One of the silliest, most head-scratching, unintentionally funny (and sometimes insulting), but also quite entertaining series is back. Yes, "The Last Ship" strikes again, with some of the most un-Spanish people ever, strange accents and nonsensical plot developments abound.

There is a new threat (this time a virus that attacks food instead of humans) and the Nathan James and its crew are in the middle of it (because, they were just bored). Staying in the Spanish base of Rota, the crew of the Nathan James is trying to find some seeds that will save humanity, but things will turn sour pretty fast.

Tom Chandler, though, is nowhere to be found, enjoying a retirement with yet another younger woman, Sasha Cooper probably too old for him (anyway...). There are some shady characters in the Greece he is living in, and you can see from a mile away what is going to happen.

Ironically enough, as always with this series, even if the accents are 'strange' and some people seem to have wandered in from the wrong set (that Spanish boy and the Spanish guard suspects number one and two), it all is entertaining enough. The new threat keeps things interesting (something the show needed, the story-line of the old virus just couldn't be stretched longer) and we already know things are going to keep blowing up.

Now, will the action and the characters' interactions help us forget all the gross problems of the series with geography? We will see what this season has on offer... For now, good enough.

Episode 401

Warning: Spoilers
This episode took a little while to get going despite their attempt at an action-packed opening scene, but once things picked up it was the same Last Ship we all know and love.

I am not sure how long they could have the virus attack food and create drama out of that when we know eventually they'll find the immune seeds, but I am excited for the prospect of the season if that is the main quest.

A "Greek" island that is not a Greek island...
nkourouklis23 August 2017
Warning: Spoilers
A "Greek" island that definitely doesn't look like a Greek island, with "Greek" citizens that speak perfectly the English language but their "Greeks" are with an American accent, they are named "Moose" (there is no such Greek name) or "Giorgio" (that's an Italian, not a Greek name) or "Yaya" (that means grandmother or old lady in Greek), they always say "Opa!" (we don't use that much this expression, "opa!" is for the foreigners mostly a funny thing about the Greeks), they dance Greek dances like the foreigner tourists at the Greek islands... Why it has to be so fake????

Somebody Needs to Go Look at a Map
dncorp21 August 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Having been there before, U.S. Navy Ships departing from Rota Spain routinely go to Barcelona, NEVER towards unstable Algeria.

From Barcelona Spain, they then say within visual range of the land to the North, head toward Corsica, from Corsica they routinely go to U.S. Navy Base Naples for Resupply, and Port of Call. Then they go around Sicily to Southern Greece. From North of Crete they then head south to the Suez Canal.

THE REASON THIS ROUTE IS TAKEN IS BECAUSE OF A POSSIBILITY OF LONG RANGE LAND BASED ANTI SHIP MISSILES. Especially after Democrat President Obama's Overthrow of U.S. Ally President Gaddaffi, with the U.S. Ally Libyan Anti Ship Missiles and Decades of Weapons at Hight Razma Benghazi Libya then falling into the hands of the Democrat President Obama Non Libyan "Libyan Rebels" of Al Quada's Ansar Al Shariah. Ansar Al Shariah after becoming the Government of Libya then renamed themselves Islamic State Libya. They then attacked U.S. Ally French Algeria, successfully attacked U.S. Ally Tunisia and overran the evacuated U.S. Embassy, both the U.S. Embassy Tunisia and Sudan were evacuated September 17, 2012. Democrat President Obama's Supported "Islamic Democracy Movement Tunisia" then renamed themselves Islamic State Tunisia.

Take a guess why I know the details above. We were temporarily attached to U.S. AFRICOM at that time. Previously, I had been on one of the long ones from USACOM (previously U.S. Navy Atlantic Command) to USN Bahrain The Missiles fired at the Nathan James looked like short range Ground to Ground Unguided Rockets, not Guided Anti Ship Missiles. The possibility of hitting a ship with a Unguided Ground to Ground Rocket is very small.
