She's coming for revenge!
lastliberal-853-25370823 October 2014
Warning: Spoilers
There is no way of knowing where this was filmed, but am guessing from all the Texas connections to the director and some actors, it was done there.

It is not a terrible film, but the local flavor is certainly there, you know, using family and friends to do the film. It really seems that way.

April Hartman did a credible job in the lead as Janeth.

This not your typical vampire film. There is brief nudity, but no blood.

The end for Janeth's mom (Paula Marcenaro Solinger) was pretty lame.

Vampire mystery is well made, even if nothing happens

Warning: Spoilers
BLOOD REUNION is a micro budgeted vampire horror film that's far better than expected based on the technical values alone. This is a professional looking movie with proper scenes and editing between one moment and the next. It still looks very low budget but extra effort has been made to give it a quality look and I really appreciate that having watched a lot of movies that just don't bother.

Unfortunately this is one of those films where nothing much really happens so you still end up feeling like watching it was a waste of time. It's more of a slow-burning mystery than a horror film and there is virtually no gore or sex to speak of. It just sort of trundles along and fizzles out which is not what you want to be watching.

Winona Rises...
azathothpwiggins26 October 2021
A woman returns to her hometown to visit her mother's grave. She has no idea that she's about to be caught up in a vampire uprising. Her mother, Winona (Paula Marcenaro Solinger), is back from the dead and she's out for vengeance against her enemies.

BLOOD REUNION is an ultra-low-budget film with enough interesting characters and a decent story to make up for its lack of funds. It's reminiscent of those wonderful, zero-budget creepers from the 1960's-70's. The cast is tiny, most of the action takes place in actual living rooms, and the special effects are basic. Still, it has a charm that's lacking from so many big-budget movies.

Worth checking out...
