Thanks Disney Channel!
Thanks Disney Channel for this show. Disney Channel hasn't been good since Good Luck Charlie and Wizards of Waverly Place ended except Girl Meets World that was it. Disney Channel are starting to bring back cartoons and this kinda comedy show. Thank You Disney Channel and keeping making more stuff like this instead Laugh Tracks every 5 minutes. LOVE YOU Disney!!

Disney Channel is Back
catarinaloss3 April 2017
For most of my life, I had been a Disney Channel die-hard. This lasted up until my mid-teens, when the network's downward spiral became too much to bare. The series I connected with the most growing up was Lizzie McGuire, so when it was announced that Disney Channel picked up a new series from Lizzie's creator Terri Minsky, I was ecstatic and full of new-found hope. To top it off, the premise sounded cute and refreshingly normal in comparison to most of DC's current content.

Disney Channel desperately needed SOMETHING to reestablish its legitimacy in tween programming; Girl Meets World and Best Friends Whenever showed promise, but never delivered on it; Stuck in the Middle is a huge step in the right direction, but still a bit too squeaky clean. Finally, we have Andi Mack. Something about it just feels real, whether it be the use of actually locations or the lack of a laugh track (please continue with these trends, Disney!). The young actress in the title role is adorable and shows real talent from the start.

That's not all, folks. There's a twist that is absolutely shocking for Disney Channel, and there's even a period joke in the first episode! That's right, Disney Channel has guts again.

Disney Channel desperately needed SOMETHING.

Andi Mack is it.

Warning: Spoilers
better story, better friends, stronger lead who isn't whiny and melodramatic. the kids have a life. the lead isn't some Barbie doll, she actually looks average from her hair to her clothes to her bedroom. Diversity is real and there are no token characters put in just so people can be satisfied. Disney has finally done right with this one. Hasn't been a good family on the network since Good Luck Charlie and stuck in the middle. This show does everything right with what everything Girl Meets World did wrong and it's only been two episodes.

It brings REAL problems to light in a kid-friendly environment. Love it.

Warning: Spoilers
I read a previous comment about how this show isn't the typical Disney theme. The comment bashes Andi Mack because of the messages displayed in the content. However, that is what makes this show great. It brings to light the everyday struggles people go through. Everyone's world isn't perfect. A teenage pregnancy, secrets, crushes, unfair school policies and much more. I love this show. I love it because its real; easy to relate to. I love this show because it isn't a corny sitcom. Disney is bringing the REAL WORLD and REAL Problems into this show. And although Andi's life isn't perfect she finds happiness and things work out as she learns more about the world and about herself. I LOVE IT. I LOVE IT. I LOVE it. Please continue the series. Its perfect.

The Only Good Disney Show in Ages
kyliem-093753 June 2017
I love it! (though it can get a it cringe at times) The cast is super talented, and it's plot is actually engaging and interesting. Best of all is there's no laugh track! The character act and dress like middle school students and are super easy to relate to rather than over the top. Not to mention the show manages to tackle more mature situations without alienating its target demographic, meaning all ages cam watch!

best show on Disney channel far since all throwback originals!!!!!!
sapphirealex30 April 2017
Lemme tell you something, listen here and listen good, Disney channel has been left in the garbage for a really long time just like nickelodeon. This made me mad so i stopped watching it and only watched Free Form or The CW channel because of Disney's corny, cheesy crap over that last years. Here comes a new show called Andi Mack and let me tell I was not planning to watch but after i heard the producer/director was from Lizzie Mcguire i flipped and I thought the story line of teen mom i was genius so i become curious and decided to watch and not expecting how great of a show it really is.It pushes boundaries talks about actual teen issues and takes us out our comfort zone and address serious topics for once but it's also funny and not boring and generic and actually doesn't have laugh tracks to pretend its funny when its not. I love how its not predictable like a stupid love triangle, new girl or two girl best friends scenario and actually focus on how every character is coping with the struggle of being a teenager.

What happened?
zarrnedd24926 July 2018
The 1st season of this show was smart, well paced, and cute; the 2nd season has been cute, but a whole mess in the plotline department.

The main relationship storyline - Jonah & Andi has been painfully dragged out for a whole 2 seasons. The 2 characters constantly backtrack on previous points in the storyline for no reason other than to stir up an 'A' plot worth of drama.

