Huge misfire
masonsaul11 August 2023
Justice League: Warworld is a huge misfire for the tomorrow-verse, wasting an interesting concept on an enjoyable but completely pointless 90 minute adventure that's made worse by some hilariously awful set up for the next crisis in this universe.

Taking away the identities of the League and putting them each in a different environment is a superb idea if they actually chose settings and stories that were linked to who these characters are deep down but these feel so random. Superman's comes closest as it almost tests what truth, justice and the American way really means.

Still, there's some funny be had in seeing Wonder Woman battle Jonah Hex in the Wild West and Batman fight a giant snake. Jensen Ackles, Darren Criss and Stana Katic are all fine here but really aren't given much, no arcs, no chemistry but they sound like their characters.

The animation is good, since all of these use the same style it kinda gets less impressive as they go along but it's by no means bad and still an improvement over the previous one. The pacing isn't good as it goes from an overly long first act into rushed a third act but it's rarely boring.

So close yet so far
jordansteel29 July 2023
Close in terms you try something different and it takes time to understand, Far because it gradually gets boring. Im a die hard JLA fan and didnt believe i would ever hit the ff button in a JLA movie.

DC has given us some really good ones and you have the playing field to do that with the characters and their powers. Doom and crisis on 2 earths are some such amazing works. But here it just like another simulation favoring a few characters. I say it time and again, the martian is ithe most underutilized character in DC considering his powers.

Hope to see better over time. This was a fine offering but doesnt utilize its full potential and is watchabe but a bit dull. DC fans go ahead but dont expect too much.

Present rating of 5.5 is precise.

Is it a movie or an episode?
kthngm26 July 2023
DC has always been king when it comes to animation but for some reason the tomorrowverse ( all the movies after JLD Apokolips War) has been a huge disappointment and JL war world is no exception. The movie doesn't feel like a movie, it feels more like an episode. The animation style of this new universe is not my favorite, however, that's very subjective so I wouldn't take points off for their animation style. The writing and plot line in the other hand does take points off for me. The ending seemed rushed and story and character mini arcs didn't really make me fall in love or appreciate any of them more. I think DC doesn't understand that writing good character arcs and plots isn't just important for the movie itself, but also for the IP and brand in general. If you make me love the characters, I can be the loyal customer that I once was, the one that would buy your movie tickets, toys and games no matter what. But that customer has been lost because you guys just keep giving us bad writing and not listening to fans.

Not Worth a Watch
Ltufano2331 October 2023
The DC Animated Films have always been a mixed bunch, but their newest addition, Justice League: Warworld, falls on the lesser side of quality. With an anthology type set-up, each story feels bland and emotionless, not providing much excitement or engagement. The voice acting is stiff and feels like a table-reading, instead of the final take. While the animation is fine, it has no expression and feels very standard. All the elements begin to feel boring before the first story is over and with nothing special in between, the ending could not come quicker. The R rating proved to be completely pointless, as nothing is done with it and it looked like just an excuse to have a Justice League film that includes some blood. Hopefully the new direction of the DCEU can provide a higher quality in the animated films too.

Warworld Tomorrowverse Style
tinkkytone26 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The Tomorrowverse gets a bad wrap amongst DC animation fans. Many complain about the artistic style, voice acting, slow pacing, and action sequences. I am not one of those people. Generally speaking, I have enjoyed every new entry in this set of connected animated movies, and Justice League: Warworld is no different.

The movie begins with Wondy roaming an old West setting complete with horses, saloons, and Jonah Hex himself. It's not really clear what's going on. Heck! Wonder Woman doesn't even know what's going on, and the mystery of why she is there only adds to the strangeness; yet, no sooner has Wondy vanquished the bad guys then we're off to Skartaris where Batman is fighting dinosaur-like creatures with long flowing locks like Conan the Barbarian. Again, nothing makes sense, and soon enough we're off to an out of the way diner in the middle of nowhere. Everything is in black and white and there are old style cars and an FBI agent named Clark Kent who bears a remarkable cartoon resemblance to George Reeves as he fights aliens from outer space. (My hats off to the animators here because there are some clear homages to The Adventures of Superman. I appreciated that as a Superman fan.)

