Not a Hollywood movie, but a good film in terms of AusFilm
travis_hates_martin23 October 2019
Loved the first one, great gritty Aussie crime film, Was one of the breakout movies for Firass Dirani as well. This one follows on obviously but like a majority of sequels it's not as great, in saying that it's a decent crime plot. Acting is up to Australian low budget film standard so not much can really be expected.

6-10 for overall film, but in terms of Aussie film I'd give it an 7-8/10

You'll like it if you liked the first one!

Not too bad!

Similar themes to the first movie... you'll probably appreciate it more if you've grown up around Western Sydney... it's a similar style to the new Romper Stomper tv series... and George Basha's other productions so if you've liked them - you'll like this too!

A low point for Sydney crime
cwmcguiness16 October 2019
30 years since Gregor Jordan's timeless Two Hands was released, how the storytelling of Sydney's underworld digressed so much in this period of time? Sure, The Combination Redemption depicts the tribal suburban divide in Western Sydney. But throughout it's a very predicable script, and as for the dialogue, although sometimes It's funny and is real to life, its way over the top!! (more swearing isn't always better). Ok, It's another film written and staring Basha for Australia's Lebanese communities. But all this movie did was make me frustrated! Sydney has everything, it can be it's own character in feature films, from its cultural diversity that is evident just by driving from suburb to suburb throughout Sydney, combined with its unforgettable landmark and beaches, the city can go from the best place on earth, to being by far the most dangerous place in Australia. Sydney's identity is a perfect backdrop for a unique well scripted/directed crime feature, and Sydney needs an acclaimed crime feature, unfortunately The Combination Redemption isn't it.

Id like to interview those that gave this 9/10
mr_iceman10 July 2019
The story has merit with some potential, however the acting is terrible, the entire cast needs to head over to their nearest drama school and get some lessons, I've seen Vlogs with better acting skills than this.

Its an alright movie for Australian cinema
yassermiri24 November 2019
The movie was alright wasn't like a Hollywood movie but its good for a movie that was made in sydney, the story is good and the photography is good. The story highlights some of the real stories that happen on the streets of western Sydney and thats what made me enjoy watching it.

Disgrace to film
lahoudorchris19 October 2019
The worst film i have seen in years. The fact that netflix gave the go ahead to make this available on their platform is a joke. And more of a joke is the fact this is rated 4 stars, I could of made a better film on I movie.

I thoroughly enjoyed.

Although predictable and some of their acting not so great, it got me hooked enough for me to sit and watch both movies from start to finish, and i enjoyed it.

Poor film - horrible acting - terrible story line
ochmaisse18 October 2019
The story line was something any high school drama student could have narrated - no depth and weak story line.

The acting was extremely poor and was not upto a Hoyts film standards. Would not recommend this film to any body and was honestly very poor in every aspect.

It was honestly embarrassing to watch. The filming was horrible it was as if it was recorded in a phone.

Solid Film
miz_maya20 October 2019
This film explores topics which are currently affecting today's society, particularly in the Western Suburbs of Sydney.

Most, who are oblivious to what is actually going on around them; or refuse to accept the truth about what has become socially acceptable in today's society rather, are part of the problem, which try to brush the issue under the carpet and stick their heads in the sand rather than addressing it. Sadly, those types of people are the ones more prone in leaving negative reviews for a raw film such as this and attacking honest reviewers.

This film depicts the issue of racism, and crime and wether you like it or not, it's a real issue and it happens. Irrespective of the fact that we are entering 2020 and should have by now moved past exterior differences, which we have no control over, we (as a society) are in fact standing still, and allowing this behaviour to continue. While the rest of us are just surviving, through racism, criminal activity, stigma, segregation and other issues.

It's one thing to acknowledge that this behaviour exists, it is another thing to acknowledge that you yourself are an instrument of that behaviour.

One star being filmed in colour
georgestama7815 October 2019
Anyone rating this wanna be gangsta life film has to be kidding me, acting is terrible, storyline is schoolyard level, and this movie does no depict the streets of Sydney, best part of the film was seeing an XY GT falcon and the Walkinshaw Commodore.

