The movie feels like it was written with too little perspective on the events it was trying to depict. Throughout the love story, we see cut-aways to interviews and fantasy sequences that only serve to detract from the plot in their lack humor and insight; basically just beating us over the head with what's happening.

A Colorful & Honest Love Story

Saw this movie last night with my lady. Really enjoyed it! Easy to put yourself in the shoes of these characters. We can all relate to the experience of being really into some one who may not be that into you (or the other way around). There is an artistic touch to the way this story is told that can't be ignored. Excited to see what Ann Lupo does next.

Refreshingly Creative, A Repeat Watch

Ann managed to take one of a universal topic, and put her own iconic twist on it, through clever story-telling and some innovating, super crafty technique.

The whole film feels honest, and yet fun, despite the heaviness of the theme.

This was one of my favorite films of 2018, and I'll definitely continue to stream it.

I loved this little indie. It's so immediate, fresh, and honest, while it takes risks playing with time, fantasy, and even a blend of docu-narrative. Really refreshing, funny, and rewatchable.

Honest, refreshing, stylistically interesting rom-com for 2019

The film is honest and optimistic, where other films with the same theme tend to wallow in the deeps of human suffering. Writer/director/producer Ann Lupo found a way to accomplish what I think I've only seen Orson Welles do - star, write, direct, and tell her own story with an honesty that often becomes harder to find the more hands touch a piece of art. Because of the single-point-of-contact the viewer has with the story itself, it is as clear as day.

Jaunty and fun with creative stylistic choices that could be at home in a Coen brothers movie (Big Lebowski maybe?), that only add to the enjoyment. This movie is worth seeing.

I related and laughed my ass off! Showed this movie to many of my friends and family and we all laughed at ourselves and told stories of unrequited love. We really enjoyed it. So much respect to Ms Lupo!

Honest and Fun

I truly enjoyed this film. It is the most honest depiction of what most young and not so-young women's brains go through when meeting "The One". Ann and the cast did a terrific job at taking the audience through a fun journey. A must see.

Amazing work from a first time director. Visually imaginative, compelling story arc, great performances. Subverts expectations while exploring tried and true themes. And the occasional dark turn is all the more powerful in the way it's contrasted with fantasy and fun.

This masterpiece really moved me by creating a unique and deep connection with the characters, through a captivating scenario, outstanding editing skills and a unique story telling. I loved every moment of it and could not get enough by the end of it! The different emotions portrayed throughout this movie are balanced perfectly and really help you immerse yourself in the story. I absolutely loved it!

A MUST SEE!!

This movie is unlike any other Rom-Com I've seen before. The mix of narrative and documentary styles makes it so unique. In Reality also has the perfect balance humor and emotional scenes. It's a story everyone can relate to. I love all of the theatrical qualities that Ann brought to the table. I highly recommend this movie.

Firstly, let me just say (write), "the music is excellent!" The perfect sinew to bind 'motion picture' and 'sound'. I think "In Reality" is what FILM is-and perhaps, ought to be. Honest, relatable.
