This is a 3 part series on the American Revolution in a little over 2 hours total. By necessity, the war is depicted in broad brush strokes, but this is still a good overview. The series is quite well done, with realistic looking reenactments. What makes this production stand out, however, is the focus on various ordinary individuals who played a key or pivotal role in the successful outcome against the British. These are the American heroes you most likely have never heard of, to include African Americans, women and children. Also men such as Timothy Murphy, who trained himself as a sharpshooter in his native Pennsylvania woods, and was an important part of the victory at Saratoga. Also featured here is the role of luck, chance, and fortuitous weather in the ultimate victory of the Patriots. Overall, well worth watching, and it will whet your appetite for more information, as a good documentary should.
