bar raised one level up!
bmmutlu5 December 2011
In recent years, Turkish TV series have gained quality and there were great productions like Ezel, Ask-I-Mennu, Walley of Volwes or Binbir Gece (1001 Nights), but the level is now even higher with this one.

Overall good story, great directing, great cast and great role playing for each and every actor and actress from Kivanc Tatlitug to everybody else... Even from the first episode, the series starts with a very good way of story telling.. sometimes extremely heavy drama deep into family relations, angers, feelings in a realistic way..

Initially I am impressed how Kivanc improved his acting skills, best up to date. he plays a young man with a good heart but with lots of drawbacks and in a way weird personal attitudes... All family members are giving top performances in my opinion, especially the father.. Also I am impressed how the past is successful shot. The past is shot much better than with other series, you almost think that Kivanc is really a teenager when they were shot. The relation between the brothers, and with other family members are extremely well analysed and played.

Yes, there are things to criticize as well.. after the 5th or 6th episode you start to loose the main purpose of the story. What would Kuzey (Kivanc) want to achieve? What is his goal? Where is the TV series going to in general? I ask these questions because this story could end easily if the main character Kuzey knew what he really wanted.. However, I won't go into more detail not give away any spoilers for readers..

Anyway, I watched episode 9 until now and I am still watching with great pleasure...

Final words: I strongly recommend...!!!! :))

Best TV Drama Turkish Series That I've seen to date
Sovran_H30 August 2014
With heavily drama start since the episode 1 it gets you into the story of what real life and families are going through from their past , present and going through the future to pass those bad times but only it gets worse and worse.

An incredible performance by Kivanc (Kuzey) - a good mean with a great heart but with a troubled misunderstanding background who lost everything but still has a heart so big to go in prison instead of his brother even though he stole the love of his life . He goes as a kid but comes out as a man , death scaring looks , deep voice , no smile , and always watching his back and still in love with Cemre . I from all the movies i've seen this is Kivanc's best acting skills to date .

Then the Sami (the father) with an incredible performance nervous , unhappy and hurting his kids and wife to avoid the pain . Also the rest of the cast , directing , locations , dialog's , fight scenes were masterpiece and amazingly described .

Don't miss this one 8/10.

deeply love this show with bottom of heart :*
watson_liza9 September 2015
i cant explain... where should i start, storyline awesome and acting of all the people is really admirable.. i love the main actress oyku karayel.. she is such a natural beauty, season 1 is a bit boring, not soo much impressive, but season 2 is just wow, watching kivanc crying hard is so much painful, because of this reason, many of his fans love him much more, season 2 is really tragic, but finally kuzey cemre love wins and they are together ;) bugra acting skills are also good, but i really hate zeynep :/ she was very annoying and awful ...sinaners family members showed their best performance... :) really hate simay deeply... :/ :/ after a lot of patience of viewers.. they finally made kuzey cemre couple and saved the audience from death.. :p lol <3

unique storyline, full of action, suspense, thriller, tragedy, and a little bit romance ;) love it <3
javeriakhan-548759 September 2015
first ov all, kivanc tatlitug did an excellent job by doing this role, he gave his soul to kuzey role... bugra also did good job.. i really like the way how first few episodes showed guney a kind-hearted and kuzey a bit selfish, rude.... but actually kuzey is innocent and guney is evil....!! in second season... most of the viewers fell really hard for kuzey.. <3 drama makers showed him really cry baby..who had no one and also his love had been lost... :( oyku karayel, although a new comer, but she tried hard to give her best :) i really like the dressing style of cemre in first season... but in second season.. her style is awful.. and kivanc looked extremely hot and handsome in both seasons... <3 BG music is just fabulous and outstanding... !! nice script, nice drama <3

Excellent show with wide range of emotions
aks19872 December 2014
This is the second great Turkish drama that I have watched after Aski Memnu. The cast is well chosen. Kivanc Tatlitug as Kuzey and Oyku Karayel as Cemre have a really good chemistry together. Their acting will both get you in tears when they cry and make you smile when they do that's how good they are. The rest of the cast does a fine job too. Not one of the cast members could you point out and say does not carry his or her role well. Kivanc Tatlitug plays a totally different character from what he did in Aski Memnu. I wouldn't spoil by saying much but this guy can really act. The fight scenes were really well done as the preparation done by Kivanc showed in those scenes. Also the ending is not a depressing one. (Thank God).

