Probably, the most intense episode of season 2, so far
funnycommentor11 February 2023
The plot of episode 5 was very interesting and I really enjoyed it. The storyline was very well written, even though the game wasn't very well-explained and it was kinda difficult to understand. Gladly, the game of episode 5 was very intense and action filled. However, I still prefer the games of season 1, they were kinda more interesting. I have to admit, I really like the storyline of season 2, even though there weren't any huge plot twists, so far. The ending scene was definitely promising and I really can't wait to watch episode 6. I also noticed that the effects and CGI of season 2 are way more better than those of season 1.

Too much padding now
Leofwine_draca27 February 2023
Another episode let down by an overlong running time and dragging pace. Has nobody heard of editing anymore? Remember some of those SQUID GAME episodes which were just half an hour long? I wish we had more of that here. Two-thirds of the episode is just hanging around in the woods like we're watching HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS PART 1 or something. Plenty of chit-chat between the supporting characters and then a long introduction to another new character. We glimpse this kick-ass fight game that I would have loved to see in its entirety but no, it's rushed through. The decent part is the game at the end, but yet another cliffhanger is annoying.

Look close enough and you'll find a good episode
Mesina0228 February 2023
I do believe that people might be dissatisfied with this because the majority of this episode is relatively calm. Although I can understand that to a certain degree, I think this episode further demonstrates the loss of faith and humanity that is sinking into the minds of the people in this world.

I do like what the show is doing when it's not focusing on the games. It tackles an ethical issue and I like how it showcases that through the various characters we get to meet throughout the series. I don't think it's unnecessary when we're shown backstories of certain characters because it just shows you how they coped with the new reality there faced with and how've they managed to deal with it.

Obviously this isn't a great episode. I wouldn't argue if anyone said this was better or worse than what I've given it. This was an episode where you just needed to take the idea it gave you because it will carry over to the next episode where it might expand on that.

Alice in Borderland.
bombersflyup27 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
A lacklustre episode, we have backstory on a new random character and Arisu's brief involvement in an attempt to take out the King of Spades, along with a simple game of tag with essentially only one side playing. Retreading past material and Arisu and Usagi's lives are at risk and they're not really giving it their all and for what, some random kid, who will inevitably die anyway in the not to distant future, even if they are to somehow get him out of this. It's a bit of nothing episode, of characters finding purpose. Too much irrelevant and unnecessary stuff here, this season not even reaching the mediocre heights of the first thus far.

worst story choices
loloimdb23 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This review is essentially based on a comparison with the manga.

I can't tell how frustrated and disappointed I am with how they mixed and rushed everything up with the King of spade story... First of all, Arisu never met Aguni nor Heiya in the forest.

Instead, we are introdusced to a new character called Doudou, a young high school student that Aguni will take on his side and act as a paternal/big brother figure. It is kind of his own redemption after what happened in The Beach.

The King of spade is also way more terrifying in the manga, with plenty of gadgets and tricks, especially a tracker that can tell the position of the players.

Doudou got to meet Heiya after being separated from Aguni (that's when we are introduced to her back story) and those 3 had to fight king of Spade.

I can't believe they skipped such an important character that Doudou is.... Instead, they came up with an "original" game that is not in the manga (the queen of spade game) that doesn't bring anything more to the story or the characters.... What a waste! I really don't understand this choice... (same as the Jack of Heart game which was rushed and didn't developped two important "villain" characters, plus, Chishiya was never supposed to be in this game)...

The pillow will be needed once again
mattywalsh-613308 February 2023
If you still have it on the couch from ep1 your lucky as you prob need your pillow once u fall asleep during this one. And you also thought ep4 had to much back log bs then your in for a bashing in this one. Total snooze ep. Maybe it's just me too but the acting of pain has really become poor in this series, very over acted and makes it look like comics. Am also getting very tired of watching 45 minutes back story to see any real action games being played.

Have really let us down in se02. Don't think there will be a 3 after this and if there is and the 1st ep is like this season I'm not following on again.
