Good movie but lack of chemistry.
MIssM199 February 2017
I saw the title for the movie a few weeks ago, and I've been wanting to see it since then. I'm a little disappointed.

The plot was good, believable. It made so much sense, i'm actually happy. Yes, it's predictable. But when one has seen so many movies of this type you know the ending for all of them. Even the subplots make sense. The character were good too though, but...

What disappointed me was the lack of chemistry between the two leads. I have never seen them act before, but every time Scott talked to Olivia I felt he was uncomfortable. Olivia is a nice character trying to save her dad's company, and she did it great, but I felt she was indifferent. I was happier with her dad's story and Karen and Peter's.

Despite that, It was a nice movie, enjoyable, but if the leads do not have that spark, I feel that the movie is somehow empty.

Unfocused

Olivia gets fired from her interior design job and goes home to find herself. Her dad goes on vacation and leaves his declining moving company in her hands. Her first act is to do some housecleaning in the office and disrupts everyone's personal space. For days they all sit on their hands while a big cooperate moving company steals all their clients. Oh, I forgot the internal boot camp training she puts everyone through which accomplishes nothing. Blah, blah, blah.

While this is going on a secondary couple try to fix each other up with someone else because they don't want to ruin their friendship.

Also, Olivia and Scott, who start out as coworkers start hanging out a little. I didn't really see the chemistry between Ambyr Childers and Keegan Allen, nor does the movie really make a good case for any serious romantic relationship, partly because their screen time was diluted by everything else going on.

The "climax" of the movie is a solid minute and a half musical montage showing what Olivia and Scott are each doing leading up to the final scene. The movie closes with a very quick tie-up scene with the expectable outcome.

The movie never hooked me. The lack of focus made it hard to identify with the main couple, the "climax" accomplished nothing, and the ending was too quick and not very satisfying.

Different Plot, Same Formula
tiffanytallent198121 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The plot summary at the top of the IMDb page isn't entirely correct. Olivia didn't inherit her family's moving company. She just started helping out her dad, after returning home from being fired. Her goal was always to find another interior design job and return to her life in NY. And Scott had never wanted to take over the company either. The moving gig was always temporary for him. Another employee, Pete, wanted to run the company when Olivia's dad retired.

This movie was sweet, but nothing too memorable. It had the same formula as all of these tv romances. But at least the romance portion was secondary to the main story. Olivia, Scott, and the other employees work to get her dad's moving company back on its feet. They end up using Olivia's gift of interior design as a tactic to generate new business. The moving company not only moved people out of their old homes, but helped them recreate their new homes. While working together, Scott and Olivia eventually develop feelings for each other. But she was able to get her old job back, and had to return to NY to start a new restaurant design gig. Olivia went to meet Scott at a local restaurant/bar to say goodbye and probably see if their feelings were mutual. Then She sees him hugging his ex girlfriend and immediately leaves. Scott goes by her dad's house to see her and finds out she is already back home in NY. Of course he is hurt that Olivia neglected to say goodbye. They both go on with their lives for a bit. She finishes her design job and he applies for law school in NY. A friend of Olivia's sends Scott an invite to her restaurant design's grand reveal. They discuss the misunderstanding about the ex girlfriend, he says he is staying in NY , and they kiss. The end. Lol

What drives me crazy about movies like this is that most of the time, the misunderstanding does NOT have to happen!!! Even I could tell that the hug between Scott and his ex was platonic. Plus, he and Olivia had LITERALLY just started having feelings. No kissing. No dates. They hadn't even talked about it. Ok so they did hold hands for a millisecond. I think Olivia should've walked up to them like it was nothing. If it had been, at least she would've known for sure, instead of assuming. And since it actually wasn't anything, Olivia could've officially been with Scott from that moment.

But to be honest, I didn't really like Olivia anyway. Maybe it was the actress who didn't fit. I don't think she paired well with her dad. Or as an interior designer. And especially not with Scott. Maybe if they'd had more screen time to connect and develop chemistry. I don't know. But Olivia didn't seem as receptive to it anyway.

Forgettable
phd_travel8 July 2017
Warning: Spoilers
This rom com isn't very involving or memorable. An interior decorator is laid off and goes back to help her father's moving company. She falls for a guy who is working there. Nothing to distinguish this from any other Hallmark movie. Ambyr Childers is the lead - a pleasant if not too memorable performance. Her love interest is Keegan Allen of PLL. He isn't very good at romantic roles. Needs some acting lessons. Some subplot about small businesses and big businesses taking them over.

This is the kind of movie you can have on in the background while you are doing chores.

One of the better ones
fandomfatale31 March 2018
I watch a lot of these types of movies. Not because I always love them but because I'm always searching for the ones that I like enough to want to watch more than once. I really enjoyed this one and would definitely watch it again. It is easily grouped into the made-for-TV lighthearted romance category, but I actually found it didn't follow the formula quite as closely as the Hallmark ones tend to do. It really drew out the first stage of the love story when there is conflict between them before they realize they have any romantic feelings towards each other, and personally I prefer that. I also really enjoyed the secondary romance, perhaps even more than the primary one. Overall I think this is one of the better ones of its kind. I didn't notice any lack of chemistry between the leads like was mentioned in one of the other reviews. But I'm familiar with Keegan Allen from Pretty Little Liars and his style of acting. I also think part of the reason it came off that way is because the movie chose not to telegraph the romantic feelings between Olivia and Scott until the third act - they had a lot of platonic interaction in the first part of the movie.
