A below average addition to the horror genre that had a solid concept but poor execution

Requiem for a Scream (2022) is a Tubi original that I recently watched and tells the tale of a group of friends who go to a lake house in the winter to do drugs, have sex and watch horror movies. Little do they know a serial killer is working on creating opus of screams from his victims to make a song...and he could use a few more screams to finish his project. Lucky for him the winter campers have just arrived next door and are ready to contribute, whether they know it or not.

This movie is directed by Ben Meyerson (My Little Girl is Gone) and stars Cassandra Scerbo (Truth or Dare), Michael X. Sommers (Sorry to Bother You), Georgia Leva (Shameless), Zachary Roozen (Deadly Exchange) and India McGee (Bolden).

This is another one of those "almost good" movies. There was a unique concept for this slasher flick and a good set up of characters and circumstances. The opening scene was good, even if the kill could have been executed better. The acting was solid and the circumstances felt realistic. There's a good throat slash in this, but not enough good kill scenes to make this worthwhile. The killer reveal at the end was disappointing too.

Overall, this is a below average addition to the horror genre that had a solid concept and poor execution. I would score this a 3.5/10 and recommend skipping it.

Mediocre

Warning: Spoilers
It starts off ok, but falls apart quickly and by the final 30 minutes I was ready to shut it off. I'm giving it 4 stars because of the effort it made, but as a whole it's just not a very good horror film.

With a little tweaking it could have been really great. You have 4 friends trapped in a cabin with a killer outside who just murdered one of their friends, and a fight for survival ensues.

It really could have been a suspenseful film with such a premise, but it surprisingly falls flat after the friend is slashed by the killer and dies in her friend's arms.

Instead of the rest of the friends fighting to survive, they snort coke and bicker with each other...and one guy takes a moment to plant a surprise kiss on the mouth of his straight friend. WTH was that about lol. It seemed like it was squeezed in just to be PC and please a certain crowd. Whatever. Stuff like that detracts from the film.

Watch if you must, but there's a plethora of better cabin in the woods slashers out there than this. 4 stars for the effort.

"Almost" a wish version of Scream, could they not of made the killers voice original?

This wasn't horrible, was fairly solid in some aspects but again.. Scream remake just mix a different costume, location, cast & backstory.

It was cast decent ok & acting fine, but nothing Oscar-worthy.. Also characters names, rather odd choices on some.

You just eventually need to find out why he did all this, beyond creating a symphony of screaming.. Who lives or dies, type of stuff.

The house has been used in several movies, most notably Lifetime.

If you overlook it being a Tubi original, clichés and plotholes it's.. Not a waste to watch comes across almost high-quality,the cinematography was good & being it's October a weekend popcorn flick.
