Funny but overdramatic
Revieweraz22 December 2023
The first few episodes were funny time to time but I honestly felt like the acting was lacking a lot. Nithya menon is an incredible actress and she has done a lot of films and I did not expect her to act in a series. But she acted so artificially in this series, I love her but her expressions and acting were so much and did not fit the mood of the film at all. Sharaf on the other hand did a good job and I think he was almost the only one who acted naturally. Even Parvathi Malaa was overacting. The camera crew would do all these unnecessary zoom-ins and it just made the series look more dramatic. Shanthi, Ashokan, and renji panicker on the other hand did good. Maybe they had to act based on their characters and since nithya acted like someone raised in Bangalore she did have an accent when speaking in Malayalam. I can ignore that, but all the overacting from the mother and the daughter in law was totally unnecessary and could have been avoided. But I also feel like the series did a good job explaining how a small thing can be twisted and changed into a big matter. I also loved the cameo of Roshan Mathew. Overall it's a good watch but I feel like some actors could have acted naturally, and i believe it's a good series to watch with your family.

*** Master Peace Malayalam Web series Review ***

Directed by Sreejith N, starring Sharaf U Dheen, Renji Panicker, Maala Parvathi, Shanthi Krishna, Asokan, Nithya Menen

Premiering on Disney + Hotstar.

Conveying a relevant topic in a loud manner.

Summary of the Web series:

A couple who is undergoing the couple related issues and how their parents involve in their life thereby creating more complexity and what finally happens is all about this web series.

Analysis of The Movie.

1) Visually appealing shots. The colour twinning of an artist costume and the wall of house is well taken into consideration.

2) Performances of the leas artists was good but still in many areas it was being felt that performances of the artists in many areas was over performed. The comedy at many places felt to be artificial.

3) The topic chosen is relevant as it connects with today's societal changes. The marital issues, parents unwanted involvement into it had been conveyed in satirical manner.

Overall, an OK to watch kinda category.

Messaging wasn't needed.
psychhelp23 November 2023
The high-wired acts were a delight to watch. Maybe, it is the adage "seeing someone else's mother or family going madder by every second can be a cause for someone else's joy" is what makes this series fun. I believe this series didn't need such a star-studded cast. There are other's who could've been cast and could have elevated the spiralling of the families with their natural inclination. I liked how effectively they destroyed balance of those two old couples. Seeing this series made me wish someone would resurrect Akkara Kazhchakal format or the light humor it had with the energy of certain characters in this series. Things I didn't like at all was the incessant messaging, the voiceover sound, the highly artificial set and the young couple. Maybe, parts of the story was formulated with the intention to fit with the international platform's overall position on certain things, but such compromise is not required, not all languages do it, take French language TV-Series and Movies for an example. Fun should have been the only criteria for making this series.

Wes Anderson theme lacks story and comedy
ibob-6393126 October 2023
Upon viewing the series promo, I held notably high expectations for it. The series demonstrates a commendable effort in seamlessly aligning colors, objects, and characters with a distinct Wes Anderson-esque style, where characters are symmetrically positioned at the center of the screen. This aspect of the production is almost on par with the director's signature aesthetic.

However, what dissuades me from considering the second season is the deficiency in humor, the timing of dialogues, and an overarching narrative with a lack of a robust plot. While I genuinely applaud the creators for their innovative approach, there is a clear need for enhancement in the content to captivate and retain viewers. My best wishes go out to the team for their future endeavors.

For instance, in a similar context, viewers have praised Wes Anderson's "The Grand Budapest Hotel" for its meticulous symmetry and visual style Yet, even in his films, the humor and dialogue timing are crucial for audience engagement.

Nithya Menen & Sharaf U Dheen make a chaotic couple in this fun comedy ride
nidhunmoviebuff25 October 2023
Nithya Menen & Sharaf U Dheen unleash delightful havoc in this fun, over-the-top and chuckle-worthy comedy about dysfunctional family dynamics. Maala Parvathi is the standout in a star-studded supporting cast with Renji Panicker, Ashokan & Shanthi Krishna also pitch-perfect in their roles.

Master Peace touches upon key issues of personal space, individual choice and career aspirations that become points of contention in any relationship and neatly critiques the Indian tradition of over-involvement of in-laws in any newly married couple's lives.

An enjoyable gag-filled narrative makes sure that the laughs are as hard-hitting as the social commentary. Recommended!

Waste of time
makhus1 November 2023
The home decorations are quite impressive, adding a visually pleasing element to the setting. However, the screenplay falls short of expectations, leaving much to be desired. The humor in the show is, unfortunately, lackluster and doesn't resonate with my taste.

I'm genuinely puzzled by how this series managed to achieve an IMDb rating of 6.3, as it doesn't align with my personal preferences. It's clear that there was potential for significant improvement in various aspects of the production.

Regrettably, my disappointment with the show grew as I watched more episodes. After viewing the initial three episodes, I found myself so disengaged that I resorted to fast-forwarding through the rest of the series to see if it would redeem itself in any way.

Nice attempt
aseemanakkund25 October 2023
Pilot episode started kind of slow. But then it got really interesting. It was more of serious conversations rather than fun. A little more of fun would be appreciated. I thought this was just 1 season thing like Kerala crime files, but how it ended I'm waiting for the next season. When Roshan came it was really funny, wished he would have been in this season itself. Anyway waiting for the next season. Aa a series fan I always want more malayalam series.