Buffy's plot has taken 3 very sharp turns this season, none of which resulted in any character development...

For Jonah's anxiety storyline, Bowie acts as his therapist while projecting his own problems onto Jonah. While that may be interesting to see, there is NO WAY that the children watching this can understand what projection looks like - making this storyline virtually useless to the target demographic.

Poor Cyrus has been neglected for an entire season, only to show up once every blue moon to remind the audience that he's gay. All he's been doing is supporting Andi and Jonah's relationship from a distance, without ever actually being involved in the storyline.

The only consistent plotlines are those of Bex, Celia, and TJ - despite him only being a recurring character.

Best Disney show ever! When I first heard about it, I thought it was gonna be cheesy and stupid, but it is very different from other Disney shows. It doesn't have a laugh track, but it has music. The acting is good and real, and there's no cringey and unfunny jokes like almost every Disney channel show has. Every time Andi Mack comes on, I get so excited! Andi Mack is great and I hope there will be a season 2!

Good but can be better.
amamuhim27 February 2019
Honestly love this show so much. Love the actors, the storylines, it's all seriously amazing. The only problem i see here is , the relationship between Andi and Jonna, its kind like, Andi is jealous selfish sometimes. Like she gets mad at Jonna if he is friends with someone else. And sometimes it seems like he doesn't like Jonna or don't care about him.And she is the reason behind Amber and Jonna's Break up. They were real happy before andi showed up.

Buffy character is best in the series, for she doesn't care about anything and anyone, and independent girl with His own goal.

Cyrus is like , a boy who has no aim what to do with his Life ✨

A diverse cast for a garbage show!
hannahbojinski30 July 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Andimack is about a girl (Andi) who has spent 13 years of her life thinking her grandmother is her mom. It turns out that her "sister" (Bex) is her mom.

The actors are not very good. Their actions are over exaggerated and seem fake. It is not very enjoyable.

Every single episode revolves around Andi and a boy named Jonah. In every episode she is trying to get his attention even though he has a girlfriend. What are we trying to teach our children? All Andi cares about is Jonah.

Why is this show glorifying Bex? She had a kid, came back after 13 years, doesn't have a job or a house and is very disrespectful to her mom (Cici). It almost seems as though she is the kid in this show.

Andi is also disrespectful to Cici. Bex just comes in after 13 years and Cici loses all the credit of raising Andi. It's disgusting that a Disney show is showing this.

Overall, there are no good messages in this show. It glorifies being disrespectful, revolving your life against a boy, and being irresponsible. Just because there is an Asian lead doesn't hide the garbage messages.

Best Disney Channel Live Action Show in Quite Some Time
BoxwoodExpress10 March 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Disney Channel has been going downhill since the premiere of Hannah Montana. They have created many laughy, crappy, racist, offensive, sexist. annoying, pandering, cliché, cheesy, mean-spirited, disgusting, weird, corny, stupid, and plain out bad dramas and sitcoms. Their modern cartoons are better, but even the Disney cartoons have some duds like Pickle and Peanut and Future-Worm. The only good shows that are currently on Disney Channel/XD are Gravity Falls (reruns), Star Vs The Forces of Evil, Milo Murphy's Law, Phineas and Ferb, Yo-Kai Watch, Pokemon, Mickey Mouse Shorts, Star Wars Rebels, Elena of Avalor, Good Luck Charlie (reruns), Mech-X4, Suite Life of Zack and Cody (reruns), Lab Rats (reruns; not Bionic Force) and MAYBE Descendants Wicked World and Beyblade. Notice how I only put FOUR live action shows on the list of good modern Disney Channel shows, and three of them are RERAN (with one of them on DXD) and the other also on DXD, but currently on hiatus? (though it is getting a season 2). That's because there are ZERO good Disney Channel/XD live action shows that are currently being reran, put on hiatus, or airing new episodes.

That is, until Andi Mack came.

When I first heard about Andi Mack, I thought it would be another stereotypical teen sitcom that has mean characters. Then I found out it WASN'T actually a sitcom, or a cheesy drama, but instead one of those shows that don't have laugh tracks, but don't have excessive drama, like Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide. Except, this show DOES have actual drama. No, not like that new girl crap you see all the time. Shows that use the New Girl At School Who Gets Bullied By The Popular Girl and Starts Dating Her Ex suck. They're way too cheesy and predictable. Those types of shows are crap shows like Every Witch Way, Make it Pop, and possibly more.

