Below average film, with a terrific performance by Isabelle Fuhrman as its only saving grace.

I get the sentiments that this movie is trying to convey. But the delivery, especially in the last act of the film, was executed poorly.

It's a shame that an underrated talented actress (Isabelle Fuhrman), is wasted in a film that was written and directed by a hack (Deborah Kampmeier).

"Tape" wants to be a scream of vengeful rage that echoes down through the ages of abuse. But the film is best when it's simply recording one instance of it.

There's actually so much potential here, an excellent premise, a talented lead actress, yet it's all just kinda lost and the end result is a mess.

If you really want to see a #MeToo film where a female gets revenge on sick perverted men, I highly recommend "I Spit on Your Grave" (2010) and it's two sequels.

It's not utter crap but actually a good delicate revenge flick

Okay I went into watching this believing it was going to be something like Starry Eyes (2014) but it's a very realistic, slightly unstable "me too" issue that struggling actors are subjected to. Sextortion in Hollywood. Slow pace and the male lead rambles about a lot of nonsense but I'm satisfied. Not an traditional entertaining watch but educational.

A question of intelligence and priorities Warning: Spoilers
I've seen several F rated movies recently, and have some observations about them. Most have the same destination. Men are scum, and either fool, or force women into doing things that they would not normally do, or that they don't like to do. This movie's intent was obvious...to call attention to the way that some men abuse women. These women were taken in by a desire, or dream, or a need of being famous, or socially popular. They were all over 18, and signed waivers stating that the films that would appear in was of their own volition, and that they were not coerced, drugged, or drunk. At what age, or what point do women no longer need protection from their own actions, due to their naivete? There were several women shown at the end. I do not know their ages. Would a woman of 21 have been more savvy? 25...30? At what point do men stop being responsible for women that want fame at any price? No doubt, the filmmaker, played by Tarek Bishara, is a despicable guy. No one should do what he did. I'm not defending him. But the world is full of liars, and women seem to easily fall prey to them, at every age. The world knows that young men, and older men lie to young women for sex. This is not a new story. Women seem to lack the required judgment for keeping themselves safe. It makes me question their basic intelligence. It seems that every woman has a story of abuse to tell. The women themselves say the same thing. They name names of sex offenders, and then say..."we know the names..."but nothing ever changes." Should ALL filmmakers stop making stories involving sexual situations? Should all High schools and colleges become gender segregated? As long as men and women are together, there will be instances of either accused assaults, or actual assaults. It's going to continue until human nature changes...and I don't see that happening. It's already legislated. Will we start condemning men for enjoying the sight of a woman? Thomas Otway wrote... "O woman! Lovely woman! Nature made thee To temper man: we had been brutes without you.

Angels are painted fair, to look like you: There's in you all that we believe of heaven,- Amazing brightness, purity, and truth, Eternal joy, and everlasting love." ..... Men are always going to pursue women. When women are willing to do whatever a man wants, men will continue to want it.

The Movies denounced should be written in a more conscious way otherwise do not help!

I'm really sorry to have to give a negative vote to a film denounced because I really sorry for the many girls who have undergone abuse and violence but unfortunately this film is really shot and written very badly not even the very good actress Isabelle Fuhman manages to give something more to the Film because if his part is written badly like the return of the film there is nothing to do there are terrible scenes especially at the end of the film in particular the audience of the audition and then the final scene should have thought about it a little more, maybe they had broken deadlines I'm sorry to give a negative vote to certain films but if the movie is badly done I can't do anything and I see that I'm not the only one to think so.

Very rough, but worthwhile watch
nthnwood3 November 2020
As the story is based on true events an extra layer of disgust is added to the whole movie. The victims and struggle and process are very rough to watch. I had to take a break midway through.

The main male lead does a fantastic job at being extremely charismatic while also being detestable.

The movie being shot very intimately from the perspective of the hidden cameras was also a nice added level of realism.