Highly recommended. 10/10.

Must Watch
devikajadhav14 August 2017
Kuzey Guney (north & south), is the story of two brothers who, as the title suggests are polar opposite from each other. Guney, being the poster picture for the perfect child was always the first choice for anything. Kuzey on the other hand was always misunderstood. As fate would have it, Kuzey takes the brunt of a life changing mistake just so that Guney could carry on with his life. Despite this Guney harbors malicious feelings for his brother, which gets worse when he realizes that Kuzey is in love with Cemre, a girl he himself loved. It goes to show how at times our own blood would be ready to do anything to take you down in life.

You will find it hard not to fall in love with Kuzey. Kuzey is introduced to the viewers as immature and childish. But after losing four years of his life in prison, you see him trying to collect pieces of his life and make a living for himself, despite his enemies hindering him on every step of his journey. We see that regardless of his brash exterior, he is kind and values his family and friends above all. His character has the best growth over the seasons, an arc which worth applauding. The female lead is endearing, and makes you yearn for her to get the love she fights for and believes in so strongly.

Despite the brilliant writing, Kuzey Guney would have been nothing without it's actors. Last seen in Aski- Memnu, Kivanc Tatlitug is mesmerizing as Kuzey. His acting prowess is commendable, and this role is definitely one of his career highs. He deserves all praises heaped on him for this performance. Kivanc's chemistry with Oyku is off the charts. They make you want to fight for them. Apart from the main cast, the supporting actors are also stellar in their roles, especially Kuzey's father and Cemre's mother.

Do not give it a miss.

Simple but unforgettable
oguzhan_wert13 October 2020
This series may seem very simple but it is impossible to forget this masterpiece.

The acting of Kivanc is so good. He is by far the best actor in Turkey.

Also the Kuzey Character and the Drama behind it is just fenomenal.

The production behind this series is known for high quality series in Turkey.

A pure drama series that you will not forget.

Kivanc is really an amazing actor
chera_khalid28 September 2023
"Kuzey Guney" proved to be a series of captivating contrasts. The performances of the lead actors were praiseworthy, drawing me into the complex lives of these two brothers and their tumultuous journey. While the editing occasionally stumbled in its pacing, the series managed to maintain a compelling narrative throughout. The music, while not particularly memorable, provided a suitable backdrop to the unfolding drama. The strength of "Kuzey Guney" was its ability to delve into the intricacies of family dynamics, showcasing the struggles and conflicts that can arise in the face of love and rivalry. The cinematography beautifully captured the essence of both urban and rural settings, adding depth to the story. Despite its flaws, this series earned a solid 6/10 rating from me, as its strengths ultimately outweighed its weaknesses, making it an enjoyable watch.

Great Story, Bad Ending
dinasweetheart19 March 2019
Great story and character, Kuzey is a strong character and would of like him with a strong female (like Deniz). I have seen all Kivanc Tatlitug series, he is amazing actor and to put with a weak female spoil the story. Didn't like Gemre she moved from brother to brother, always causing trouble, stopping Kuzey finding happiness and toward the last 10, I lost interested. Kuzey and Gemre marriage ruined the end

Believe the Hype
timesthechanrm11 May 2021
Kivanc is a no holds barred out of this world actor. Kuzey and Cesur are my favorite Kivanc characters. Rewatched Kuzey in 2021 and the character still blows my mind. Fabulous. Kivanc is able to transmit so much with the smallest gesture. Wonderful series with some great directing. Believe the hype - Kivanc is brilliant as Kuzey.

