Deadpool & Wolverine (2024)
Same old Cameos and shallow jokes.
This movie is only a bunch of shallow references, nostalgia baiting and bad jokes. Xmen the last stand has more realistic and dark fight scenes than this movie. This movie is toooo clean. Their suits magically heal. Disney and Marvel has lost it.
Even Wolverine with original Deadpool was better at TIMES.
I expected less silly and shallow jokes. Expected some more clever jokes considering the INFINITE potential they had.. This is no way home but with Deadpool.
Our world is becoming "memes over everything". And it's sad considering the talent behind and in front of the camera.. It's such a shame. It's a semi fun ride. But lost Potential.
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (2024)
Worst of the monster movies.
This cinematic disaster is the worst of the monster films. Why? Bad cinematography. Bad color grading. Overall poor visuals. The fight scenes are lazy and you can't even dream of comparing them to Godzilla vs Kong. The human element of this film is so try hard and cliche it makes me feel sad for this era of film making. Either make a monster movie with human side characters or at least introduce Looney Toons, because they would fit better with the writing.
I do like the concept of Super saiyan rose Godzilla - but it was so rushed and poorly explained compared to the epic moment of Godzilla king of the monsters.
People's lack of attention spans and quality drives movies towards being this way.
Sad day for movie fans and godzilla fans.
David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived (2023)
Very touching documentary
A very touching documentary that makes you respect stuntmen a whole lot more.
You never think about how many stuntmen actually do all the dangerous stuff you see in screen in this day of cig animations. The amount of skill, training and effort that takes to get this level of fitness and competence.
Imagine being an actor earning millions, and stuntmen that risk their lives to make said actors look cool and earn all those millions of dollars, make such a little cut of all of it. They are very under-appreciated and I wonder what we could do to improve their standards of reward.
Stuntmen are awesome.
Blue Beetle (2023)
James Gunn is the wrong man
This whole movie feels like, the only reason you should like and care about the characters is because they are Mexicans. Oh look how funny Mexicans are. Oh look how family oriented Mexicans are. Oh look how unfairly Mexicans are treated by all the white people.
That also another thing - the villain of the story, the femme fatal, the trickster, the dictator, is of course evil... Just evil. Mostly her white privilege is in focus regarding how she treats her staff off other ethnicities. You know... Older Ritch white people are evil because they're just evil.
I don't really know what guidance James Gunn and Peter brings. But it isn't good at all. This movie shows us the same shallow boring formula marvel has forced on us for years. Dramatic moments destroyed by stupid silly jokes and there's no real continuity between how the characters act and their moral compass.
Visually I do like it. It's bright, it's colorful and I like the cinematography. At least that is good.
But in between all of the namedropping, character hopping and floor mopping, to show that this movie is in fact, part of a larger universe with big heroes there's a good idea if a film. We just don't get to see it.
We, the audience, are expected to care and be invested just because the characters are Mexican. That's the defining trait of the main family. Not their personalities. No. Their ethnicities makes them who they are apparently and that's not worth paying a ticket for. These behaviors is what you can see online in stereotypical memes.
John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023)
"and then"
As Matt stone and Trey Parker would say "And then this happens"
This whole movie is a bunch of "and then"
Cool set scenes. Cool action. But everything just happens. HOW? Oh he's John wick. Sure. He just goes around the world with a bounty on his head when he could barely deal with being chased in new York. Oh he needs to go xyz.. And he just shows up.
Hmm this thing happens...and then.
I love the cinematography. I love the action. But this movie has such a weak plot and story... Such a snoozefest between the explosions. I hate to say that because I loved the other 3. 2nd was the best.
There are so many moments he should have been killed by pure amateur ish behaviour and....then he survives. I won't spoil the end though
But this movie is "wanna be cool" only.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023)
Goofy movieb with bad cgi and writing
Now the first guardians of the galaxy was a great mix of action, drama and comedy. The second one felt like a cheap copy and this one..... Is the same. Cgi is looking really goofy, the character drama is so middle school and the dialogs are embarrassing.
Anytime a moment turns serious or heartfelt someone ruins it with a dumb comment. It's idiotic. I don't care about these characters and the movie doesn't do it either. They try to bring some dark moments with rocket but of course they ruin that too with jokes and a horrible tune of voice.
This isn't cinema. It's a bad cartoon made into a live action film.
Oppenheimer (2023)
Nolan fails
Nolan fails at a very basic but important technique in film. "SHOW, don't tell".
