Fantastic start to the season
onelovemustsurvive13 July 2017
A wonderful start to the 7th season of the show. Mike and Harvey are back in action together and whilst the legal drama may start off slowly, the interpersonal relationships are focused on immediately. The company has been struggling ever since Jessica left, but that doesn't mean they'll be off their game for long. Every single one of the cast gave powerful performances and i'm thankful the show hasn't lost its edge. I hope that this level of intensity, lovely soundtrack, and great performances will not diminish throughout the course of the season. A couple of 'F-bombs' are thrown in there for a change, and they are implemented perfectly. If you are considering going back and catching up with the show, I strongly advise you do.

Strong Beginning to the season but with fundamental deficiencies
pokharshini20 July 2017
The characters show unreasonable behavior and the episode does not pick up smoothly from where it had left off in the 6th season. There are some shocking developments in Pearson Spectre Litt, violating the tradition which was usually followed. However, the episode has the classic Suits sophistication. Harvey faces the challenges of being the new managing partner, and faces them head on. More subtlety and creativity was expected, but a strong start to the season!

Sets the Table with Broken Dishes
Hitchcoc7 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Guess it's going to be okay. With all that has happened and with Mike back in the game, sharing his time between the big boys and the not-so-big boys (or girls, if you must), they need to get things rolling again. Most of this episode is contrived to get Harvey back on his horse and run the company. He doubts himself because he is caught in the chaos (of course, there isn't a person in this firm who shows a little gratitude--Mike being the worst). What happens with Donna is ridiculous. In anticipation of this, the writers could have had her secretly working toward a degree. But a senior partner? These are the highest positions in the firm--the name attorneys! She could have a high position without the name. But since this is TV it doesn't matter. After being rejected by his fiancee, Louise takes over the associates and brutalizes them. Who could have seen that, right? The deal Mike makes with Harvey to split his time is purely Hollywood. I suppose the clinic will become quite an entity in the future. Oh, and then we have the psychiatrist/fashion model who is Harvey's reward for being a good boy.

Steamy pile of crap...(or mud, if you are into Louis)
Dr_Sagan13 July 2017
OK. I pressed the FF button at least five times in this. What a pointless first episode for the season...The series is now officially pointless...

You can check, if you want, my review for the first episode of the previous season where I wrote "...the writers just don't know what to do..." Well, in this episode, creator/writer Aaron Korsh, seems to made up his mind on what to do with his show, but he just doesn't cut through...

He obviously tries some sort of REBOOT after the departure of Gina Torres (who there is a chance she gets her own show as Jessica) by upgrading EVERYONE to a new role including ...Donna! Yet, the dynamic of the 5 main characters remains EXACTLY the same! The cast now feels really small. Inadequate and unimpressive. And the dialog between them boring and purposeless. You have heard it a hundred times before.

Also there is no "villain" or an opponent of some sort or any other interesting character to have a true dramatic conflict and suspense. There is no Daniel Hardman, Sean Cahill, or Anita Gibbs. No Tony Gionopoulos or Charles Forstman ...Hell... not even Scotty! Suits is now a shadow of itself, with the 5 main characters patting on each others back and feeling sorry after some (unnecessary?) yelling.

IMDb doesn't offer a Zero grade, but I wouldn't put a "0" to this episode. It deserves more like "1" because I smiled when Harvey said to Mike "Besides, I haven't even told you the best part yet." and Mike responded "You only got two weeks to live?" !!! Honestly I wouldn't mind if "Suits" had only 2 weeks to live too.

Humorous, Funny, Clever... Suits back to its best
turbospinecho16 July 2017
Last season lost its sense of direction. This feels like the reigns have been pulled back in and that some of the best attractants that drew us in in the first place, are now back at work.

The writing, humour, bromance between Mike and Harvey and Louis being.... well, Louis are back. I thought Suits was loosing its lustre, but if they can now tie in the drama and suspense of past episodes they are back. Back with a vengeance and back to stay!

What a way to begin a season!
I have been waiting for this episode since the last one aired and I could not have been more satisfied!

The whole season 6 was kinda all over the place as far a structure goes for Pearson Specter Litt with the whole Mike thing and an order needed to be set. This episode was perfect in balancing all this and more!

Completely satisfied and can't wait for the next one!

Promising start for the new season
enterzec31 July 2017
When we last left of Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) and Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams), they were back to working together and that brought a lot of hope of the good old day of Suits. The first few three season were gold and season 4-6 were a little up and down. This episode did was a really solid start for the season, but it definitely wasn't without some bad parts.