My thoughts about a Turkish show called Kuzey, Guney
azita-4021828 July 2017
I recently watched this old show Hated Simay with her stupid looks Could not bring myself to like leading actress Cemre, no charm none whatsoever. She could be a supporting actress, but never a leading one

As a secretary in a huge company she put her nose in anything and everything, very unrealistic Those played the mothers roles were very good Men actors were superb, the roles of Ali, father, Guney and of course Kuzey the leading actors were played marvelously. Complex story line, sometimes repeated I could not see the chemistry between Kuzey and Cemre, therefore very disappointed All and all it was OK

an epic series
ardelacampagne7 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
An impressive series, a bit slow at the beginning but that gains momentum, as the two principal protagonists (Kuzey and Cemre (beautifully played by Kivanç Tatlitug and Öykü Karayel, who have real chemistry on screen) discover/admit an epic love that transcends all evil, having to overcome extremely destructive forces embodied by respectively a brother and former fiancé (Güney) who keeps on blaming others for his own greed and mistakes (he dropped his fiancé in a heartbeat to climb the social and economic ladder) and who ends up openly professing his hatred for his own brother, in a Cain and Abel scenario.

The Kuzey-Cemre couple is surrounded by an endearing cast of supporting characters (the lovely Gülten, the touching Sami, Handan, Anyur, Hussein, the adorable Ali and Demet, the caring Seref and Yunus) (some having an impressive background in theater), but Güney (played with ardent darkness by Bugra Gülsoy) is embarked on a scorched-earth rampage that obviously goes south, breaking up his own family, his wife, and a whole bunch of people around him. It does not help that Kuzey, before coming to terms with his feelings for Cemre, fell for the inauspicious Simay and the infuriating Zeynep (Cemre herself hardly faring better with the horrendous Baris) but the very human heroes pursue their journey, displaying extreme self-sacrifice and nobility of character, going well above and beyond, and rise to epic stature. One cannot but root for them. The end is quite satisfying, albeit a bit short (considering all the roller coaster of emotions the viewer has been through).

very close to real world
joudahidri13 October 2022
Among all turkish series I've watched so far, this one seems to be the closest to real world. It tells a lot about the daily life of the low/average class on one hand, the rich class on the other hand and also the reality of villages where things are still very hard cor.

It fits nevertheless the typical pattern of turkish series, where there is 2 males fighting about one girl. There is also these ingrediens of "friendship vs brotherhood", "justice vs revenge", "love vs moral" (for ex. Would you be with the ex of your brother even if you're damn in love?) we see in most of turkish series.

Kivanc is very hot in old as much as in new series, but not in this one; he is so skinny and with the scar on the chin, he doesnt look attractive at all. But he succeeded pretty much the role of the poor boy with the messed up family, nice to the point of being naive and stupid. It is the total contrast of the other roles of the rich arrogant guy, like in Cesur ve Gusel.

Brother rivalry
summertimexoxo3 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
The heart of this show is the relationship between Kuzey and Guney. Bugra Gulsoy (Guney) and Kivanc Tatlitug (Kuzey) were both exceptional leads. Their constantly changing brotherly dynamic was so entertaining to watch. Every fight and argument between them was so believable and natural. The other supporting actors were also very strong, especially, Semra (Handan), Mustafa (Sami), and Zerrin Tekindor (Gulten). The relationship between the parents (sami and handan) was also really realistic and sad to watch. Didn't love the leading actress, her performance was a little bland. Overall, I would say its worth your time.

Horrible!
Dante200412 August 2023
How did this ridiculous series get such high ratings? Repetitive, unrealistic and boring as hell. The lead actress, Oyku was horrible. She has got to be the worst I have ever seen. Emotionless, boring and her voice was unbearable. Kicanc overacted throughout the entire series. Absolutely no chemistry between them. The storyline was a big fail. A woman obsessed with her ex fiancés brother and was pretty much written like a doormat. She was like a leech that followed Kuzey around like a sick dog. I say unrealistic because there is no way in hell anyone would be accepting of the relationship between these 2 characters. I fast forwarded all the scenes of Cemre cause I couldn't tolerate watching her and her selfish mother. I watched until the end because I wanted to see what happens with the 2 brothers. Another Turkish drama where a man gives up all his morals and principles for a woman. I think the high ratings are due to Kivanc. Although I'm a huge fan of his, he was really disappointing in this series.
