! LOL. They should have re-shot that scene.

The story idea really was not bad and it even had a nice atmosphere to it at one point. A very short point. Three guys and four girls. The big girl... bullies the guys... The guys basically end up becoming sacrifices for the girls. The girls ask the last and only surviving guy to go out and fix the battery in the camper, almost right after his other two friends are killed....lol? The "smart" girl finds a book and reads some random back story that makes little sense. This random back story causes them to run to some mines, thinking it will help them get out of their situation. Most of them die trying to do this venture. I was extremely bored and watched this to pass some time, but I cannot recommend this movie. It is not the worst movie I have ever seen, but it is pretty close.

horrible acting and filmed with either an old cell phone or a potato.
raynick29 July 2019
I was tricked into watching this because the good reviews on imdb. I'm not even sure why I didn't just turn it off..I guess I figured nothing could be this bad. I doubt there was a budget at all, just some people thrown together and filmed with a phone. My question is how did this get a 7.5 rating. There are very good movies that have good actors that only get a 5-6 rating.

PLEASE DONT EVER WATCH THIS
eggygeorge1 February 2020
There HAS to be some form of trolling going on here or paid reviews or literally every member of the cast and crew leaving positive reviews.

This film is shocking. Filmed on an old phone or home video camera. Acting is quite literally the worst I've ever seen. The guys even walk like they are acting. Please, please just don't waste your time.

Run away from "Clown Motel"!
pittstfannc129 June 2019
This film had a great concept but dose t deliver with a quality finished film. The acting is just ok at best, the kills are off screen or just terribly done with poor practical effects and cgi blood splatter. An absolute wast of life and my hard earned money!

Horrible
rmarsh22530 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The person who put a 10 on this knew too many specific dames especially the director so I assume this was given by the director. This movie really had nothing except the standard liberal arts degree from a community college. I could have give it a 2 if it would have at least had nudity but the closest you will get is a cooked ham with a hole in it. "OH SPOILER"

If Only I Could Give a Rating with a Negative Number...or Anything Lower than 1
soldage18 June 2020
Simply Put: Unwatchable. Here's a guide to understanding IMDB reviews: If all (or even a majority) of the GLOWING reviews have the same date (in this case, 4 August) then they were probably written by shills ("an accomplice of a hawker, gambler, or swindler who acts as an enthusiastic customer to entice or encourage others") in short, friends, relatives, actors or others involved in the flaming bag of a flick. If in doubt, look at the additional flicks reviewed by the reviewers who though this was a work of genius.odds are this is the only flick they ever rated.

Fun if slightly flawed creepy clown ghost effort
kannibalcorpsegrinder7 January 2020
Meeting together by chance, a bachelorette party and a group of amateur ghost hunters forced to stay at an abandoned clown motel realize they've been lead there as a trap to get killed by a group of malevolent, ghostly clowns for what happened to them years earlier and forces the group to find the truth behind their stay to get away alive.

This one was a solid enough indie effort. Among the film's better qualities here is the main setup that gives us a great group of characters to get behind. Told explicitly that the main clowns aren't anything to be feared and were a cheerful, peaceful group who wanted to be on their own, they're clearly the friendly and lovable kind of clowns in very short order. This then helps us sympathize with them easily when the jealous group ends up killing them by burning the motel down and setting off the kind of proper rampage later on which is a great plus for the film. This also goes along with the creepy and desolate look of the area. It's no surprise that a great deal of that comes from trading on the creepiness of clowns in general, as the lobby of the motel stuffed to the rafters with clown memorabilia and statues which give off an eerie vibe alone without the abject desolation of the motel. The changeover into the ghost clowns coming to get them, as the encounter in the motel room, the clowns springing the trap by the stranded car or the big action scene of them trying to escape inside the stalled RV while the clowns attempt to break into the vehicle. The ensuing chase through the grounds of the motel provides solid action, creepy stalking through the underground tunnels and some standout gore scenes in their brutal kills that get quite messy. These here provide the film with a lot to like about it. There are a few minor problems here. The biggest issue here is a general sense of nothing making any sense at all. There's nothing here about what caused the groups to get stranded at the motel or what they're doing there, nor why the clowns have the ability to get hurt like humans when they're supernatural beings who live on through a curse. Likewise, a scene where the motel itself seems to come alive through supernatural means in a blur of psychedelic waves that are never brought up again what they mean, and the marking found on one of their bodies is treated as a shock jump more than anything more serious. Finally, there's absolutely nothing about the finale which tends to jump to random conclusions and offer up nothing about what they mean or the connection to anything before finishing on a confusing and irritating tactic that fits with the confusion. The other real problem, which is one that shouldn't be held too much against the film, is the low-budget limitations that show up. The idea of shooting at the actual location during the day means there are obvious scares where the light outside changes between individual shots or creating a plane, flat look that's quite distracting. As well, the look-away during the kills to show select moments or just the aftermath shots feel like a cheat even though we do get enough gore in the other kills which shouldn't be that detrimental even if they are troublesome. The most problematic is at the end where the darkness in the underground tunnels which is way too dark to see what's going on and the shaking camera for the scenes are just utterly nauseating. These aren't really true flaws but should be held against the film.

Rated Unrated/R: Graphic Violence and Graphic Language.

