reminds me of old legend movies
dromeresen3 July 2023
First of all, I can say that it is one of the most beautiful animations I have watched with its music, dialogues, topic and fight scenes. It's like a work of art, with each frame individually embroidered. The series is very gripping and action-packed. The series reminded me of old legend movies. It became a martial arts epic full of emotional sweetness. The drawings are also very good. This connects people not only with the action scenes, but also with the subject. It is a production that not only children but also adults will enjoy watching. I recommend you to watch it. This series will make a big splash.

Lone Wolf and Cub, but Chinese.
sgftinternets7 November 2023
The animation is a bit uneven, going back and forth from pretty good to pretty bad. I can't really judge Chinese voice acting and historical accuracy because of my ignorance in both fields, but seems good to my amateur ears and knowledge.

What I do know is violence and brutality, and that it does pretty well. The main character is pretty brutal and so are the people he fights against.

The plot is nothing new if you know Lone Wolf and Cub or any of it's derivatives. The most recent derivative you might know is The Mandalorian, though this series is far more brutal than Disney would ever allow.

A Rare Masterpiece of Wuxia
nightringer-768403 August 2023
For martial art flicks' fans, Wuxia genre is currently rare. Blades of the Guardians is such a film, or this case animation series. It has deep literature, artistic animation and hypnotic experience watching thia series every 30 minute episode.

In todays film industry, we only find CGI and melodrama martial art films and series because those sell well to the younger demographic audience.

Watching Blades of the Guardians brought back old style martial art style from movies/series in the 70s - 80s. We have several stylistic films in the 90s til now, but it is very rare. It reminds me of films like Hero, Ashes of Time, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, and those in similar artistic theme.

The fighting scenes are done swift and short, so it won't disturb the story too much. However, the impact of the fighting scenes are enormous to the story as a whole.

I'm quite surprise that this is Mr. Shu Firts directoral debut. He would have a long and worth watching career.

If you want to know what a masterpiece animation series looks like today, watch Blades of the Guardians. You'll be surprised. It's never a funny haha animation. It never drops down to brutally bloody animation. However, the animation is done perfectly suitable for the story.

Amazing Graphics And Very Captivating
nielmarsha10 April 2024
I'm absolutely happy to have discovered this anime, and I love the graphics and the play is just so smooth like Demon Slayer, And The Way It Was Played Was Absolutely Amazing And Very Captivating, With Smooth Graphics And Very Clean Drama Play. But It Would Have Been Nice If They Incorporated More Straight Line Play Like Making Some Parts understandable, But Though Speaking It Was Worthwhile Watching, Though It Should Be Available In Netflix For More HD Quality.

Except That Am Absolutely In Love With This Movie And I'm Happy To Discover Such An Amazing Anime And It Deserves The Biggest Award.