The relationship between Harvey and Paula (Christina Cole) in this episode felt a little forced but hopefully it will seem more naturally in later episodes. Donna (Sarah Rafferty) wasn't Donna in this episode, it felt unreasonable for her to ask for Senior Partner and it just feels like this is the writers way of replacing Jessica, they want to replace her with Donna. Harvey really has a lot of on his plate in this episode. He and Mike have their case, he has to take control of the firm while Donna is also asking for a seat at the table. He is also trying to make things work with the former therapist Paula.

Donna is to busy wanting her place at the table to really guide Harvey and instead Mike has to step and put Harvey on the right track and make him step up to take over for Jessica. Mike himself has just left the clinic and is struggling with moral dilemmas and former colleagues. Overall a solid start for season 7 and the banter at the end between Mike and Donna was pretty great.

Score: 6/10 (Solid)

Not a good start!!
Just-A-Girl-1419 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
If you read my review of the previous episode you'll see I was worried about Donna becoming a bigger part of the show. She said she wanted more and I wasn't sure what it meant but I knew it wasn't good. What didn't cross my mind is that she'll ask Harvey to become a senior partner!!! When she said that, I almost fell off the couch. Seriously?!?! So the legal secretary is now senior partner? Are you kidding me? That's ridiculous! Maybe she should just replace Jessica as managing partner. What exactly is she going to do as senior partner? It's one thing to let Mike pretend to be an associate when he actually knows the law but what would be the role of the former secretary who almost went to jail because she didn't even know it's illegal to pretend to be a government agent? What would she do all day? Babysit for Louis from a stronger position? And what exactly are they going to tell the world? First we hired a fraud, then made the secretary a senior partner and now we are considering making the janitor our spokesman? Who is ever going to take them seriously?? Sorry, but that ridiculous! It's not a small firm in some rural town, it's New York City! I just can't believe they went through with that idea!

Add to that the fact that they're repeating themselves for the millionth time. Louis is hurt so he's taking it out on everyone (what else's new?!), Rachel/Gretchen/Donna trying to calm him down, Harvey can't step up so he goes looking for his old shrink, everyone is scolding each other, Oliver blaming Mike for not caring... I was hoping to see something new. Everyone wanted to see Harvey and Mike back together but I was hoping to see some more substance. Now Mike is in Harvey's old office and Harvey is going to replace Jessica. The problem with that is that Harvey is not ready! Louis was right, no way Jessica would have made Donna a senior partner. It laughable!

I like that they care about each other, I like that they are loyal, I like that they are family to one another but that doesn't mean they can just do whatever. I wasn't sure what they were going to do. I actually thought it was a good idea when Rachel's father offered them a merger (he could have replaced Jessica) but I didn't think they are going to become a joke. I don't know what's coming next but this is not a good start!

loses credibility
gbryl21 October 2017
One of the best features of the show was that it did quite an accurate portrayal of the legal environment, even if some minute details were altered or omitted.

But Donna's request to be a senior partner is simply laughable and makes the show lose all credibility. Any Joe Blow is aware that a non-lawyer cannot be a partner in a law firm, or even simply in partnership with a lawyer. This is true in all jurisdictions (except possibly DC) and is common knowledge. I asked my friends, and all agreed that a non-lawyer as a law firm partner simply doesn't pass the smell test, regardless of one's knowledge of the legal profession.

The show thus loses all credibility when not only Donna asks, but Harvey accepts (!) her request for senior partnership. This is ludicrous.

The show might as well have a native and citizen of Iraq become a newly elected U.S. President!

The writers are not only running out of ideas but are also being sloppy about elementary legal issues, such as a lawyer/nonlawyer partnership. Should have ended it on Season 6.

Questions
mbhbrh20 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I'm halfway through the episode and have questions.

1. How the hell does Donna have $500k for a buy in? I mean.... I'm sure she's good with money (she wears a different dress every day, just like Jessica), but, and no offense, she's a legal secretary. Harvey must REALLY supplement her salary.

2. Why doesn't Rachel EVER wear color? Occasionally she'll wear a blue shirt with her skirt, but it's mostly black, white, gray, or that gray/blue color. Put her in royal blue! Or purple! Or red!

3. I liked the Mike/Harvey banter this episode. It's like the original season days.

4. Poor Louis. But Gretchen is a wonderful add to the cast.

Bs drama
alexglimbergwindh23 October 2021
This episodes follows the great ending episode of season 6.

Now they throw bs character drama at us to have something to do. Donna takes four steps back in her character development with her childish understanding of the process o her work.

The director and writes does the stereotypical "woman doesn't feel respected" thing and messes with the levels of our characters.

Rehearsing old drama
alexglimbergwindh23 October 2021
They're adding old drama back to clever characters and make them dumb. Donna is acting like an idiot and they give mike his ego problem back and Louis is screwed up. Again.

This is not a good idea. It's hard to follow the great ending of season 6. But this. Is weak.
