Water games

When the show leaves behind the silly 'mind control' story-line and centers on good old cat & mouse games, it still delivers thrills and enjoyment to spare. Luckily for us, we don't get much more 'plot' development (if you can call that thing about 'mind control' plot) and the episode centers on the Nathan James vs. Greek ships showdown.

And the show delivers. Both crews (Chandler & Co. vs. Lucia) try to outsmart each other all through the forty minutes of the episode. Some ideas are less well developed than others, but in general, all the tactical games, hiding and trying to foresee the other make for good entertainment. And much needed banter between characters (more Slattery and Chandle teaming together, please).

If just all the episodes could be more like this...

Episode 409

Warning: Spoilers
It is still a little ridiculous that the Greek Navy is competing with the US Navy, but they've managed to make this a fun storyline. You rarely see the Greeks featured on TV, so it was good to see a country like that featured, even if it was negatively.

This has been an up and down season, but when you get action like this all is forgiven.

Finally Surface Warfare
dncorp8 October 2017
Warning: Spoilers
After how many Episodes finally there is some Surface Warfare.

Of course the U.S.S. Nathan James is going to win, against Three Greek Warships or the Series would End. Regardless of the fact that the Three Greek Warships would have been equipped with State of the Art Technology from the U.S., possibly greater than what the U.S.S. Nathan James has.

Most "Modern" Warships have a large amount of Electronic Counter Measures, as well as Physical Counter Measures to prevent being hit by Anti Ship Missiles.

Greek warship F469 has no bow wake, meaning was not even moving, before torpedo hit, staying still is not how Surface Warfare is conducted especially Destroyers. Speed and Maneuverability is what a Destroyer is all about.

A Veteran Helicopter Pilot would have flown feet off the water to avoid being detected by the Enemy Ships targeting radar.

Not convincing

Warning: Spoilers
The show prepared you for a decent battle to take place between the US and the three greek ships. However, the battle itself is a bit ridiculous. Two out of three ships are destroyed in ways that would fit a comedy better than an action movie. The first greek ship is rushed by a rhid boat carrying explosives and approaches completely undetected (!!!) a moving warship (although it is shown as stationary in the movie) in clear weather conditions. It is hard to believe that any vessel would approach a warship like that.

The second ship is destroyed by torpedoes because of sailing in a straight line while engaged i a battle (which would never happen).

This series were never meant to be realistic of course, but in previous seasons they always found a clever and convincing way to show these battles as instense and difficult. In this case, it seems like a walk in the park to destroy two of three ships, which was a bit annoying for those who expected a real battle.

In addition, they could find one or two more native greek speakers, as the majority of greek dialogues doesn't make any sense.