What is Warworld and why are our heroes there? The third act of the movie attempts to answer those questions, but you might still be confused and that is sort of the point. Each movie in the Tomorrowverse acts as an individual and somewhat self contained storyline, similar to a comic. Events do not follow directly or even reference previous movies. There isn't a lot of time spent on origin or backstories. The expectation is the viewer has some knowledge of the characters or settings beforehand, and that works for me because I am a die hard DC fan! I love the characters already, so for me JL: Warworld is a solid entry. It hits enough of the right beats to be entertaining for 90 minutes and I love the comic realism of the animation style. It is confusing, but no more so they any comic book. Again...that's why I enjoy the Tomorrowverse because I still read and enjoy comics, and the Tomorrowverse is like watching a comic book come to life.

Ignore the hate and check out JL: Warworld for yourself.

7/10.

Utter Rubbish
jamesinswansea3 September 2023
It is like the department sacked everyone and employed some lame writers and illustrators. The story is all over the place and is incoherent, there is no reason why any of it is going on or what for.

This is the poorest DC movie I have seen and to be honest they are normally excellent, the Flashpoint, Batman and all the Superman animated stuff has excelled. I just hope this is a single misfire and not they way DC is going to go and end up like their movie releases, otherwise they are going to find themselves with a lot less people who will be interested in these types of movies.

Come on DC you can do better.

mostly an okay anthology, but low framerate and no ending
agof28 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
We are 6 (9-10) movies deep into the Tomorrowverse and it has less continuity than DCAMU. All of it is told out of order, and in separate realities. Like, this one is outright an anthology movie, that brings together Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and Martian Manhunter, but implies that all of them are from different universes. That's despite that we saw Superman, Lobo and Manhunter from the Tomorrowverse (prime) being together in the first movie.

This film has the same old Tomorrowverse animation - reserved delivery, very thick outlines, and struggling framerate.

And then there is no real ending.

My god, was this terribad
brklotz28 October 2023
I've watched all of the Tomorrowverse movies, each of the getting worse and worse. This was by far the most terrible. The way it throws you into WW's story without context. The malformed characters and weird character choices - Jonah Hex is an anti-hero, not a cold-blooded murder; Diana just lets a husband and wife die and then rushes to save the daughter, when she could have easily saved all 3. Later, she has her hands in the air at gunpoint when earlier she deflected bullets. This is just a piece of the nonsensical writing on display here. She's also has this strong Eastern European accent for some reason? I get she did it for her intro movie. Justice Society: WWII, but it makes no sense here which is later in the timeline.

And don't even get me started about the completely abrupt ending. Who is in charge of this mess??

What is this?
kevanmoore28 July 2023
I've always said DC animated moves beat any live action even MCU, but since this "tomorrowverse" started it's just poor.

We want adaptations of our favourite stories, I thought seeing Bruce dressed like that we'd get the return of Bruce Wayne story. But nope!

The stories just suck.

I've been waiting for a Batman contagion/cataclysm No man's land story for years. Superman worlds at war, even a proper warworld story.

Seeing the name I expected a good movie with mongul and warworld but no this is what we're given.

The writers cannot write wonder woman We need stories that matter.

I know we're getting crisis movie but follow that with flash rebirth, GL rebirth, blackest night, give us a nightwing story that we all want.

A proper character story just not batman (ironic as I want no man's land)

DC have a sold 40 years of great stories ( pre 80s was bad in general)

I can't see what this story is from, seems original, but we don't want original, we want animated versions of what we love to read.