They do a lot of talking in this film about the decisions, actions and the results of what goes on in the film - but what makes the audience relate to what's going on unless you actually show the danger and the horror? Is this film made to make you think? Then they need to deliver properly. People get a HINT of the danger of the bomb but merely do clever politics around it. I'm quite disappointed in such a slow burn of a movie. What's more interesting? SEEING the results of the characters or just hearing about them in fast cuts? You decide. I love long discussions too and mindplay.
Actors are great.. Cinematography is great. Score is great and the story is fantastic. The execution is just lazy and low budget.
Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One (2023)
What a thrill!
Film opens up with great suspense. Have you on the edge of the seat thinking "what's gonna happen?"
One thing I appreciate from the start is the musical score. Fanstatic, bombastic and classic. Really elevates the mood of every scene.
The cinematography, the action and of course the actors are just great. Haley Atwell is brilliant and her chemistry with Tom cruise/Ethan Hunt. I like that they bring the thief part back from mission impossible 2. Bringing in someone out of the spy/killer world for a new sense of danger and excitement and character growth.
The only thing I don't like is that this is a part 1. Because it feels like a setup while we wait for the 2nd. But the movie is really tight. The stunts are great and it's surprising people don't understand how important these kinds of movies are in this cgi horrible woke world we live in.
Tom cruise and christopher Macquarie are legends.
Thanks for entertaining us.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022)
Extremely boring
First and foremost is like to say that the send of to Chadwick was beautifully done. Emotional.
But the rest of the movie was a pure cringe fest of slapstick one liners, light touches of racism and apparently jokes that you only can find funny if belong to a certain demographic.
This movie treats its villain like a joke. The horrible fight scenes (especially at the end) looks like a school project in choreography and cinematography.
The editing and dialog is pretty weird as well throughout the film.
There's a few new characters that are too, born geniuses and lack any new personality traits compare to what we have gotten the last... 10 years.
Cliche. Dull. Boring and not very pleasing visually. Is what I can say about this film.
Marvel doesn't care anymore because they know they are gonna get all the money either way.
The Last of Us: Long, Long Time (2023)
Waste of time
Was it a beautiful episode? Sure. But I have zero interest in dedicating 1 hour to a love story between side characters when there is SO MUCH MORE to the story in the game. And of course I'm talking about the story affecting Joel and Ellie.
The episode was well done for what it was but doesn't fit the series. It killed momemtun and we didn't get to see cool action scenes. Dialogue between the characters interacting with Bill.
There's even a scene in this episode that caters to action, but it was so lazily done. Bill was unprepared and it was over in a minute with no stakes at all.
The only thing I feel is that they took an hour away from us when they could have built upon Joel, the action or the relationship with Joel, ellie and Bill.
The Last of Us (2023)
Started brilliantly - ended up in a snoozefest
First two episodes started out amazing and I was hooked. I don't like zombie shows but this caught me.
Then it went downhill. Not in production quality or acting. But how they decided to tell the story. Now on episode 7 - the side characters has far more character chemistry and development than the main two characters. I don't care about the same gender relationships, that's hinted in the game. What I do care about is that they are trying to take the magic of breaking bad - being able to have a slow pacing and a slow build up to the action - but the last of us fails miserably. It's just slow. It's boring. The pacing is way off. I don't feel the main characters. Bella Ramseys character has three modes. 1. Swear mode. 2. Stuck up mode. 3. Reaction mode. She has zero personality and Joel... It's hinted that he's an absolutely maniac and a bad ass.... But the few, few things we see him do... Are not in any way extraordinary to give him that reputation.
Some characters are new and are horribly miscast. I'm talking about Rose from 2 and a half men. I don't even remember her characters name. What the....
The reunion with Tommy was heartbreakingly flat.
There is so much greatness from the game and they literally decided to make it worse. Not different - but worse.
Absolutely loved the first two episodes and haven't been so hyped since breaking bad or the dark knight.
So it starts amazing - then it's a slow, slow, slow process of side characters that show up and seem important. Then they die asap from 2 min of action.
It's just a poor adaption and after re-watching the game play it feels like empty virtue signaling and money problems driving this show..... How can you have so little things going on in a zombie human apoclapyse...
Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (2022)
Sadly they changed animation...
The first thing I noticed was how they had changed the animation. I guess some people like it. But the choppy and poorly detailed animation style made famous by into the spider verse has made its mark. But there is quality here too visually.
The annoying part: it's a bit too jokey. I know it's a kids movie but it doesn't need to be a joke like you snap a finger. The dog? He's too annoying and over the top. I guess for contrast.... So that's the bad part.