But this show is different! it has REAL REAL drama! Seriously, who would've thought that Andi's sister Bex was actually her MOM? Plus, I love that she has a pixie cut, which shows girls that all hair styles are great, since Disney Channel seems to teach us that all beautiful people have long curly hair. The acting is actually okay. The show is way mature, its almost like Degrassi for kids. It deals with teen pregnancies, sexual orientations, and many more. It also helps that it doesn't have a laugh track and it is made by the same person who made Lizzie McGuire, a great Disney Channel show. But, the show isn't 100% drama, it has very funny moments as well. Besides, the show labels itself as a dramedy. Due to being mature and serious unlike Liv and Maddie. Because of its maturity, the show has already received critical acclaim.

All in all, Andi Mack is a great show that everyone should watch.

Very good show with some bad attempts at being cool/funny
SerialKillerFTW22 June 2017
This a great show that has much more quality than other Disney channel TV shows. I am starting to watch each week to see what new twist or surprise there is. It is full of positive messages and role models. I divide the story into 2 parts, Andi's family life, and Andy's friend life. The family side of the story is 10/10, but the school side is 4/10 for me. Andy's friends are good friends, but I kind of don't really like them that much. I don't like Andy's crush on Jonah, cause I don't see what is so special about Jonah. He is a nice and happy boy, but I don't see what makes him so amazing that Andi likes him so much. The side plot of Cyrus trying to impress Jonah is dumb. I don't care so much when they are showing that. Also there are a lot of cringey and weird moments when the show tries to be cool and funny. Not saying it isn't funny at all, cause it is. Andi's party is an example. Besides all that, I think this is a great show should become more popular.

Not good for Adopted Kids
frklesevr13 June 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Andi Mack is well written, the actors are wonderful and it is pleasure to watch. Its my 9 year old daughters favorite show. I will admit that I also enjoy watching it. There are a couple of things, though, that are concerning to me, being the mother of an adopted child. Andi finds out her older sister is actually her Mom, and the people who have been raising her for the last 13 years her Grandparents. Suddenly after only seeing Andi sporadically for the last 13 years, Bex (Bio Mom) wants to come back and raise her child. She totally disregards her own Mother who has been raising her daughter this whole time. Does not follow the established rules or wishes of the family. She believes it is her right to come in and take over. This is not OK, and shows just how selfish Bex actually is, even moves out with Andi without telling/asking/consulting her Mother. Cece is Andi's mother she has had her and raised her since birth, it is incomprehensible that Disney would write this on such a way as to make that seem inconsequential. As a Mother of an adopted child I would never allow this to happen. When you give your all to a child for 13 years you are the Mom and Dad. I think Disney really needs to give a bit more respect to this aspect. Plus Andi is more than happy to change her alligance....just a shame....

2/3 of a Very Good Show
exitscreaming11 February 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Andi Mack and Stuck in the Middle are definitely upgrades over some of the dreck that Disney has been shoveling out in recent years . Anyone remember " I Didn't Do It " or similar uninspired garbage ? Creatively , most of their line-up was cookie-cutter jokes and cliched boring characters .

Andi Mack is different and a breath of fresh air . Most of it feels relatively real , and isn't talking down to kids . If Disney never did another sitcom on a set with canned laughter , I wouldn't complain . The actress playing Andi Mack is great , very likable , as is the actress playing her Mom . Most of the adult supporting cast is very good also . So why doesn't this show get the full 10 Stars ?

The subplot of the gay character and his crush seems very forced and unrealistic . They both came across as gay from Day 1 , which makes the girls ( Andi is one ) crushing on them feel weird and false . They don't notice everything the audience sees ? While the message of everyone accepting everyone for who they are isn't a bad thing - it's being handled a little heavy-handed here .

Is TOOOOO One of Disney's ALL TIME Best!
Halliewho22 July 2018
Yes! This show is definitely one of Disney Channel's best (unlike what the first review said). JUST WATCH IT! If you loved Lizzie McGuire...this is like the closest to it and from the same people

I LOVE WOWP, Hannah Montana, and iCarly. So...if you like THOSE you'll like this. It's also edgier.