DC fans need to widen their horizons
milmar-5538731 July 2023
Ok, DC fans, you need to see a bigger picture here. Every time you run into a DC anime that isn't following the same old boring style, you rate it poorly and whine about whatever. That's nothing but being childish, whiney, and narrowminded. Warworld was a breath of fresh air, along with The Doom That Came to Gotham, Soul of the Dragon, the latest Catwoman, Injustice, Batman Gotham Knight, and Green Lantern: Beware My Power. I like that these cartoons are taking a different approach and deal with more obscure topics. The darker they get, the more I like it. I don't get what's there not to like about Warworld. You have several intertwined stories involving favorite DC characters. Though they don't seem connected at first, it all comes down in the end and fuses into a huge plot. I rate this 8/10. Hope they do more of these cartoons. Overall, it's an excellent movie with awesome ending and thoughtful story lines.

Finally some connection!
0vYentrof30 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Like all other movies within this particular DC animated universe there's been minimal connection between the movies until now. In my opinion I heavily appreciate how the writers are taking older storylines and twisting them in new directions to give comic book fans something nee primarily the Green Lantern movie which was extremely hated on but introduced one of my favorite plots into the small screen in a very entertaining way; furthermore, one of my personal issues with this universe was how War War II, Legion of Superheroes, and War World were all made out to be very stand alone stories until the endings with very minimal connection towards the present timeline. However (spoiler alert) within the last 10 minutes of this movie everything finally tied together to make sense setting up which is likely to be the last installment of this universe most likely due to the close minded terrible review bombing these movies have gotten. Fans want a bigger connected universes, but also want stand alone films, fans want the same old stories on the small screen or something entirely new, but will hate on anything that tries to make a balance out of it. Blah blah blah. There's no pleasing everybody especially the most ironic fans in the world. Back to War World (another spoiler alert) which is a fun blend of multiple comic storylines that is ultimately entertaining to the end. My biggest problem with this film is that Jonah Hex was made to be a villain (even though it was revealed to be a suffering multiverse clone). Another stand alone movie telling a multitude of stories in a small timeframe that is only connected to the others by the last 10 minutes. I'm excited for the last movie that finally brings everything together. Don't take to these reviews seriously as this DC animated universe may not be like the previous ones but if you appreciate when writers take a blend of old and new ideas I think it'll be entertaining to any die hard DC fan aching for exciting new content.

One of the Worst
cowens-2479529 October 2023
I've always been a huge DCAU fan, but this is one of the worst animated superhero movies I've ever seen. It was agonizingly boring and dumb. That animation cell shading style didn't do it any favors either. If you somehow manage to get past the first 20 minutes without turning it off from boredom than kuddos to you. I'm not exactly sure what DC is doing or why they are dropping the ball like this. They've had missteps before but this is just terrible. It's difficult for me to think of another superhero animated movie that is worse than this, even Wonder Woman Bloodlines was better than this hot garbage.

What are they even doing
Asif_Auran25 July 2023
Ever since JL Dark Apokolips War they haven't really made a good adaptation. Why are they even bother to make these flops. The story is obviously rushed like other animations before. The only good thing about this movie is the voice acting, they did a good job. This movie has many story lines but executed poorly and failed to make conclusion out of it. DC animation department need to slow down things before making everything a flop, especially Crisis on infinite Earth movie on their way or its gonna be worse than the Injustice movie we got.

Overall its an average movie with rushed ending and rushed story lines. If you don't got anything to watch give it a try else skip it.

3 good stories but 1 bad movie
geniusshikamaru30 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
3 short stories are presented focusing on each member of the Trinity. The final, 4th, act brings it all together in a hurried messed leaving the viewer as confused about what is going as the 3 heroes. If this was the intention, great! If not, then its a really big fail. The individual stories are interesting and would have made top tier episodes back in the Justice League Unlimited days as solo stories. If you're a DC fan then you know Warworld means Mongul. Boy did that disappoint big time. Mongul is reduced to one villain with no clear goal. He looks weak and is defeated easily in what I will at best call a confrontation and not really a fight. There's also a gross feeling of MCU influence with his design. He feels more like a bargain bin Ronan/Thanos. The worst part of the story just stops. Notice I didn't say ends. I wouldn't even call it a cliffhanger. Also I was surprised to see this rated R. Is the use of guns to kill? It's nowhere near the deserved R rating of Apokolips War. It feels cheap as if to entice an older audience to watch. It wasn't so much WARworld as it was illusion world thanks to Martian Manhunter. Which also felt severely under used and wasted in this story. But its not all terrible. The animation and action scenes themselves are amazing and as I said before as stand alone the stories are good. A huge miss compared to previous entries in the Tomorrowverse.

