Cutely militant even if it doesn't stick in the mind much

It is no secret that I love Yulin Kuang's work; she delivers a cutesy tone in her shorts that somehow works. This short series of films came via YouTube Spaces and related to International Woman's Day. The combination of dialogue about the fall of the patriarchy is nicely balanced with Kuang's engagingly sweet view of friendship, and of having the clash between the characters' world view and their age. Even as a fan I confess that this is slightly gimmicky though, and it feels like a project rather than something that came about organically.

In this way it doesn't have a lot of substance, and the charm is not enough to carry it across that gap. It is cutely militant in its comedy though, but it is very much a fleeting curio.