The good part? Wonderful voice acting through and through. Great soundtrack and the best of all, a great villain! They spared no expense making the antagonist in this movie.
Antonio Banderas is a legend! He is.... Puss in boots!
Avatar: The Way of Water (2022)
Pretty flat sequel
Good visuals but it felt like watching the exact same movie.... Just underwater.
I did like the family relations and conflict.
There are certain villains that you're like "really? You're doing THAT?" but hey....
People said the first movie was extremely basic and simple - this is even more basic when it comes to the story.
You're going to see this film for the visuals and the 3d. The rest is pretty much so familiar you can just see the first one again and pretense they are underwater.
What I really liked was how they introduced the under water creatures. Especially the main one. Hope you enjoy this going to the theater.
Don't drink anything!
Lightyear (2022)
Wrongfully hated
The movie is good. Beautiful animations and good voice actors.
Story is good and the plot with real importance (interstellar)
People are just flipping out because bandwagon. I don't like Disney too much but the hate is falsely based.
Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
Batman & Robin.....
If I want to watch a silly super hero movie I'll watch batman and Robin. That's enough.
This is some weird combination of the worst from Adam Sandler and the best from Marvel (make of that what you want)
They absolutely trash the characters and their archs of the Mcu for cheap laughs. You might chuckle but it feels stupid afterwards.
Christian bale is goat though. Sadly they ruined Thor like they did Hulk... Urgh.
The Road to El Dorado (2000)
Beautiful cinematography
Beautiful animations and scenery. Beats most things we see today. How to train your dragon 2 was equally good in how it presented the scenes.
The story. It's pretty straightforward and engaging. Characters are fun and relatable.
How I Met Your Father (2022)
So Woke and liberal it lacks character and edge
Want to see a show where you don't really risk offending any group while constantly throw in verbal references to modern topics and trends?....... Then this show is for you. Because it's all it has.
Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
The real cinema experience!
If there's any movie that deserves to be seen in the theaters with big screens and booming speakers. It's :Top Gun Maverick.
One of my best experiences in years!
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)
Cut to shreds - predictable and.. Marvel
I'm glad Sam Raimi did this. But it's easy to spot it still has to follow marvel formula.
The movie has been cut and it shows. Everything just runs by and the scenes don't take effect until we rush into the next. Damn studios that shorten length of the movie
You notice it in the weak, hasty dialog. The on the nose comments. Endless jokes in the middle of a moment. Lack of natural exposition and the movie carries on like a clarity for everyone - I did find the phasing a bit weird and character actions the same. But it's an interesting movie and marvel's best visually since... Iron man 1 era? Effects are good but the scary moments are ruined by how they are placed there to be... Scary and not natural.
The Northman (2022)
Long and boring
My impression of this film is that they shot a few cool viking scenes - and decided to make a story around it and just sew it together.
Starts of pretty awkward then moves on to some cool raiding then it's back to awkward drama and weird scenes. Then it's a lot of fight talking then it's drama again. Then it's hallucinations and finally the movie ends.
Alexander is a BEAST but the movie is so poorly edited and the story is.... Predictable.
Beautiful scenery but... I nearly fell asleep.
Moon Knight: The Friendly Type (2022)
Great until they made the gods dumbos
The episode starts with good action only to summon the all powerful gods that are so easily lied to its not even bad funny. It's just tragic. Everything konshu does they know for some reason. But they don't see what the other character does. It's so so lazy and dumb.
Damn... Was about to be the best episode but we can't accept those plot holes.
Peaky Blinders: Gold (2022)
What happened?
Weird camera work. Messy plot. Annoying music cues and some voodo hoodo parts that doesn't make any sense to follow the rest of the show. The tricks aren't even in the same league to what this season is trying to make of it.
Peaky Blinders: Sapphire (2022)
This show has completely lost its strengths.
Weird camera work. Messy plot. Annoying music cues and some voodo hoodo parts that doesn't make any sense to follow the rest of the show. The tricks aren't even in the same league to what this season is trying to make of it
Actors are brilliant as always... But I just don't care.
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore (2022)
Anti climactic.......
Beautiful movie. Great actors. Wonderful soundtrack and a good story. (jude law steals the show again)
But this movie is soooooo boring. The finale is so a ti climactic that I wanted to erase the whole film from my memory.
Moon Knight (2022)
Marvel funny formula scares me
After a promising start it seems in the second episode they will try to make fun of as many moments as they get.
Not natural fun of course. But shallow slapstick fun that plagues the mcu.
I'm hoping this will change. It has great potential to be both dark and funny. But keep it natural to the scene.