Another bad entry
alessiomasala28 July 2023
I remember my self excited waiting for the next one at the end of every DC animated movie up until the the end of JLA Apokolips War and it's saga. Then the Tomorrow Verse came and... I lost passion for the DC movies. I don't like the style of the animation (I know it's subjective but I REALLY don't like it), the story are uniteresting for my taste and I don't feel anything that pull me back rewatching it or even watching it right after it comes out... sometimes I waited for months after it came out before I decided to seat down and have a look at it. Never happened with the previous adaptation. I watched this one so early just because one of my friend had it and we watched together. Not even looking for what's next. Voices are good, design is technically good I think , even though I don't like it... simply not for me.

Good stories, but DC?
animals431 October 2023
It feels like DC bought three adventure short stories and decided to plug their most popular characters into the main roles.

The animation is up and down. The lighting in the last black and white story in particular is great. At time we see the best of modern computer animation, but at times illustration and character animation itself is underwhelming and looked like an episode of Archer.

In the end, It feels like they just should have taken one of these stories and fleshed it out into an entire movie. Or better yet, just animated one of their established stories.

On their own, each short is fine, but in the grand scheme of DC, it just leaves you wondering why?

Worst DC animation in history
namob-4367325 July 2023
DC have had a long string of very bad movies and even more horrendous TV shows, but their cartoons and animated series has generally speaking been very good. DC animations have beaten Marvel over and over again, and many of them are classics that belong in any collection. This however... this... omg... this is so bad, so so bad.

I do not even know where to start. This is is completely disjointed with horrible animation. The story is all over the place and for some reason all the stories and side stories are supposed to come together but they never really do. Towards the end I was just angry of the waste of time.

This feels so rushed and badly written that the movie should win some kind of "worst of the worst" award. This is what you should show aspiring writers, cartoonists and animators so they know what not to do.

A very generous 2/10 because the voice acting is pretty good, but this is the bottom. No, this is what you find below the bottom of the barrel. Stay away.

Adds nothing, offers nothing, takes nothing away.
MattTB8725 July 2023
A series of beautifully animated, overly bloody, poorly written and totally inconsequential stories that culminate in a disjointed ending that ultimately serves no purpose.

I'm genuinely not sure there's been a properly good DC Animated movie since the Flashpoint series, although the standard of the new voice acting is excellent and overall the animation quality is higher than it used to be, but the last few have been so incredibly lacklustre that it really makes no sense why they're putting money into these stories instead of further Elseworld adaptions or any of the million excellent Batman/Superman standalone graphic novels.

If you've got 90 minutes to burn, this one is fine, but it really doesn't add anything if you've got fond memories of the adaptions of 10 years ago.

Weird
yotamhadad14 August 2023
But... Wow!

Best DC movie since Snyder's cut, but let's not veer off from the animation realm.

DC had a good run before it rebooted its animated universe. When it started to release its movies with the new animation I thought "this looks interesting and new". Sadly the stories were considerably underwhelming. I mean, Super Sons was okay and Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham gave a new edge to Batman, but not really held as a completely new and intriguing story.

This one was weird and confusing and weird and confusing, but!

It was building up the story in a good way, imaginative and didn't shy from having new takes for old characters and stories.

like the elseworld stories
SnoopyStyle21 January 2024
In the old west, Wonder Woman ends up battling Jonah Hex to save the townfolks. On Skartaris, Batman is taken by the forces of King Travis Morgan. He offers to lead them to wizard Deimos' castle for gold and freedom. It's the 1950's in town of Grovers Mill. Federal agents Clark Kent and King Faraday are sent to a mysterious UFO site. They meet highway patrol officer Bruce Wayne and various witnesses including Diana Prince at a local diner.