Best Show on Disney in Ages!
dariusmaxim-0792229 August 2018
This show is amazing on so many levels. It brings light to subjects most kid shows don't, like teen pregnancy, the lgbt, and mental health! It's teaching kids that it's ok to be who you are, and not be ashamed, and it's doing so in a very family-friendly manner, while also including funny and quirky scenes to make them laugh a little and accept themselves, no matter how "different" they may feel. Every kid out there will be able to relate to the characters in one way or another, and therefore they won't feel excluded from society just because they are attracted to a certain gender, suffer from a mental illness, or are a different race. The fact that this show also touches on race and different cultures is also very impressive.

I like the show...
leesteht3 July 2017
I like the show, but I'm curious, WHY is the father a white guy? I would be OK with a white guy as the father (or stepfather) I'm just curious. As Disney is supposed to be "diverse", the Asian family is the ONLY family depicted as mixed. Our country already has issues with the depiction of Asian males and Disney (I would expect) would be one of the FIRST to step up and change the stereotypes. Unfortunately, this isn't the case.

I love the show, the cast, but the exclusion of an Asian male lead just shows me that even Disney isn't ready to change that issue with Hollywood.

Pretty Good
risbyceonna27 June 2021
I don't have much to say considering I finished this series more than a year ago when I was younger but it was really good. All the characters had development and for once the plot wasn't predictable or boring. It was one of the best Disney channel shows. I definitely recommend. Not to mention the good costumes, talent and diversity this show has.

the future of this show

Warning: Spoilers
According to two entertainment websites (look at them for yourself) this show is going to have one of their main characters coming out as gay and have a story line which Disney Channel is a first for them.

This is the same network that ended "Good Luck Charlie" right after it had a lesbian couple in one episode that aired January 28, 2014 and left a gay kiss out from their most recent movie and thought that a main female character would come out from another recently ended series that never gotten another season.

I don't get it
sballroxmysox7330 March 2019
I honestly dont get the appeal for this show. I feel like it gets such high ratings and so much praise because there is a character who is gay, which is "progressive" for Disney channel.

Every episode seems to focus on Andi and Jonah, and will they won't they type deal. I honestly can't get past the acting though, it's just awful. It feels so awkward and forced.

Damn, This is Excellent!!!!!
drmerced16 June 2020
When I first heard that Disney Channel was making a new sitcom, I rolled my eyes because modern Disney Channel is so BAD it hurts. When I went in to this one, I went in ready to hate it. I finished the episode saying, YES. More of this please. Disney, you can make a good sitcom if you try. This show is so GOOD that it's insane.

What I really like about this show is that we get Disney talking about very advanced topics. We got introduced to a gay character, panic attacks, and so many more. They cover these heavier topics so well, that it makes for a beautiful story.

The characters in this show are all very relatable and very likable. I love each and every character so when I get asked the question, Who is your favorite character, I say all of them because the stories feel REAL. That is what you want in a good sitcom.

Overall, Andi Mack is immaculate, elegant and well constructed. This is a modern sitcom done WELL. Nickelodeon, take notes.

Normally I don't rate things a 10/10, but I think Andi Mack deserves it. I really recommend this show to any viewer out there

well made with nice characters
SnoopyStyle10 August 2019
13 year old Andi Mack's life is turned upside down when her sister Bex is revealed to be her real birth mother. Her grandmother Celia had taken over the mother role after free-spirit Bex left home. Bex returns and reconnects with her baby daddy Bowie Quinn. With best friends Cryus Goodman and Buffy Driscoll, Andi tackles life with her Andi Shack.

As a Disney kids show, it is well made and fits well among the upper echelon of the channel. The kids are bright and shiny without being too over the top. The main difference is certainly the gay character coming out. Without taking a personal moral stance, that scene is well made with some good acting. It has real pathos. The question becomes if this is good for kids. It's generally good for all kids. I'm sure that some parents may object so I would suggest limiting to teens for that sensitive group.

A Show Full of Lies
delaneyolexa15 April 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Andi Mack is a show that promotes teen pregnancy and lying to your child. Andi's sister and mother lied to her for years about her actual situation. Turns out Andi's sister is her mother and her mother is her grandmother. All of this deceit over the years seems to just be brushed off in a single episode. It's almost as if it's made to be okay to lie to your kids. I don't appreciate what this show is doing whatsoever
