Episode 2

Warning: Spoilers
I get that they are not going to be able to get comedy legends like Martin Mull every single week on this show, but we need better than this as I just watched the episode and can't remember anything noteworthy or exciting about this week's ghost.

I don't know if it is a coincidence or due to the popularity of CBS' Ghosts, but we now have multipe broadcast comedies about the undead and people seeing them. Not complaining just feel worth pointing out.

This show is stilla nice addition to the lineup though and I hope that it can fully find its footing and develop into a nice little cult hit soon.

Weak & predictable second episode
orian8 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
1) Why would the lazy writers believe viewers would take the bait that the main character would leave the obit desk...the apparent impetus for the whole ghost gimmick & title of the series... in the second episode?! Really?

2) The inevitable trope-y will they/won't they BS between Nell & her roommate is furthered in this episode.

3) Another trope that every poor sitcom character MUST have a rich friend, in this case Cricket, the widow of Nell's 1st obit story (yeah, that's believable, sure) bc network execs fear realistic writing about being poor is a turn off for advertisers & also furthers those same execs fantasies about being benevolent philanthropists instead of the self-centered d-bags they really are. These characters are writers' get-of-jail-free cards for poor characters to avoid any real consequences of being poor, losing jobs, etc. Plus the writers can kiss up to the execs by saying xyz-character's generosity reminds said writers of xyz-executive.

4) Hannah Simone & Lauren Ash's characters are TERRIBLY written. What working moms do you know ever talk about their kids w/o ever mentioning them as individuals by name & what's going on with them or w/o mentioning schools/preschools/daycare issues or their partners/ex-partners involvement or lack there of or that of parents, in-laws, etc. We don't even know if Hannah Simone's or Lauren Ash's characters have spouses or exes. They aren't real characters just lazy-writer-plot-device-bandaids worthy of just a few uninspired sentences each. Badly underserved IMO.

All in all just a bad episode. Still no explanation about the ghost powers. No resolution of the intern office plot point (lazy writers couldn't be bothered to remember the way Nell got her ill-fated investigative article published in the 1st place). No impact of her article at all nor if it was good. Not mentioned by anyone other than to further a prev episode revealed character flaw about being impetuous. It's bad when a show's writers have less attention span than viewers within a single 20-22 min episode of content.
