A Journey
billcr1210 April 2023
The El camino de Santiago pilgrimage is a twelve hundred year old tradition and Camino uses it as a backdrop to the story of a Danish father and daughter who decide to make the trek after the death of his wife and her mother.

The scenery is spectacular but Jan and Regitze spend most of the journey arguing about mundane things between the two of them and I hoped for a more spiritual outlook, such as the style of the Martin Sheen film The Way, directed by his son, Emilio Estevez.

Both movies used a scene with a giant smoking urn swaying from a ceiling at a cathedral. The interior shot is mesmerizing but the Sheen vision is a much deeper one.

I will give extra credit for an unexpected ending.

Waste of time

Usually you would expect good acting from these two great actors, But brygmann is absolutely awful in this movie, and the whole movie is so unorganized and is confused like a teenager, lots of completely obsolete scenes, wish i never saw this movie. And i would recommend everyone to steer clear of this terrible film, it has nice settings which is completely ruined by the awful acting. They couldt have done a lot better if they just wanted to, this movie reeks of getting something done very fast, so fast that the quality of the movie suffers from it. My advice is watch another movie, dont waste your time with this.

Half way through

I always loved the stories of El Camino, read a lot about it and was fascinated by the stories. But knowing myself, I've knew also that i would quit halfway through.

Reading the Shirley Maclein book about her experience doing it, i imagine everything as they show in this movie, a thou Shirley was more descriptive of the pain, the blisters and smells, was also more enticing about the spiritual part, of course for her was past lives.

Still made few promises and plans with friends about doing it, but life took me in a different direction.

With this movie happened the same, i should have quit halfway, and shouldn't keep waiting for the spiritual awakening.

It didn't happen, and the end was so disappointing that i would have regret every penny. But this was a movie and I'm happy that i only wasted minutes.

If you like reading, and real stories of real people doing El Camino, read the Shirley Maclein book of the same name.

Nice and touching movie

Nice and touching movie with some funny moments. The two main actors connected very well and acting is superb. I've read some negative reviews about this movie but I really don't understand why they didn't like it. Even I don't know the language I understood the feelings and sadness and anger between main characters. And the scenery of Camino is so beautiful, everyone there is with some purpose or some deep meaning, hikers help each other, so the father and daughter could get close again. I find main actress very beautiful and vulnerable. On the other side she shows a lot of inner strength. I would like to se some other movie of hers.