I like the individual imaginary stories. It's the overarching story that is a bit too disjointed and detached. The last act is more of a struggle. I wouldn't mind developing the other three stories into elseworld stories. It's not as good as a progression or continuation story.

A new low for DC
mrever191128 July 2023
DC maybe hasn't been that fortunate with it's live action movies but the animation films always has been a spot on ... but what the heck is this garbage ?

What line of order or gap this is supposed to be filling i wonder , if you think you're getting some excitement or any fun whatsoever then believe me you gonna waste your time with this one.

The only thing that i actually like to see is the Batman voice "Jensen Ackles" i would really love to see him as a real action Batman as he in my opinion impersonate the character very good as i've seen in his previous work especially as "Soldier Boy" in The Boys.

Back to the subject, at this point i really feel sorry for DC as a fan and i find little to no hope at this point that they will ever get back on track.

Mike didn't like this and I need you to understand what that means
jeff-0176411 August 2023
I have this friend Mike. Well, maybe he's more of an acquaintance? What is a friend, really?

Mike likes everything. Transformers movies? Loves them all. Yes, all of them. Good Marvel? Bad Marvel? Good DC? Horrible DC? Yup, Mike likes it all. Even the terrible tv adaptations, bad sy-fy scifi, probably junk like 65 or whatever that Adam Driver movie was with the dinosaurs and girl that didn't talk. Great idea, guys. Anyway, Mike likes it. All of it.

Mike did not like Justice League: Warworld. And I need to impress upon you the significance of that as much as I, a random internet person, can possibly do. Because Mike not liking this movie should be the single greatest reason to never, ever watch it.

Godspeed.

WTF is going on?
robbyt-7598719 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Okay, so we start off with Wonder Woman in the old West(later revealed to be War World), she walks into a bar and meets Johan Hex, who helps her stop a band of thieves and murderers. Seconds later, he decides to just try to kill everyone and begins shooting at Diana. Um, okay that came out of nowhere. Diana destroys the gatling gun he was using and just decides to let him leave.

She then talks with the sheriff and, I'm guessing this version of Steve Trevor, about raiding Hex's storehouse. It then cuts to Jonah ranting in a bar, where he has a gun fight with some of his own men and kills them. Diana goes to see him later to distract him and Hex starts talking about him and her 'getting physical' which results in Diana using her lasso on Hex, which randomly makes him start talking about some random train?

30 second 'final battle', 'Steve' dies, no emotion is shown, and Diana leaves.

This was the first 25 minutes. It then cuts to Batman who goes from saving people to being their captive to being their 'chosen one's What is this movie? What is happening? This movie makes zero sense.

The voice acting is emotionless and bland, which sucks considering who the actors are. The story is disjointed and all over the place, and the animation is just horrible.

Frustrating But Fascinating
garzolamp21 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I didn't enjoy the Wonder Woman Western story, but the Batman Scifi Conan Pulp adventure was interesting and entertaining, especially the Minotaur chasing Batman and the WarLord.

Definitely not the WarWorld I was familiar with. It is a frustratingly confusing anthology, Wonder Woman and Batman don't seem like themselves, their personalities are warped.

The wizard Deimos has a gun, how strange. WarLord is a cool badass! I am surprised he survived the Minotaur. I do like the aesthetic of Deimos, sort of reminds me of Mister Sinister.

Ooowah Efreeti Jafar Serpent transformation, awesome choice and appearance!

Still confusing, is this a different Wonder Woman? Are there two. Why do I feel I watching something like a mix of WestWorld, ReBoot, & Quantum Leap.

Travis Morgan, I sense I suppose to know who this person is from the comics, but I am not familiar.

Interesting 1950's American Horror Martian Invasion Amongst Us story!

Initially I started not liking this movie but it grew on me and became more appealing. I'm glad I stuck around.

Lmao, Lobo returns!

Wow, Matrix Tubes!

It is exciting how Diana, Bruce, & Clark are remembering.

I think this is best Mongul I have witnessed in animation.

White Green Martian Manhunter Fusion!

Flaming Haired Purple Lady, who art thou?!