Great 'Bad' movie.
future_release3 August 2019
Ok, from the start, I should admit to loving bad movies. ( I love great movies too, just so you know) I don't think you should watch a movie called 'Clown Motel' and then expect a work of cinematic genius. For me, the acting is terrible (mainly, though some exceptions). The writing is bad, the story is bizarre and the gore effects are ridiculously bad.

The story was no worse than some mainstream movies.

All that said, it was clear from the outset that this movie doesn't take itself seriously and also whatever your thoughts on the acting, the cast take their roles seriously even though it must have been a ball to make.

Certainly not the worst movie I've seen and definitely one of the best bad movies I've watched.

Remastered with a sweet potato

About 20 minutes into it I started punching myself in the nuts. I could crap a better clown movie. Seriously how did Ari Lehman manage to not say "I was the first Jason" every 5 minutes.

Horrendous
mikedegroot1 August 2019
I'll keep this one short and sweet. It's bad. Really bad. Some the worst acting I've ever seen. A nonsensical story. Horrible dialogue. Piss poor effects. Seriously cringeworthy jokes. Just a complete mess. I only rate movies a 1 star if they're essentially broken so I'm giving this one a generous 2/10

Avoid like the plague
TCortese836118 August 2019
I don't mind bad horror movies, but this one fails on just about every level. I am a total loss as to how this is at a 6.6 and am left believing that the ratings are from associates of those involved in the movie's creation, if not down right purchased.

Clearly the creators were going for "so bad, its good", but what they ended up with was "so bad, why did they even bother?".

Every single person who contributed to the making of this nightmare should be completely ashamed of their actions and immediately go choose a different career.

Please do not pay to watch this, as it will only encourage the makers and contribute to the decline of quality bad horror.

I'd advise that anyone who had any hand in constructing this monstrosity, no matter how small, to sit through it again (if they can) and then go take a good long look in the mirror while thinking about what they have done. Are you proud of yourselves? You shouldn't be. Shame. On. You.

Fun exercise... enter into the 9 and 10 stars review and try to count how many of them happens to evaluate only this movie.

First scene - good scenery but camera man already cuts the top of the heads

I can stomach a lot in a low budget horror flick but even I have my limits. This film exceeded them. I could not make it through the last half hour of this towering heap of terrible. I would rather be tickled with electric cattle prods than watch another 5 minutes.

For god's sake, RUN!

Garbage
sofia_stenroos8 August 2019
I was tricked by the high rating here and thought: Hey, let's give it a try.

I should've read the reviews first. Don't bother watching since the acting, editing and all script is just the worst garbage I've ever seen. It's bad. Really bad. It's worse than a high school production of a musical.

I wasted money I can't get back. Boo!

Ok, some people like clowns and I assume many reviews are from kickstart backers, but I wonder how a movie filmed like this can get a 7

Horrible acting and very oddly filmed, weird angles just for the sake of changing the scene perspective.
icarop3 August 2019
This movie does not deserve the rating that it had. I couldn't watch more than 10 minutes of movie which is very rare for me considering I am the type of person that likes to finish what starts.

Wow a movie filmed with a potato 🥔 and bad actors. Clown Motel is a great film!
freaksofhhn4 August 2019
This must be the first film using Idaho potato technology. I also don't know what movie people were watching to say bad acting. Clown Motel has a little bit of everything. It has some amazing kill scenes, suspense, great actors, and leaves you wanting a sequel. Don't believe all low ratings for Clown Motel watch it yourself and determine your own feelings. If you do or don't like clowns you will love this film. For a low budget film it turned out amazing. Only the freshest potatoes were used to make this film. Always remember to support independent films.

Decent Campy Clown Flick
Vanindel-197612 July 2020
Low-budget film with solid acting. Not so much scary as just light gore. I found some of the clown characters to be pretty amusing. The storyline moves along pretty good in the beginning, then kind of stalls. The ending wrapped up to quick for my taste--with little explanation. But, overall I enjoyed it. Don't expect too much and you'll enjoy it too. Also, it was great seeing the actual hotel, and the cemetary and surroundings.

disgusting, senseless violence

I thought it would be interesting to watch this film where I have visited Tonopah several times and have stayed at the clown motel, but this film was pure trash. Totally disgusting and senseless violence. Not worth a rating of 1.

I think I'm some kinda masochist for putting myself through this. Warning: Spoilers
This film ......this film .....ugh. It's bad , it's really ,really bad . I read the reviews , I was warned , I didn't pay attention , I just had to step into this minefield of a movie. But seriously unless you don't mind watching bad films for some sort of ironic purpose , anyone watching to enjoy a good horror movie just avoid this at all cost. Now for some details . This film was shot at the real Clown Motel in Nevada, that is adjacent to an old century and a half cemetery , near an old mine , in a town whose prior inhabitants where nearly wiped out by a mysterious plague , where the whole place has a reputation of being very haunted. With all that said the history of the location just writes itself , but no , the film makers just rolled with their horribly inept script themselves. For one the film has the hotel being previously inhabited by clowns that choose to live apart from sociaty like they were Amish or something . Then get killed by rednecks for some gold in the mine subplot that never gets revisited. Now some girls making one last round of partying before their best friend gets married and a group of low budget wannabe ghost hunters get stranded at said motel. The low production values add nothing to this film as well as the clown ghost not being scary at all , except for the pig clown that has intercourse with a canned ham and then rapes a man , didn't expect that, nor should I. With the history of the filming locations this could have been in the hands of a talented writer a totally different and better story ,but the filmmakers lacked vision and talent , and common sense.