Missed the mark
acma-0518926 December 2019
While the first one had some solid acting, pacing and drama, this unnecessary sequel has none of those qualities. Really choppy quick cut editing that makes it very distracting, crude characters that are just vile, really wooden acting and a romantic sub plot that wouldn't happen and isn't believable. The whole thing is very messy and felt exhausting to watch, one of the very rare movies I had to skip some scenes because i felt it drag on or felt too cheesy and silly. I really wanted to enjoy this movie as I did the first but it wanted to do too much with too little substance. Sorry George

Good story for todays topics
ride-897-72935923 August 2020
I liked the story. Very apt for todays society in Australia. The acting tho is sooo bad. Its actually worse than neighbours and home and away which I thought would be impossible. Also no gangsters walk around with a shoulder holster in plain view of the public lol. Such a pity the awful acting let this down.

George and David keep reflecting Oz back at us
leemason1114 February 2020
Returning years after the original incendiary Combination, George Basha has fashioned another hard hitting slice of Urban warfare. Warring factions from all walks of life do battle in this well written, directed and performed flick. It stands out as a film that tells how life really is in Sydney or any city or town in Australia, not a glorified version with kangaroos bouncing down the street or Hogan larrikin isms that set our culture back 30 years. Basha and Field are a dynamite pairing who should be given as much money as they want to make more films like this. Top notch.

Confronting Australian movie
lyndel1714 February 2020
As someone who grew up in Western Sydney this movie had many relatable themes. While confronting and disturbing I thought the story was well told and believable. Fantastic to see a decent Aussie made movie which tells it like it is. Hope to see more.

A fine contemporary exploration of Australian culture
mistermsmith14 February 2020
Despite working great as a standalone film, The Combination Redemption is a great continuation of an incredible story that not only explores family and culture, but also the misrepresentation that Middle Eastern families often receive from the media and pro-Anglo groups. Can be confronting at times, but that's what gives this film its proper punch.

AN ABSOLUTE SUPERB PIECE OF FILM MAKING
clksophie14 February 2020
I really loved this movie, if you want to write a good tradegy, than family is one of the most important things you must have on your mind. Family is the smallest unit of society. And in this unit is called " Combination Redemption" Staring the gorgeous Mr George Basha as (Johnny Morkos) whom is so convincing. A valnerble family who have a vandetta with drug dealers...Tony Ryan was great and unnerving! Beautifully shot carefully crafted and takes total ownership of a very intense view of family and crime...Great cultural background music. ..I really enjoy watching it every time. Great work Mr George Basha. Looking forward to many more keep up the good work.

Solid film
foddaomar31 October 2019
A very enjoyable film , which deals with great issues we deal with in society . It doesn't shy away from getting real and up in your face . Enjoyed it and highly recommend it . Actors were great and very real and believable . It's a film that needs to be seeing and I'm sure there will be audiences who can't handle what is said or what fits into their real world and will attack a film like this . Great Australian film right up there with the best.

This movie has a powerful message in it, for the sake of preserving humanity we all need to accept each other as humans no matter what color, culture or social stature we come from love has no prejudice. Amazing movie
tasha-5252723 October 2019
I absolutely loved this movie. It pretty much sums up the society of what we are living today. It had me laughing, crying and is definately an eye opener. It shows us that there is cruel racist people out there and also beautiful people who dont judge. Im 100% australian and i was saddened by the role the aussies played but thats this world today. The ending was about people becoming one and accepting everyone. I cant get enough of this movie. I highly recommend everyone watch it

cconridge20 October 2019
Sat down on netflix to watch a film and found this little gem. I started watching it and was thinking to myself id probably end up switching it off as im not a huge australian film fan. But this film had me stuck to my tv set, it took me on a journey and i felt every emotion from laughter to sadness. Performances were great, story was great. Not for the fein hearted. It really pushes boundaries and gets straight up in your face. Congrats to all involved.
