The use of April in other story lines does underline how much of a spare part she is in Dexter's plot, as we have to sit through her intruding on the Walkers, full-time now, and seeing how many times she can use the L word without sounding convincing. There's some nice subtle work from Sid and Sasha, who realise this isn't going to be plain sailing. There's more nice work on Heath, as he ropes Brax into doing a good turn and manages to get both April and Brax speaking up for him.The way he isn't moved by Bianca cosying up to him is interesting too.
Meanwhile, there's some frustrating scenes between John and Gina, with the latter demonstrating an annoying lack of trust.Which admittedly, is kind of understandable, given that John's been lying to her.At least it makes good use of Marilyn.
