A Sweet Natured RomCom!
baccaruda113 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Triple threat writer/director/actor Kevin Resnick has crafted a gentle and good natured tale that warms your heart in the best ways, just like the romcoms they used to make. Mr. Resnick plays Ben, a single widower trying his best to raise his beautiful little girl, while also trying to make life work with his live-in dad (Samuel). Enter willowy, new-agey Sunshine, a delightful free spirit of a woman who introduces Ben to yoga, and new ways of looking at life. RomCom tropes abound, but the story's sweet disposition, coupled with genuine guffaws in films first act draw the viewer into the story, and the inevitable conflict that arises for Ben at work and at home. Add a sage-like stoner work work buddy, a work place populated by skittish office worker bees, and even the occasional helium-voiced call girl that drops in to service Samuel, and all the pieces are in place for an entertaining movie night. Of COURSE Ben screws up his chance with the new woman of his dreams, setting up fresh realizations, reconciliations and surprises. This indie treasure is a film that shines a great light on independent film makers and the magic that can be created with good writing, acting, and solid direction. Cloudy with a Chance of Sunshine" is great movie to enjoy the the sunshine of your own life!

Heartwarming, sweet and thoughtful.

This movie starts out with a really clever opening credits sequence and only gets better from there. Lots of quirky characters and silly situational comedy on the outside, warm gooey center. Why haven't more people watched this?

No complaints about any of the actors or performances. The script is tight. Cinematography is solid. Just the right amount of Grandpa.

My absolute favorite thing to see a comedy do is drop a huge fat authentic moment of reflection into its story. A core that says, "I know we all like to have fun, but joking aside, I'm hurting deeply and will you help me heal?" This movie covers it expertly and for me it makes the whole thing worth it.
