Too much coincidence!!!!!!!!!!!
mimorahman18 November 2022
In general, detectives are not allowed to believe in coincidence.

Jim Gordon: "You're a detective now, son. You're not allowed to believe in coincidence anymore" (Dark Knight Rises)

However, the case in this movie is solved using several coincidences. Byomkesh was roaming around Chitpur, he saw Kalicharan. On the contrary, Kalicharan and Kalikinkar pose doubt in viewer's mind; however, our detective is clueless in that front. Kalikinkar is sneaky enough to use paper cuttings to threat Biswanath; however he kept the original paper in his room only to be discovered by the detective.

Moreover, the movie lacks the basic characterization of detective stories; not for a single I feel any suspense. I don't understand the reason behind converting this into a dramatic one.

Do not waste your money & time

Rubbish movie. No edge of the seat suspense. Drab & boring screenplay. 1971 female character using clutch clip & shantiniketani leather bag with modern design is laughable. All characters look same. Who is braja ? Who is kali ? Who is lightman ? You won't remember. Atrocious makeup. Other than the protagonist trio rest is sludge. The explicit scenes are also nauseating. Utterly discomforting. Why the bengali directors are always puting unnecessary closeness on screen with formidable dialogues are revolting. Not recommended even for a light watch. Do not wast your money & timefor the undeserving film.

Stop using the name Byomkesh pls ...
sbag7516 September 2023
Seems everyone can use the name Byomkesh and mutilate it at their whim. It is a pain to watch such movies.

Dear directors of modern Bengali movies, pls use your own grey cells & write your own script. Stop using the name Byomkesh.

The story telling, flow, and most of all the way Byomkesh appears is too shallow. Never read Byomkesh living a fancy life before - give me a break. And ending the movie with a kiss - my god.

Beware of this movie and save your time & energy for a different one this time.

Abir is too monotonous and predictable and don't have the cariama of the real zeal of the Saradindu creation.

The movie will keep at the edge of your seat. The best thing about the movie is the suspension, various motive have been shown but the real motive was shocking and to know that you will have to watch the whole movie.he is. Truly India's reply to Sherlock.

Lives up to expectations!! Abir Sohini and Arindam rock!!

Film review: Byomkesh Hatyamancha .. a treat for my Bong friends and die hard Byomkesh Bakshi fans !!

#sanjuzzreviews #HoichoiOriginals #ByomkeshHotyamancha #byomkeshhatyamancha #hoichoi #SVF Directed by Arindam Sil, this film is the fourth film of his Byomkesh franchise after Har Har Byomkesh, Byomkesh Pawrbo & Byomkesh Gotro, all super hit films. This film too lives up to the high expectations set by its predecessors.

Set in the backdrop of the Bangladesh liberation war in 1971 and the tumultuous period of the Naxalite uprising in West Bengal, the story is based on an unfinished story by Sharadindu Bandopadhyay 'Bishupal Vadh' which has been scripted into a movie.

Byomkesh (Abir Chatterjee) , Satyavati ( Sohini) and Ajit Babu( Suhotra Mukherjee) are invited to watch a play called Kichak Vadh where a murder is committed on stage. The victim is Bishu , a famous actor with a chequered past, hated by his colleagues from the theatre company. List of suspects include his wife and co-actress Sulochana( Paoli Dam) , his friend Brajadulal Babu( Arna Mukhopadhyay) who has been wronged by Bishu. Another suspect is Kalikinkar Babu who has been unjustly convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment due to a false testimony given by Bishu. The list is long and everyone seems to have a motive for murder. Byomkesh really has to rack his brains to put together all pieces of the puzzle and finally provide a fitting curtain call to this amazing story.

Well scripted story, the bygone era of 1971 has been reconstructed very well. Casting is fantastic as Abir, Sohini , Suhotra and Paoli breeze through their roles with elan. Well directed by Arindam Sil !!

All in all, a fitting tribute to the genius of Shardindu Bandopadhyay. Watch in theatres like I did ( very few shows unfortunately) or wait for an OTT release on Hoichoi . Hoping to see many more films in this franchise for sure!!

3.5/5 from me for this one .. Adios 🙂!!

Artistic, but anachronistic
jhil_manini27 October 2022
Because the base story was unfinished, I did not have much expectation from the makers as it would not be their forte to write as per Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay. There are many anachronistic points, especially an ageing Byomkesh and younger Ajit and others. There was no need to bring so many threads that would not add anything to the plot. However the reason I score this movie high is because it is extremely artistically made. Each frame is beautiful, the lighting is awesome. It is difficult to imagine that someone of Arindam Sil's calibre would be able to art direct so seamlessly. It must be his team, someone from the theatre world to have directed it.
