Went to this movie with my 5 year old, excited to see Petsson and Findus and we kept waiting and waiting for what seemed forever. The two beloved characters will only appear during the last minutes of the movie.

While I could easily navigate around my daughter's constant asking 'but where is Findus?!', I was caught off-guard by a scene at the very beginning, where a man dies choking because the muckles were goofing around. This serves as a basis for why they need to go on an exciting adventure to look for a new place and every second they are portrayed as the good guys. The movie does mention that since forever they have been nagging humans and have been quite 'naughty' fellows, but accidentally killing someone seems to cross the line. The man is left face down in a cake (in an attempt to make the scene amusing I assume) and my kid is loudly asking 'why isn't he moving? What's happening?'. The right answer would have been: well the nice muckles killed the nice old man.

Later on, they blow up the house of an innocent lady and, just like scene one, everything is brushed off and we are back to looking at these creatures as if they are just some heroes saving the day.

The moral here is that there is no moral. As long as our heroes get to where they are going and are singing and having fun, there are no consequences to their actions and the wellbeing of the people they interact with is irrelevant.

Being a kids movie, I guess us parents have some basic expectations in terms of what some heroes teach their audience. The whole 'oops we killed a nice man' scene is morbid and not a good conversation starter with my kid.