Every one played their part really well. Jude and Sharafudheen are my favorites. And Shanthi krishna was really good with that song thing. Maala parvathy little overacted sometimes.

Loud, plastic comic act
jkdreams27 October 2023
"Masterpeace" boasts an impressive ensemble cast, but the film's script and acting are marred by a plastic and overly loud quality. The production team has clearly drawn inspiration from Wes Anderson's distinctive style in terms of production design and character portrayal. However, they falter in establishing the humane and relatable comic connection with the audience that Anderson excels at.

The film's characters appear to be overly stylized, lacking the depth and emotional resonance that would make them truly engaging. The dialogue might be witty, but it often comes across as forced, failing to capture the natural and endearing humor that Anderson's films are known for. This results in a disconnect between the characters and the viewers, making it difficult to empathize or root for them.

The visual elements, including the camera work and art direction, mirror this stylized approach. While Wes Anderson's films are known for their meticulous and quirky aesthetics, "Masterpeace" seems to mimic these elements without capturing the heart and soul that make Anderson's work so beloved. The art direction may be visually striking, but it lacks the warmth and authenticity that can draw the audience into the story.

In essence, "Masterpeace" falls short of successfully emulating the Wes Anderson style, as it lacks the essential human touch and genuine comic appeal that Anderson effortlessly weaves into his films. While the cast may be formidable, they are constrained by a script that forces them into artificial performances, and the visual aspects of the film fail to strike the right balance between style and substance. As a result, "Masterpeace" may leave viewers admiring its aesthetics but ultimately feeling detached from the characters and their journey.

A Visual Symphony
abhay-0129726 October 2023
Web series and digital content have seen an unprecedented surge in recent times, with storytellers opting for the medium to relay intricate narratives with depth and flair. The latest to join this pantheon of digital artistry is the web series "Masterpeace." But to term it 'just another series' would be a disservice to its grandeur. "Masterpeace" is less a series and more an experience, an opulent visual and auditory symphony that captivates from start to finish.

Visual Brilliance: The first thing one notices is the impeccable visual treatment. The cinematography is both evocative and elegant, painting pictures that oscillate between the dramatic and the subtle. Every frame has been crafted with diligence, making it evident that the creators wanted each scene to be a standalone masterpiece. The color palettes, shot compositions, and scene transitions are a testament to the team's commitment to aesthetic excellence.

Craftsmanship: The making of "Masterpeace" underscores the importance of detail. It's not just about the broader storyline, but also the minute elements that are seamlessly woven into the narrative. The background scores, set designs, and costume detailing all work in tandem, creating a world that's immersive and authentic. It's rare for a series to pay such close attention to these finer aspects, making "Masterpeace" stand out in an oversaturated market.

Acting Prowess: Nithya Menen and Sharaf form the crux of this series, and their performances are nothing short of stellar. Menen, with her natural charisma and emotive prowess, brings depth to her character, ensuring the audience is rooted in her journey. Sharaf, on the other hand, complements and contrasts Menen's character, showcasing versatility that's both refreshing and impactful.

Yet, the surprise package of "Masterpeace" is undoubtedly Coco, the dog. In a landscape where animals are often relegated to the background, Coco shines through with a performance that's endearing and authentic. It's a delightful sight to witness a canine exhibit such acting skills, adding layers of emotion and humor to the storyline.

Narrative Depth: Beyond the visual appeal and stellar performances, what holds "Masterpeace" together is its compelling narrative. The plot meanders through a labyrinth of emotions, ensuring viewers are invested in the characters' arcs. The storytelling is crisp, yet layered, offering insights and twists that keep audiences on the edge of their seats.

Conclusion: In an era where content is churned out rapidly, with the emphasis often on quantity over quality, "Masterpeace" is a breath of fresh air. It underscores the importance of storytelling that's both visually and narratively rich. From its breathtaking visuals to its impeccable making, it sets a new benchmark for web series globally.

The collective performances of Nithya Menen, Sharaf, and yes, even Coco, elevate "Masterpeace" from being just another series to a timeless classic. It's a testament to the potential of digital platforms, where creativity and innovation can thrive unhindered.

In conclusion, "Masterpeace" is not just a series but a celebration of cinema and storytelling. It beckons viewers into its world, offering an experience that's both enthralling and memorable. If there's one series you choose to watch this year, let "Masterpeace" be it. You're in for a visual treat that will linger long after the credits roll.

Best Malayalam Series
sanushamgskp6 November 2023
I really admired the director's ability to convey the message of nihilism to the viewers without explicitly stating it, but rather by skillfully illustrating it through the story. I believe it's important for every parent in Kerala to watch this film and gain valuable insights from it. Moreover, it is important for children to realize that loving parents doesn't necessarily equate to blindly obeying their unreasonable demands. Parents can make mistakes in various aspects, including respecting their children's basic human rights, such as accepting them as individuals and respecting their life choices.

The casting was exceptional, and each actor portrayed their character with great skill and conviction. I would like to applaud the entire team for their remarkable work. Please continue to produce such thought-provoking and entertaining content that can simultaneously make us laugh and reflect on important issues.
